Rainy Days
Ship: Solangelo
Nico cursed at himself internally, shuddering and keeping his head down to try to keep the water in his hair and not his eyes. He had forgotten his umbrella on his way out to work. It was only sprinkling when he left, but now that he's venturing the walk back home, it was pouring down on him, each drop hitting him like a bead from the sky.
It wasn't that bad. But it was colder than what he'd prefer, that's for sure. He felt sluggish, in soaked clothes, all the way to his socks. It was icky. At first he didn't mind, smiling a little as he found the idea fun, but now that it'd been fifteen minutes of nonstop rain and no cover, he profoundly regretted his decision to sleep late and rush through the door to his office.
Barely in earshot, Nico heard someone behind him yell, "Hey! Mister!"
He turned around, eyes up, and saw a blonde boy with a dark tan and a goofy smile running up to him with a purple umbrella. He came to a stop a moment later directly in front of Nico.
"Hey, you're soaked. Let's share my umbrella," he stated, without introducing himself.
Before Nico could protest, the man held the umbrella over both of their heads, stepping slightly closer to Nico, barely grazing Nico's personal bubble.
Nico clenched his jaw, the barrier blocking the beads from the sky from hitting his face as he turned his chin up to look at the man who'd decided to be kind today.
"I'm Will," the man beamed down at him.
"Nico," he responded shortly.
"Which way do you need to go?" Will asked.
Nico pointed a scrawny finger in the direction he was headed. They began walking that way, slowly as they struggled to match each other's pace and stay under the umbrella evenly.
"So what are you doing out here without your umbrella? Besides being cute," Will posed the question with a smirk and a casual attitude.
Nico blushed, surprised. Did he just call me cute?
"I, uh... Work. I was late for work," he shook the thought from his mind. No, I must be hearing things.
Will nodded, "Yeah, the rain earlier was pretty light... like your blush."
Nico stared at the road ahead. Nope, definitely not hearing things. He swallowed. Now that he thought about it, Will was pretty hot. And interested in him, apparently.
He smirked a sly smile to himself, responding flirtily, "Well, I like intensity better. Harder to confuse."
Will chuckled, "Me too... I like to be in control."
Nico's face was hot. They had quickly come to his stop, he hadn't even realize it. He paused.
He looked up at Will, confident but still blushing, and pulled out his phone.
"Your number," Nico clarified, handing it to Will, the hot stranger who'd offered to share his umbrella with him.
Will punched it in, "Call me?"
Nico hummed, "Don't even have to ask."
