I watch as the stars rise

and they light up the night sky

I watch the owl who is wise

take off and fly

I watch the animals rest

and they lay down for the night

I watch them the moon my guest

as it glows its pale light

I watch the wolves howl

and hear them sing

I watch as they stalk and prowl

as a hawk takes wing

I'm the one calling

this cool night

I watch a star falling

wishing upon this beautiful sight

I'm the one hoping

in my lone room

I watch the wolves loping

as shadows loom

I watch

silent and still

I make a notch

on the wood of my window sill

I count the nights I see

and take note of them

I am a spirit free

a little peace of a night gem

 but I'm the lone one watching
