"SAFETY HAZARD"

🐍

THEADORA NOTT WOULD RATHER DIE. Yeah, you heard her — she would rather die a painful, excruciating death than be here right now. The seventeen year old watched as his father talked to Theodore, he was already trying to get him into his whole cult thing he has going around, he's literally fifteen! Thea cleared her throat from her father's office door, the two boys turned around to see her standing there with her arms crossed and a frown etched on her face as always.

"Come on, Theo" said Thea to a proud looking Theo who had a wand much like his father's in his hand, "Time to go"

"Thea, we're busy right now" Theo said pointedly, he too crossed his arms — it was a habit they picked up from their mother, when the Nott siblings did that — they usually wanted either comfort or some sort of barrier from the person in front of them.

"I'm sure your tea party can wait until I'm not the one who has to apparate you to the station" Thea rolled her eyes at her younger brother — Theo always had been more impressionable than her, always believing in the stuff their father told him, and ever since mum...

Well, she won't get into much detail.

"Theadora" Thatcher Nott came forward with the same glare as his daughter on his face, Theodore visibly stiffened but Thea stood in her face with a stoic expression, "You're getting older, dear, it's about time you start respecting our family, and the responsibilities that come with being a pureblood — you are of age now, I might not be able to protect you any longer"

"Good thing I never had any protection to get used to, isn't it?" Thea said and passed him a fake sweet smile, "Dad— oh oops" she said shaking her head, "Silly me, almost forgot about the respect part" she added, "Father, now if you'll allow us, we need to part"

Thatcher smiled, but it wasn't much of a smile that a father gives a child he loves — it was cold, and it was unnerving, it was a smile the Notts gave each other when they were struggling with every being of their fiber to not reach out and choke the other person, "Theo, go on, go with your sister"

Thea tapped her foot impatiently as she watched her father hug her brother and pat his back as he muttered something in his ear. Theo came out of that embrace looking way too happy.

"Ready, loser?" asked Thea and Theo rolled his eyes, "Hold on tight, don't want you falling off, and remember — if you puke on my shoes again, nothing's going to stop me from throwing you on that platform as the train starts running, understand?"

"Theadora, stop threatening your brother" Thatcher called out from the other room when Theo had turned around to give him a look.

"Snitches end up in ditches, Theo" Thea told her brother, he grabbed on to her arm and with a whoosh sound and quick spin that made them both a bit nauseous the Nott siblings were at the King's Cross Station that was filled with muggles as always, though if you paid attention — you could see some funny looking people making their way across with a trolley and an owl.

Thea does wonder how muggles could be so oblivious sometimes.

"Well, go on then I'm not gonna push your trolley for you" Thea told her brother giving him a slight push, and then taking a hold of her own trolley and pushing it around as she looked at the busy station — it did feel less crowded this year, Thea supposes some kids dropped out either because of Cedric Diggory dying or Harry Potter and Dumbledore — it's quite a half-and-half chance of both.

Thea made sure there weren't any muggles right between the platform nine and ten, and after one last look she ran towards the brick wall with her eyes closed — it had been seven years since she'd been doing this. Seven years. She still waits for the worse, she just closes her eyes and hopes she doesn't crash into—

"Bloody Hell" she heard a familiar voice say as her trolley collided with something hard, she felt herself falling backwards because of the force of the collision, "Merlin, Nott, two seconds into the platform and you're already falling down"

Thea grunted with annoyance as she got up and brushed the dust off her clothes, "What were you doing standing in front of the wall like that? Anyone would've fallen down"

George Weasley chuckled, "Not anyone, only people who still close their eyes before they run into the wall"

"Blame me for not wanting to fall down and get hit by a wall" Thea rolled her eyes at the redhead, his brother soon joined him and he greeted Theadora.

"Hey, Thea" said Fred, "Good summer?"

"Trash" replied Thea.

"Wonderful" added George.

The three parted ways when Daphne Greengrass came into view, a scowl on her face — Thea does notice that's something purebloods have in common, they always have that look of distaste on their face, it's almost like a defense mechanism, she thinks, if everyone thinks you're intimidating no one's going to dare and ask you questions about your parents.

"Careful Daph, I think I just saw a few children cry at the sight of your scowl" Thea joked as the blonde girl rolled her eyes.

"Ha ha" Daphne said in a dry voice, "I've had a horrid summer, I think I deserve to turn my smile upside down, if I please" the brunette grabbed her trolley and two girls made their way on to the train.

"Well, that's something we have in common" Thea said, the pair had always bonded over their family's views on blood purity, and though Thea's thought process very much used to be exactly what she doesn't want it to be right now, she understands that she'd grown — as a child she always knew something was wrong about the way she thought, but as she grew older she started to recognize more and more of the deep-rooted hatred planted in her heart, when her mother was there it was borderline, she would always protect the Nott siblings from whatever father had going on, but after her mum...

Well, you know how it is, the only difference between Thea and Theo (excluding the vowel change at the end of their name) was that Thea's views had changed drastically, and well Theo's had too, only not in the way they should.

Thea does wonder if he would've turned out to be different than he is if their mother was here, no, there is no doubt he would've — Thea knew her mother to be an angel, there was not a single bad bone in her body, which only makes Thea think more about why she would marry her father...

Sounds harsh, but her father wasn't exactly the kindest person around, I mean he goes around supporting a blood purist gang that thinks killing muggleborns will somehow make them pristine.

As if.

Thea does love her father though, she doesn't like him, but he's family, and he's spent all those years since Thea's mum died looking after the kids, and not once did Thea feel unloved at any moment, sure she had moments where she felt like she would've been better off without her father, but that was about it.

"Did your father try to rope you into cult Dracula too?" Thea asked Daphne who seemed to have immediately lightened up when she'd opened up the bag of candies she'd brought with her to the train to eat, the blonde always came prepared — she said that the trolley lady took too long to come to their compartment because they always took the last one on the train — mostly to keep their conversations secluded, and there would always be just the two of them in there, they'd even carved their names on the seats although there were some other names carved there too — Prongs, Padfoot, Moony and Wormtail, she doesn't know who they are, but they've got weird names.

"More than twice" Daphne said, she always had it tougher in the parent department than Thea, at least Thea's mum knew better, Daphne's parents on the other hand...

Yeah, not so great.

"Mine too" Thea said, she stretched her hand forward and Daphne only held the candies more closer to her chest, Thea passed her an annoyed look, "What? So, sharing's only caring when I'm the one doing it?"

"Took you long enough to figure out" Daphne said in a lighthearted way, and Thea rolled her eyes lovingly at the blonde.

The two were like this, they could insult each other, criticize the other when they're doing something wrong, share stuff, not share stuff, and go back to normal like nothing happened and Thea absolutely adored her best friend.

"Anything from the trolley dears?" Theadora could make out the trolley lady's voice from four compartments away, she immediately got up, digging through her pockets for some galleons, and she found around fifteen — she was sure she had more in her trunk, so she didn't hold back and practically sprinted towards the trolley.

In her way, just because her day couldn't get any better, she stumbled into yet another person — having already had enough of herself she was frustrated and said, "Hey, watch it!"

"Oops, so sorr—" Leanne Preece paused, she immediately turned on her heel and walked away from the Slytherin.

Yup, she's still mad.

Rolling her eyes Thea made her way to the trolley and picked out a few of the sweets, but then she inevitably felt bad — she knew Cedric was like a brother to Leanne, and she had taken away the only chance for Leanne to spend some time with Cedric because of the prank.

It was just meant to be a harmless little prank, Cedric wasn't supposed to land in the hospital wing for two days...

Of course, Cedric being Cedric had forgiven Theadora the second she opened her mouth saying he knew it was just meant to be a prank, and Thea was thankful, but Leanne Preece obviously didn't forgive her.

"Hey, Leanne, look I'm sorry about Cedric" Thea kept her voice soft and apologetic, "You know, I didn't mean for him to get hurt"

"Save it, Nott" the Hufflepuff girl said briskly, "Whether you meant it or not you're the reason Cedric was hurt, well, guess what? He's dead now, so I hope you're happy"

"Hey!" Thea said angrily as she turned around to face the girl who was already walking away, "Cedric was my friend too, don't act like his death is something for me to revel in—"

"Oh, really? Did he become your friend before or after he had sit in the hospital wing for two days?" Leanne said, her voice was venomous with hatred, "Guess it was good news for you, huh? One less bloodtraitor for you and your family to get rid of—"

"Leanne that's enough" Susan Bones stepped in, she guided the angry brunette away from the Slytherin, and Thea was left behind to think about what she'd said.
