How Lovely
Chapter 1 - How Lovely
Thousand years ago
Erebus was sitting on his throne. The large throne room was almost dark, the only light came from one small window but it wasn't enough to light up the whole room. He liked it dark, as did his wife who unfortunately spent almost all of her time in The Mansion of Night, in Tartarus.
"Tartarus" he thought himself and chuckled darkly. He felt sorry for his brother, who once was a kind-hearted and loved all of his siblings more than anything else. He and Tartarus were both beings of darkness, which made them have something in common. That's one of the reasons why they used to be inseparable while they were younger. Now that he thought about it, he still didn't know what went wrong. Tartarus didn't just transform into an evil being. No, he slowly became more and more bitter and angry. Bitter about what? That he still doesn't know.
Nowadays they're so different. While his brother enjoys killing and torturing every creature, Erebus only kills if he has to. Erebus sighed loudly.
Suddenly a bright light appeared in front of him and lighted up the whole room. When the blinding light vanished, he saw the Fates standing in the middle of the dark room. And being the honorable man he is, Erebus got up from his midnight black throne and bowed to them before sitting again. "
"What brings me this pleasure?" he asked respectfully. The Moirai looked at him approvingly before answering monotonously. "Phoebus Apollo has announced another prophecy", Erebus looked them shocked, but before he could open his mouth the Fates continued speaking all at once. "This prophecy is to keep as a secret till the time comes. Only you, Chaos and the Olympians shall know of its existence."
"W-why me?" Erebus asked stuttering. As soons as the words came out of his mouth, he smacked himself mentally. He was a primordial for Chaos' sake! He doesn't stutter!
The Moirai didn't look fazed at all, as if stuttering in front of them was normal for even primordials. Which, now that he thought about it, made a perfect sense. He broke out of his thoughts when Lachesis spoke up. "We believe that without your help, the prophecy can't be completed." This time, Erebus managed to hide his surprise and mentally high-fived himself because of it.
Erebus nodded at the Fates as a signal to tell him the oh-so-mysterious prophecy.
"A child of darkness, saved by his highness,
with the help of a companion, he'll become a champion,
he and the one-eyed, shall face those who died,
and without his aid, everything will fade." all of the Fates spoke together.
"Oh no" Erebus whispered quietly to himself. "So what do I have to do?" he asked.
"We need you to look for a boy." Clotho said vaguely. Erebus turned to look at her interested. "A boy? As in a mortal boy?" he asked intrigued.
"Yes" Clotho answered. "We can't tell you when, but you'll find him in Tartarus. It might take time, but you'll know when you see him." And then, in a blink of an eye, they were gone and Erebus was taken aback. He kept staring at the spot where the Fates vanished as if it could bring them back and answer his questions.
Then, he sighed again and ran his hand through his midnight black hair. This meant that he'd have to visit Tartarus. Often. How lovely, he thought sarcastically.
