10. Wade In the Water
Mack finds Jesus building a casket, which Jesus says is a surprise for tomorrow and that tomorrow is a big day. I'd be running for the hills screaming. I don't care that it's Jesus.
Jesus and Mack walk on water. Mack is really nervous about it. I'm thinking this is one thing I wouldn't be nervous about, but then again, Jesus is building a casket and we're not sure why. Maybe he's brought Mack out here to drown him.
WHAT IF JESUS IS THE SERIAL KILLER WHO ENDED MISSY?
Jesus and Mack have a picnic. Be careful, Mack, there might be poison in that sandwich.
*weak laughter* I'm not okay
They have a conversation about free will. I do not adhere to reformed theology at all, but as always, this book goes to far in the opposite extreme. It says God does not force his will on us (which I agree), but instead submits to our will. I suppose technically the opposite of forcing is submitting, but I would not use that word. I would say God is allowing us to have free will and allowing evil to reign over the earth right now, but it's still all part of his plan.
Then there's a huge discussion (this entire book is one discussion after the other) about gender roles and why God made gender. If Gender and the Church was a major, I would be majoring in it. So this part interests me even if if doesn't go very deep.
