Unexpected Visit (Nick v/s. TBS)
A/n: Get ready for some majorly cocky Nick though. I have been itching to write this ngl!!

It was no secret to anyone who payed more then ten seconds of attention that the girl who sat next to Thomas Sangster wasn't thinking about the boy she sat next to. Her eyes were glued to her phone even though she was pressed into his side, and her grin was wide, her eyes alight, but he knew it wasn't for him.
The twenty-seven year old actor had finally convinced the younger woman to go on a date with him, and from there they'd started actually dating. Yet, his girlfriend was often sucked to her phone and even while they were on a date, she still answered her text messages. Well, one guy specifically. Nick Jonas.... her ex.
Thomas had brought it to her attention a few times, but she always shut him down and moved on, brushing it off. She always made the same "We're best friends" or "What if it's important?" or some other excuse. She was blind, but Thomas wasn't. She was still in love with Nick.
His jaw worked. He could give it up. He could call her out and stop trying for this relationship... but he really wasn't one to give up. And he was really liked this girl. His fingers traced her arm through her shirt. He liked the feeling of her pressed against him, being able to feel every time she breathed in or out. He liked to be with her...
But her mind was on another man.
If she wouldn't change the relationship going on between her and Nick... then Thomas would. His arm tightened around her and she seemed to sense his irritation, putting her phone away and cuddling into him. This was his girl and no ex was about to swoop into her life and take her away again.

Thomas knocked on the door hard, face rather stern and serious. Not unfriendly, but determined and hard. No bullshitting around. When it opened, Nick was there to answer. The dark haired man's smile, which he'd been wearing, was gone instantly, no trace of it having ever been there as a rather unpleasant and wary expression replaced it instead. "Can I help you?" Nick demanded, stepping back away from Thomas.
Thomas squared his shoulders. This man was two years younger than him but they were about the same height - Nick was bigger though. Thomas realized he probably didn't seem very intimidating. "Hi, I'm Thomas Sangster."
Nick huffed silently. "I know who you are. You are dating one of my best friends."
One of Thomas's dark eyebrows rose. "Your ex?"
Immediately Nick was on guard. "Yeah... so? Digging into her past or something man? I can tell you now she doesn't put up with nosy behind her back bullshit. Just ask her to her face if-"
"I know how my girlfriend is," Thomas snapped. "You don't have any advice to give me or anything."
After pausing a second, Nick's hand moved on the door, his irritation rising. "So why are you here Mr. Boyfriend? If not to dig or push or prod or accuse me of something?"
Thomas nodded. "Look. You seem like a cool guy. I know me coming to your house at night is odd, and I'm not usually the kind of guy to be gung-ho about confrontation. I hate it, actually. But I adore her. I really do. I care very deeply for her. And the way you guys text and call all the time... While we're on dates, she'll even answer you. We'll be watching a movie and I'll look over to share a joke and she's texting you. Look, mate, guy to guy, I'm just asking you to back off."
Slowly but surely, a heavily cocky grin spread onto Nick's face. "You want me to back off because your girlfriend still loves me? Seems like it was a mistake to get involved with you at all if she's still into someone else..."
Thomas bristled. "I'm trying to ask you nicely. Let her move on and be with the guy she's with..." Nick rose an eyebrow, sensing to upcoming to challenge. "Or else." Thomas didn't like sticking his nose where it really didn't belong and he felt a bit awkward coming at Nick like this, but he was determined. He... he loved her. He did. And he wasn't going to loose her after busting his ass for get this far. Nick could sense the uneasiness in the older blonde though and his smirk only grew.
Stepping closer, looking back at Thomas with hooded eyes and speaking in a low voice, Nick chuckled pityingly. "What? Am I supposed to be scared? There's nothing you can do to me, Sangster. If she wants to talk to me instead of you, I'm already winning. I didn't know that it was that bad, and I was keeping my distance because I thought she was happy... But thank you for letting em know. Because now, I'm going to get my girl back. Because you might have the title but I have her heart. And I'm not going anywhere." Tension was thick between the two men as Nick stepped back again. "Challenge accepted. May the best man win."
Nick closed the door before Thomas could respond and the blonde stood there for a few seconds, trying to process and bridle his anger. He left the house with a hard expression and an even further enflamed determination.
If this hot shot cocky piece of shit thought he was going to randomly swoop in and steal the girl that Thomas had rightly won and had fallen in love with, he could think again. Nick might be intimidating, but Thomas was romantic and connective and when it came down to it, HIS girlfriend was HIS and she liked his romantic ways.
And, what Nick wasn't considering is that Nick had already dated her and the relationship had failed. Thomas had a foot in. He was in a relationship with her and her clinging to her past a bit wasn't going to change the fact that all of them knew that currently things were going good between Thomas an$her, and things had already flopped with her and Nick. She came, went, bought the T-shirt. Nick was a past memory. Thomas was the present. And he was going to be the future too.
Let the best man win, indeed.
