What To Do

Okay.

So, most of you know of my dream to become an author, yes?

I'm not going to say my writing is bad because if I do, I'm going to have almost all of you guys yell at me and be like "YOU'RE WRITING IS AMAZING OMG STAHP BEING SO UNCONFIDENT IN YOURSELF YOU DUMB FUCK!"

So I'm going to accept that I'm a good writer.

The thing is, I don't often have people complimenting my writing STYLE. They compliment what happens in the book, the plot. The comments that do address things like "I really like the phrasing in this paragraph" or "Holy crap, this chapter was so epic. I could barely look away" are the ones that make me feel like I can write a real BOOK. Not a fan fiction, which I do enjoy doing.

What I want to be able to do as a writer... I'll make a list.

Have a good, original plot that people won't say "Oh, this is just copying this other book" or "Geez, so unoriginal. Anyone could see that plot twist miles away!"

Phrasing, wording, diction, anything that can make the readers FEEL while reading the emotional parts

Characters that don't feel copied, unoriginal, plain, boring, or anything else like that. I want good, well written characters that people can say "This person is my favorite, they're unlike anything I've ever seen!" Yes, I know people will still say they can be similar to another, I'm fine with that, but I don't want them to say "They're EXACTLY like this guy!" or say they aren't written well.

A plot twist that people won't predict from just lazily skimming through the book. I want to properly foreshadow the twist, leaving hints in appropriate places and not giving away anything major until either at the climax or right before it. Like Heavy Rain. (Great game, btw)

I have two ideas for a book I want to write and send to a publisher. A while ago I heard a story about a girl close to my age who got a story published so I know that no matter how early I finish it, I have a chance. I'm not saying I want it done before I'm 17, I'm saying that I won't have to drag my feet and wait for age to let me send it in.

One of the ideas was the original story I promised you guys a long time ago but didn't write because I was waiting for a cover. I never told you guys the idea I had for it because I was afraid of someone stealing it, but apparently my friend says that the idea I have is plagiarizing some movie I've never seen.

Which is utter bullshit because you can't plagiarize a movie YOU HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN OR HEARD OF BEFORE.

I'll say the idea though, to see if you guys think it's good.

Title: Radio Ghouls

A boy ends up in a car accident several weeks after his uncle passes away. After the accident, the boy suddenly can hear a secret radio station. A radio station from the world of the dead. His uncle is hosting a radio talk show where he talks to newly departed souls. Meanwhile, a serial killer is on the loose in the boy's town and the cops are baffled by the insane nature of them. The uncle starts interviewing victims of the killer and the boy uses this information from the radio station to help the cops, along with him and his friends whenever the cops can't help, to solve the mystery of the killer as bring him to justice.

The book had several things planned already. The serial killer is called "The Pseudocider", because he kills his victims and then sets up the body to look like they committed suicide. Naturally, they didn't, and it's obvious they didn't, but all he does is place the murder weapon in their hand. "Pseudocide" is the ace of faking your own death, which is where the name comes from.

The main message of the book was going to be about death. The uncle, Charlie, is very upbeat and chipper when talking to the guests. He welcomes them, telling them they have no worries in the land of the unliving. Of course, these are victims of a serial killer, a train crash, and other methods that were out of their control. But then comes a suicide victim. The suicide victim comes on the show feeling very happy and upbeat that he finally escaped his horrible life.

But then Charlie snaps.

He suddenly turns angry, yelling at the victim for ending his life early, saying you don't just end it because it's hard. You stick through it, you keep going until it's your time. Nobody should ever end their life until it's their time, and committing suicide is not how the world tells you it's time to die.

You see the message? The theme of the book was going to be about the acceptance of death and the acceptance of life. When you lose a loved one, you shouldn't let that ruin your life. You stay strong and soldier on and live with their memories tucked inside your heart. You also don't end it all when it gets tough. You pull through, find a reason to live, talk it out with those who love you and keep going.

This is probably a terrible summary and I might be making a lot of people cry right now. I'm sorry.

The other idea I had was for a dystopian novel.

Title: Full Eclipse

"One day, the sun went down, and it never came back up."

The sun disappeared and the moon never left the sky. Eternally locked in perpetual nighttime, America panicked, only to be saved by the Moonbeams, a cult dedicated to worshipping the moon. It's leader, Lotan, cuts America off from all other countries and converts it into the "Lunar Colony System". Each state becomes a colony that lives under new rules that have been personally written by Lotan to work under the new "Eternal Night" system.

Our protagonist, Scooter, is a tomboy-like girl who just doesn't care about what she has to do as long as she doesn't get in trouble for anything. One of her best friends decides to join the rebellion to overthrow Lotan and find a way to bring back the sun and starts by taking back their home colony, New Hampshire. Scooter refuses to join the rebellion, but her friends drag her into helping them out. Scooter tries her best to only keep her friends alive, but is there something that can convince her to become a true member of the revolution? What secrets are the Moonbeams hiding? Who is Lotan? What happened to the sun? Will Scooter ever get that sweet new scooter she's been saving for?

As you can see, Scooter is nicknamed for her habit of riding a scooter everywhere. The Lunar Colony System prevents everyone but authorities from riding in motorized vehicles, and you must graduate all years of school to ride a bike, so all younger people must use alternative ways of getting around. Most kids use skateboards, roller skates, or do the old fashioned walking and running to get to school, but Scooter is the only one to ride a scooter in her neighborhood. Sure, there's others in other colonies, but she stands out among her friends. So Lauren Rider goes by Scooter to those who who know her.

Every time I look at this idea, I feel it's terrible and unoriginal. What do you guys think?

To be honest, I really do want to try to write a manuscript for one and try to find a publisher, but I don't know which one.

So, this is why I'm asking you guys.

Should I write one and send it off to a publisher and wait until later to write the other?

Or should I write one and send it to a publisher while I write one as a book on here?

Cause I can't write one on here then send it off. Cause then people won't buy it if they want to read it, they'll read it on here. Plus, some of you would have read it already and won't have a reason to go buy it. This s so confusing...

Just... Just tell me what you think.

This is Nick, signing out. Peace!
