Chapter 63

Calum's POV

We all sat in the apartment, enjoying some guy time whilst films were on in the background. We chatted, laughed, made fun of each other, all the usual stuff we had seen a lack of in the last few months because of everything that had gone on. It was nice to finally see us all getting on like we used to. We all sat and chatted about the girls, what they meant to us and how glad we were that they all got along. There were times when it hadn't been easy, don't get me wrong, but Poppy had fitted in like a dream and seemed to bring out a different side in the other three girls that meant they were all getting along better. That was until the door flung open...

"Don't even speak to me! You didn't do anything to help!" I could hear Bex's voice before any of them even walked through the door. She stormed in swiftly, rushing straight for Ashton's room. She didn't even look over and acknowledge the four of us sitting in the front room.

"Oh yeah cos she's perfect isn't she?" Crystal snapped back, making her way through the door after Bex. "We did try to help!" She stopped midway through the room and suddenly looked over to us, her eyes widening as she realised this was all going to explode in front of us all.

"Tried to help?" Bex spat, spinning round quickly to glare at Crystal. Sierra and Poppy were quick to run in the room afterwards and finally, Dave made his way in quietly and shut the door behind him as silently as he could. He threw us a look that told us not to get involved as he went straight to his office and shut the door behind him.

"What the hell happened?!" Luke whispered to us, we all exchanged confused glances but didn't say a word, quickly looking back to the girls who were still arguing with each other in the room.

"Bex, please. Let's not make this an argument..." Poppy tried to calm whatever situation had come about but everyone was too agitated to listen. Sierra just scoffed.

"If she wants to act like this then let her! We did the best we could and she's being dismissive and ungrateful. When she wants to make up, I'll be at the other end of the phone." Sierra shrugged before leaving the girls and heading over to Luke, throwing her arms around him and pulling him into a tight hug, settling in beside him straight away.

"Babe, is everything okay?" Luke asked Sierra but she simply just shrugged, throwing her hand in the girls direction.

"I'm not involved. Let them argue it out." She said simply before she headed to the kitchen for a drink. Once again we all exchanged glances but said nothing.

"I can't believe you would let something like that happen to me!" Bex carried on, her finger pointing at Crystal and over to Sierra's direction. "I thought we were friends!" She held back a sob as she spoke, her voice cracking at the end. Poppy took a few steps forwards but Bex stepped back. "Don't, Poppy. Thank you for your help but I need some time..." Bex spun on her heels and headed for Ashton's room, slamming the door and locking it.

"Unbelievable..." Crystal sighed as she headed over to Michael, slumping next to him on the sofa. We all remained silent, too scared to ask or get involved in something that had clearly strained the friendships of these girls.

"She'll calm down in a bit I'm sure." Michael said, trying to comfort Crystal and make her feel better. Bex has been pretty harsh on them and I couldn't imagine how it would have made them feel. I glanced over to Poppy who was still standing in the same place, staring down at the carpet as if she'd zoned out. Crystal let out a flat laugh.

"I highly doubt it. While we were at the club some g-" Crystal began but Poppy was quick to interrupt.

"It's not our place to say, Crystal." She said flatly before walking into the bathroom and shutting the door behind her. My gut began to twist in anxiety. Something bad had definitely happened but we weren't going to know. Something bad enough to upset the four girls on one evening - and that was never going to be anything small. I stood up and nodded towards the bathroom.

"I'll be back in a second." I muttered as I made my way to the bathroom, knocking lightly on the door. "Poppy?"

"I'm fine Cal." She said quickly, which made me more nervous. I bit my lips together as I felt the lump in my throat growing rapidly.

"I'm not going til you let me see you. I want to make sure you're okay." I said strongly, not wanting to leave this so secretive. I heard her sigh loudly before she unlocked the bathroom door. Without hesitation, I rushed in and shut the door behind me, locking it again. "No one else can see or hear anything. Please let me know you're okay?" Poppy had her back to me and ran her fingers through her hair before turning to face me, showing me something I wasn't comfortable seeing. Her makeup was smudged and had run from her crying, her styled hair was now everywhere and across her eyebrow, she had a cut which had bled down past her eye and cheekbone. She looked like she'd been through a war and all I could think was how I hadn't been there to help her, how she'd had to go through something alone.

"There was a guy in the club..." she began, her voice cracking straight away. I rushed to her and pulled her in to me, wrapping my arms tightly around her to make her feel safe.

"What the fuck happened?!" I spat angrily. How could I let something happen to her? How could I not be there to protect her? Why did this happen?

"Bex went to the bar and this guy was all over her. I went down to tell him to back off but he was drunk or high or something. He acted crazy. He threw me into the bar and jumped her, trying to kiss her. I smashed a bottle on his head. He kept coming back for her and I kept fighting him off for her. I told them to call security and get us out of here. He attacked me and wanted me to tell him where Bex had gone so I headbutted him and made a run for it. We all got out unharmed but it was scary..." She said in one breath, wanting to rid herself of the terrible night's memories. "Then Bex turned on the others and started blaming them and saying they didn't help her. I think it was just because she was in shock and was defensive but it really upset Sierra and Crystal and then they kept making remarks about me being the hero and saviour all the time..." I felt tears soak my shirt, but I just pulled her closer.

"Don't worry, they'll sort it out in their own time. Bex went through something awful and I don't blame her for acting out. We did when things went wrong at the gig, so I'm not going to judge her. The others will get over it, they just need to cool off." I soothed as I began to stroke her hair.

"Thank you Cal. I really needed that. I'm sorry it was so dramatic. I just wanted a good night!" She said as she finally lifted her head from my shoulder. "All I want to do now is get changed and spend the rest of the night with you." She sighed. I let out a small smile.

"Don't worry Pops, that's exactly what I had planned for you too. I'll let you get ready but I'll meet you in my room." She reluctantly pulled away from me and tried to offer me a smile.

"Thanks Cal. I really appreciate it. I don't know what I'd do without you." She said softly, her eyes drinking me in. I just shrugged my shoulders with a smirk playing on my lips and blew her a kiss. I backed out of the room and headed straight for my room, getting the place ready to offer Poppy some much needed TLC.
