CHAPTER 5 : Next Week's Competition

'What are you searching for, Sora-cchi? We've been wandering around the shopping complex for half an hour.'

I glanced at him. 'I was doing some checking. Now, let's get to the real mission.'

Kise Ryouta was dressed like usual except that he'd a black facemask over his nose and mouth, a hat on his head and sunglasses over his eyes. If you were to ask me, I'd say people would recognize him 1.5 seconds faster than without disguise.

I mean, who'd walk around a shopping complex with a mask and a hat and sunglasses?! I sighed. 'By the way your disguise sucks, Kise.' I commented.

'Eh, really?' he panicked and examined his body. 'S-Should I wrap myself around tissue—'

'Take off that sunglasses and walk with your head down every so often.'

He did as I said and we proceeded to a DVD store. A smirk crept to my lips as I saw the section labeled "New Arrivals". I rushed there and Kise followed closely. My eyes sparkled with excitement when I saw what I wanted.

'Wow, I didn't know you're into this.' Kise's eyes were wide open as he examined a DVD. I frowned and tiptoed to see what he was holding. It was a DVD entitled, "A Night of Fantasy" with the label "Erotic Hentai" on top right of the casing.

I slapped his arm. 'Don't hold that!'

He quickly put it back. He knew what'd happen if anyone were to see Kise Ryouta holding an erotic DVD with an unknown woman beside him. He leaned down to my ear. 'But seriously...' he trailed off.

I rolled my eyes and shoved the DVD I was holding to his face. 'This was what I was searching for! Not some erotic shits!' I chided in a whisper.

He took it from me and read the title. 'You watch this chibi?'

'A chibi as he is, he's a lot cooler than you.' I commented and grabbed the DVD back from his hand before walking towards the counter to pay.

We exited the store. 'Do you want Starbucks, Kise? My treat.' I offered.

'Pure caramel Frappuccino!' he retorted.

'Pay me when you're back at the hospital.' I said and entered the coffee shop.

'Pay you back?! But you said it's your treat!' Kise whined.

'I was kidding.' I got into the line.

'Which part? The "my treat" part or "pay me back" part?' he insisted.

I clicked my tongue and squinted my eyes at him. 'Both.' I hissed.

'Both?! Wait—you're not making any sense, Sora-cchi!' Kise frowned.

'That's my point,' I told him and stepped forward as it was my turn to order. Kise stared at me with a questioning look on his face. 'Pure caramel Frap, and Caramel Frap with coffee.' I ordered.

The worker nodded, smiling and wrote my order. 'Name, miss?' he asked.

'Yellow prawn for the pure caramel frap, and Sora for the caramel coffee.'

The worker raised his brows. He was surprised. 'Excuse me, yellow... what again?'

'Yellow prawn.' I smiled widely.

'... Okay.' He gulped and wrote it down. I paid the bill and pulled Kise to sit at the nearest seats as we waited for our drinks.

'Where are we going next?' Kise asked.

I looked at my phone for the time and glanced at Kise. 'Probably stop at a bookstore and back to the hospital.'

Kise pouted. 'Can we go to a clothes store instead?'

'No. You have to rest.' I said firmly.

'Sora and Yellow... Prawn?!' a voice called out but he was devastated at the second name. I stood and went to take the drinks. I thanked the worker as I did.

Kise rose and we walked out, sipping our drinks.

'Sorano! Ryouta-kun!'

I halted and frowned. I think I know the owner of that voice.

Kise had turned around before I did. 'Oh! Tooru-cchi!' he waved at the person behind us. I inhaled deeply and spun. I almost died when Oikawa came into sight.

The brown-haired lad smiled at us. 'What are you guys doing here?' he asked.

Kise held up his Starbucks drink and he got the message. The blonde then frowned. 'But how did you recognize me?'

'I saw Sorano and thought the guy beside must be you since you're a blonde.'

Kise nodded in understanding. 'Ah! Now that I see the two of you—I have an invitation!'

I glanced at him. 'What invitation?'

'I have a game next Friday. Two tickets have been given to me for front row seats. I thought of my seniors but they must be busy with their jobs so I wanted to let Sorano see me play and Tooru-cchi too, since you're a volleyball player. I want to show basketball to you.'

I chuckled. 'Next Friday?'

'What time, Ryouta-kun?' Oikawa asked.

'Eh... I have to check that. I left the letter somewhere at home.'

'Let's just pray our time is different.'

Kise gave him a questioning look.

'Oikawa-san invited me to his volleyball game next Friday.' I interrupted.

Kise gaped.

I didn't spare him any time to say anything. 'Do you want me to drive you to the court?' I asked.

Kise shook his head. 'Ah! No it's fine. Kurokocchi would pick me up and we'll be having dinner with the rest of the team.'

'Kuro... kocchi?' I tilted my head.

'My friend.' Kise laughed awkwardly.

'Where are you guys heading next?'

'Hospital.' / 'UNIQLO.'

Kise and I shared a glare and Oikawa laughed. 'Let's head to UNIQLO then.' He concluded.

'Since when you're the leader of the trip, Mister Oikawa?' I squinted my eyes at him.

'Since just now.' He gave me a shrug and followed Kise who happily strode towards the clothes store at the other end of the floor. I sighed.

• Iwaizumi Hajime •

He sighed at the text message he received two minutes ago. Shino Izumi, his current girlfriend since two months ago was sipping her drink in front of him as she scrolled down her Twitter's News Feed.

'What's with that worried look on your face, Hajime-kun?' Izumi spoke; pronunciation slightly messed up due to her biting the straw, as her eyes didn't leave her phone screen.

'Akayuki played an important role in our relationship,' he began and Izumi looked up at her boyfriend. 'So I wanted to help her as well.'

'And what's stopping you?' she queried.

Iwaizumi showed the message to her. Izumi almost choked.

From: Trashykawa

Iwa-chan. I don't like having Sorano around.

'Akayuki isn't someone to be hated that easily!' Izumi said in horror. 'W-Why did he say that?!'

Iwaizumi shrugged and frowned. 'I have no idea.'

'Reply to him like you'd usually do,' Izumi smiled. 'I'm sure Oikawa-kun has his reasons to not like her.'

The boy nodded.

To: Trashykawa

Do you have to tell me that? Why does it matter to me anyway?

'This is irritating. I feel like punching him in the face. The only person he hated was Kageyama.' Iwaizumi muttered. The reply came not long after.

From: Trashykawa

Well... I don't know. I feel like I had to tell you that. Btw, I'm with Sorano and Ryouta-kun at the shopping mall rn XD

To: Trashykawa

Why, then? Btw, why are you with them if you don't like her around?

From: Trashykawa

It's not like I don't like her as in I hate her... it's just that, I feel really awkward with Sorano. I don't even know why I can't add –chan to her name. I wanted to know her and be friends like how I did to Shino-chan... or whoever, but it just won't work out with her.

I saw them in front of Starbucks. Had to approach.

To: Trashykawa

What's your plan then? Never make contact again? The decision is up to you.

From: Trashykawa

;_; Iwa-chan helpppp

To: Trashykawa

All I can say is, Akayuki is a loveable person. I have no idea how you could come up with the idea of not liking her around. Izumi and I wouldn't even mind if she were to accompany us to our dates.

From: Trashykawa

Maybe I am wrong.

To: Trashykawa

She's the only one you feel awkward being around. Maybe she's special or something?

From: Trashykawa

You're a genius Iwa-chan! /(•O•)\

To: Trashykawa

I know. Don't forget our practice at 5 tomorrow. Late and I'll kill you.

From: Trashykawa

-3- okie

'I think he reached a decision.' Iwaizumi commented.

'What do you think his decision is?' Izumi questioned.

'I don't know,' Iwaizumi smirked. 'But I'm sure he chose the best.'

Izumi giggled. 'Because you believe in him.'

Iwaizumi chuckled and ruffled her hair affectionately.

I stared at the T-shirt beside me. Kise appeared behind. 'Sora-cchi, how about this?' he whispered. I flinched and looked. The clothes suited him but... the color didn't.

'A different color, please?' I suggested.

He grinned, not expecting my answer to "support" him then spun and searched for a new color. Someone tapped my shoulder. 'He thought you'd scold him.' Oikawa spoke.

'I know,' I glanced at him. 'I like giving him unexpected answers.'

'You don't want to buy any clothes?'

'No. I have enough clothes.' I chuckled.

'You know, Sorano,' Oikawa said. I hummed. 'I'm very awkward around you so I hated whenever you're around.'

I froze. H... H—He's... HE'S TOO STRAIGHTFORWARD!!

'But Iwa-chan told me that you might be special because I couldn't communicate with you properly,' he touched my shoulder and we looked at each other. 'So I was thinking... Are you actually a transgendered woman?'

My mouth went wide.

'I'm always good with females but I just can't seem to settle with you.' He added.

My mouth went wider. We were silent for a really long while.

Iwaizumi and his girlfriend were still at the very same spot. Izumi had refilled her drinks 3 times while Iwaizumi was about to order another drink until his phone vibrated, indicating that a message had arrived. He read it.

'I'm going to kill someone.' He stated firmly and stood. Izumi looked up from her phone and frowned at him.

'I know you're not joking,' She said in a whisper. 'But what's going on?'

'That damn Trashykawa I believed him for nothing!' he sat back down. Izumi gave him a questioning look. 'He asked Akayuki if she was a transgendered woman!!'

Izumi burst into laughter. Iwaizumi stared at her. 'I'd believe Oikawa-kun! Remember how she kicked down a door during the fire on our trip to Kyoto?!' she continued laughing.

'Izumi, this isn't funny. How are they going to get together if he thinks of her that way?'

She stopped laughing and huffed. 'You don't decide her significant other, Hajime-kun. She decides for herself, and so does Oikawa-kun. You'll help anyhow you can, that's how you're going to help.'

He fell silent and gripped his phone.

To: Trashykawa

Do whatever suits. Meet you at the court.

I stared at my notes. The words weren't tolerating. I couldn't memorize a single thing on the paper! Are you actually a transgendered woman?

I sighed loudly and slapped my cheeks in attempt to snap out of it. Maybe he didn't know how else to tell me. Maybe he felt uncomfortable around me. Don't take it to your heart, Akayuki. Breathe.

It was nearing 12am and I personally asked the manager to give me a day off for tonight because I'd be having a test the next day. I decided that I should take a walk while reading and the "special route" came to mind.

-

It was cold as the wind blew strongly. The papers on my hand nearly flew but I held it tight as I leaned against the railing of the bridge. 'Oh, Orion again!' I mumbled to myself and smiled as I gazed at the night sky full of stars.

It's soothing, really.

I then looked down at the river. 'Bathing while reading might be nice too.' I nodded then turned to walk home but I collided with someone. He or she had a tough built as I was pushed to the ground by the force. I tried to hold on to the railing but I fell on my butt nevertheless.

I winced and looked up. A black-haired guy looked down at me, slightly surprised. I blinked then frowned. I know him from somewhere...

We stared at each other and then I noticed his phone on the ground. I gasped loudly and picked it up. 'I-I'm really sorry I dropped your phone!' I said and handed it to him immediately.

'Ah, no,' he spoke and took the phone from me, bowing his head slightly. 'I was walking with my attention elsewhere, I'm sorry.'

'It's fine!' I smiled and stood up with his help. We bowed at each other.

'Uh, your papers—' the guy bent down to pick it up but I stopped him and knelt down instead.

Before my fingers could reach the material, the wind had blown it away. My eyes widened as the papers were blown to the east, which means—the river!!!!

The papers went through in between the balusters. I did the best thing I could to save them—I stood straight, landed my right foot up against the railing and lifted my self up. My left foot took a step forward like I was going to perform an acrobatic performance... on air... literally.

'OI!'

I smiled triumphantly as I managed to get my hands on the papers. I spun to face the guy to yell that I got the papers but realization hit. I gulped nervously and screamed when gravity did its job.

I saw him stretch out his hand to catch me but I'd fallen far from his grasp. I sighed and on cue, the pain hit my whole back and I was soaked in the river. I groaned and stayed still. Since the water was knee-high, I needn't to worry about drowning.

'Oi! Are you okay, miss?!' the guy yelled from up there. The bridge wasn't so high from the river so his yell sounded like a real yell. If you know what I meant...

'Bacchiri*!' I shouted back at him.

He ran from his spot and not more than 30 seconds, he was already by the riverbank*. I stood and went to where he was standing. He reached out one hand and pulled me out. I lied down on the grass, panting.

'Thanks a lot.' I said.

'You're welcome but,' he glanced at the papers in my grip. 'How do we solve that problem?'

I exhaled sharply and examined the papers. 'Since it's typewritten, the ink is fine. But the papers are stuck,' I murmured. 'H-How am I going to answer the test tomorrow?!'

'You have a test tomorrow?!' he exclaimed. 'Isn't it bad? How are you going to read it?'

I frowned, thinking. 'I have the softcopy at home but I ran out of ink to print, and I was advised not to get exposed to computer's screen more than an hour.'

He stared at me, probably worried. 'I could've picked it up faster. Sorry.' He said.

I waved my hand. 'I was the one who didn't let you take it; it's entirely my fault. And anyway, the test is not that important so don't mind, I'll manage somehow.'

He nodded once and looked away.

'Name's Sorano.' I held out my hand.

He smiled slightly. 'Kageyama.' And shook my hand.

'OH!' I beamed. His eyes widened. 'Karasuno's setter, Kageyama Tobio!'

**** WRAPPED ****

Note:

BACCHIRI*- It means perfect/perfectly. If you've ever heard of the song, Good Morning Friday, then there's the part where it goes, "kamigata mo bacchiri OK!", which means "...and my hair is perfectly OK!"

RIVERBANK*- correct me if I'm wrong. The place is similar to Aoharaido's grass-don scene of Futaba and Kou.
