When you sleep: when he's laying down next to you and has his arm gently above you and his nose in/on your neck, he holds your hand gently above your waist/hip.

When you are standing or slowly walking somewhere, and happen to migrate close to each other: he'll hold your wrist rather than your hand, so he can feel your heartbeat.

When he feels the need to protect you, he will either:
*hold your hand so that you could easily fall behind him
*hold your wrist instead to feel your heartbeat
*squeeze your hand tightly at random strengths, his knuckles often whitening and beginning to sweat but he tries not to hurt you

When you're running: he holds your hand loosely, but doesn't let your fingertips escape his no matter where your arm flies (you often mock him teasingly about it).

When you're walking distance: he holds it gently but perfectly fitted with your palms, letting you control if your arms swing or how tight you hold.
