Writing Update + Camp Camp Test
First of all, I'd like to thank all of you who visited/joined the stream on Saturday or even just wished me a happy birthday. I love you guys so much, it made me so happy to see you all care so much.
In particular, the huge message I got from -FluffyPotato- made me nearly cry tears of joy.
Secondly, I'm going to explain a few things. What this is, an update about my writing, and a plan for my books in the future.
I have a lot of story ideas planned, some that could be real books (ideas that aren't fan fiction or based on things), and others that couldn't (like one that is loosely based on FNAF: Sister Location, (don't worry, it isn't focused on the animatronics or have intense lore. This is a story, not a fan fiction) and the one that is slightly similar to what Future Foundation does before DR3, but with a much different story).
Some of these ideas, I'm 100% going to do. A few... I'm not entirely sure. This is where this chapter and my plan comes in.
Every now and then, I'm going to post something like this; either called a test, a sample, or concept. What's the difference you may ask? Let me explain.
A test will be me basically testing out writing for a certain fandom, like this chapter. This is so I can see if I want to pursue writing a lot for it, like Danganronpa, writing a little for it, like (at the moment) Corpse Party, or not at all for it, like Harry Potter. (I love the characters, but I seriously doubt I'll ever write a fan fiction with them. I may do a Harry Potter AU for a oneshot or something, but never use the actual characters except for maybe a joke or a fun cameo.)
A sample will be from a story I will definitely be writing. Why post it then? It's my way of seeing early opinions of it. People may think that the main character is a bit flat, so I'll refine them a little bit for the full story. Some people think that a character does something that the actual one wouldn't do, so I'll do some tweaking (which is kind of how my Danganronpa writing has progressed). Some people might even think a certain aspect or detail is bland or perhaps the background is very messy. I'll try to clean it up a bit and fine tune it so that it isn't poorly written, but still accurately portrays my message and is what I want to write.
Lastly, a concept is basically just that. A concept for a larger story. If I can't think of much for the idea, I'll write a bit and post it here. If people like it, I'll see if I can use it, but if they don't, I'll tuck that idea away to either give to someone else if they need an idea, kind of like inheriting a story, or to use part of it for something else someday.
This is a test to see if I can write Camp Camp well. Some of you may know Camp Camp, others may not. If you're the latter, then the next thing I have to say is for you, but fellow fans of Camp Camp may find it interesting.
Sometimes I want to shine the spotlight on some really cool or really good TV shows, web series, or other form of media through writing in order to help people find something awesome and cool, like writing Darkavant to help spread the word about a hilarious original show, or my chapter about A Series of Unfortunate Events a while back. This test is partially for that.
Camp Camp is an animated web series made by Rooster Teeth, well known for their other series such as RWBY and Red vs Blue (both series I may someday tackle) and their Let's Play and Achievement Hunter divisions. It is a show about a summer camp called Camp Campbell, featuring a trio of campers and one of the counselors as the main characters.
There's Max, voiced by Micheal Jones (Sting from Fairy Tail and Sun from RWBY), who is a vulgar, angry ball of loathing. Neil, voiced by Yuri Lowenthal (Sasuke from Naruto, Mercury Black from RWBY, and Yosuke Hanamura from Persona 4), who is a slightly awkward and wimpy science geek who isn't too weak to bring out his inner anger and vulgarity. Nikki, voiced by Elizabeth Maxwell (Winter Schnee from RWBY, Jenny Realight from Fairy Tail, Ymir and Freckles from Attack on Titan, Sae Nijima from Persona 5, and Midnight from My Hero Academia/Boku no Hero Academia), the super energetic and outdoorsy girl who is practically a wild animal in some episodes. And David, voiced by Miles Luna (Jaune Arc from RWBY and Felix from Red vs Blue, also one of the writers for RWBY and Camp Camp), the incredibly cheerful and happy camp counselor who just wants the kids to be happy.
There's also a cast of other colorful and unique characters such as Space Kid, the camper with an adorably funny love of space who never takes off his helmet, voiced by Lindsay Jones, formerly Lindsay Tuggey until her marriage to Michael Jones (Ruby Rose from RWBY and Kimball from Red vs Blue), Nerris, the geeky girl with a love of fantasy and roleplaying, voiced by Barbara Dunkleman (Yang from RWBY, Cosmos from Fairy Tail, and Jensen from Red vs Blue) and a handful of other voice actors like Shannon McCormick (Agents Washington and Iowa from Red vs Blue and Professor Ozpin from RWBY) as Quartermaster and Travis Willingham (Johnathan "Jonny" Ariga from Catherine, Thor from the Marvel franchise, Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist, Free from Soul Eater, and the current voice of Knuckles the Echidna from the Sonic franchise as of 2010) as Cameron Campbell , the founder of Camp Campbell.
The episodes are about the campers and the counselors from Camp Campbell, sometimes guest starring the two other camps nearby. Most of the episodes revolve around a specific person, usually involving their interactions with the main trio of campers, Max, Neil, and Nikki, or has the whole cast come together for something bigger than normal. Technically, you don't have to watch the episodes in order, as they don't really spoil prior ones, but watching them chronologically will help you understand the call backs and brick jokes of the series, as well as letting you see some character development from a god chunk of the cast, most notably Max, Nurf, another camper, Gwen, another counselor, and in a way David.
Oh, and the animation style may look very kid-friendly, something akin to Disney XD, but the show is DEFINITELY not. Vulgarity, sexual humor, adult jokes, and even hilariously violent scenes make this something not to show your younger siblings. Keep in mind that this show won't be for all ages, but it does like to poke fun at a lot of stereotypes, even going to the point of having a character that is nothing but one gigantic Hitler joke (Dolph, and I love him).
Now, I'm sure I've talked your ear off with all of this, I'm sure you came here for a Camp Camp writing (I know KoKomaedaPuff and -FluffyPotato- sure did) or maybe to see me writing something period (I don't know why you guys like my writing so much), so without further ado, the Camp Camp test!
If you guys like this, please tell me and maybe I'll turn it into an actual story here on Wattpad. Enjoy, and this is Nick, or TheEmeraldLegend, signing out! Peace!

David and Max stood at the entrance to Camp Campbell, one excitedly waiting for the bus with the new campers to arrive while the other was wishing he was anywhere else in the world right now.
"Can you believe it, Max?" David cheerfully asked the boy, "We're getting not one, not three, but two new campers today!"
Max titled his head up to look at David's eager smile. "David, you used that exact same fucking line when Nikki and Neil showed up. Seriously, word for word. Can't you come up with anything new to say to try to make me feel happy that will fail miserably?"
David frowned, not liking Max's attitude. "Now Max, I brought you with me to wait for these new campers because your attitude has still been very poor after everything that's happened."
"After everything that's happened!?" Max suddenly shouted. "Name one thing at this shitty camp that's been good!"
David put his hands on his hips. "Well, everyone's been enjoying our activities. Why, I haven't seen anyone happier than Nikki during our campfire last night!"
"That wasn't a campfire, David," Max told him, "Harrison accidentally set his stage on fire. You just decided to have us roast marshmallows while I threw your guitar in there."
"So that's what happened to it..." David realized. "It's a good thing I have spares!"
"Hey Max, have you seen one of David's guitars?" Nikki had walked up to the two while they were talking. "I need something to burn. We're having weenies for lunch!"
"Nikki, you're just in time to join us in waiting for the new campers to arrive!" David exclaimed with energy.
"New campers?" Nikki asked. "What camps are they joining?"
David recalled the information from the forms. "Well, one of them signed up for Adventure Camp, and the o-"
"Adventure Camp!?" Nikki turned to Max, ignoring the other camper's camp. "Do you know what this means, Max!?"
"That you'll have someone else to bite and play in the dirt with?" Max sarcastically replied.
"My title of the best Adventure Camp camper is being threatened! I might become the worst Adventure Camp camper!" Nikki was beside herself with worry.
"Now, Nikki," David hadn't noticed her ignoring his information about the second camper. "Just because we're getting a second Adventure Camp camper doesn't mean you'll be the worst. You'll both be the best!"
"Once again, that is literally impossible," Neil said, announcing his presence.
"Hey Neil!" Nikki greeted. "When did you get here?"
"Just now," he answered. "I got bored of helping rebuild Harrison's stage. I also got tired of him taunting me with his stupid tricks and dumb accent."
"Now Neil, you shouldn't insult people like that," David scolded, "or their accents. How would you feel if someone insulted your accent?"
"I'd feel confused because I don't have one, David." Neil answered.
"He's got you there," Nikki agreed.
"Max, why don't you explain why it's important to treat people equally if I can't, then?" David asked him.
"You don't," Max bluntly replied. "Nobody ever gets treated equally, even if there's no fucking reason for them to be. Have you not been on the internet at all?"
"I am ashamed of you three," David said, frowning. "You need to understand why it's important to treat everyone with respect, so that's why I've just decided to have you three help me show the new campers around the camp!"
"What?" Max grumpily asked.
"We're getting new campers?" Neil asked. "Again? Geez, you're just ASKING for more fires at this point."
"What's wrong with that?" Nikki questioned, missing the point.
"They should be here any minute!" David said, his cheerful demeanor returned. "And when they do, I want you three on your best behavior!"
"We don't have a best behavior, David." Though it was true for him and Nikki, Max felt that perhaps Neil could remain civil for longer than most in Camp Campbell. Doesn't stop him from lumping him in with the rest of them.
"Then at least try to be nice." David tried to compromise as the bus for the rode up to the entrance. "Aw, here there are! Now remember, don't be rude, okay Max?"
"I'll try to limit myself to fuck, shit, and asshole," Max sarcastically answered.
"Well, I guess it's a start," David reasoned.
"Thanks, asshole." Max responded.
The four of them faced the doors of the bus, patiently waiting for them to open. After a moment, they opened revealing... nobody. Nobody except the Quartermaster driving the bus.
David gasped in shock. "What happened to the new campers!?"
The Quartermaster sniffles his nose and spoke tersely. "Didn't show up. Parents were at the stops. Gave me these." He held out a few sheets of paper that David quickly took off of his hook. He read them over quickly.
"What do they say?" Neil asked with curiosity, but also slight relief.
"It says that they quit because they saw some very disturbing rumors on the internet," David said. "Who would say such mean things about Camp Campbell?" Max smirked behind David.
"Well," the Quartermaster said, sniffles his nose again. "Job's done." He closed the doors and put on the gas, accidentally running over David with the bus. David screamed as he fell to the ground. "Whoops."
Max smirked again at David's misfortune. "How's that for best behavior, asshole?"
