Wait hold up, the eye patch has a son?

"How bad is it?" Fury asked as he got out of the helicopter and was greeted by Agent Phil Coulson who took off his sunglasses

"That's the problem, sir, we don't know," he said gravely

As Fury and Agent Coulson came out of the elevator with Agent Maria Hill just behind them, Agent Coulson explained the situation.

"Dr. Selvig read an energy surge from the Tesseract four hours ago."

"Nelson didn't authorize Selvig to go to tests phase"

"He wasn't testing it. He wasn't even in the room. It was a spontaneous event"

"It just turned itself on?" Agent Hill said worriedly

"What are the energy levels now?" Fury inquired

"Climbing" Phil replied "When Selvig couldn't shut it down we ordered an evacuation."

Fury didn't want to think of the worst but he was worried. The Tesseract was a dangerous object, and all attempts at making progress were not working as smoothly as they had hoped. They even got the infamous Dr. Erik Selvig on the case, but they were not even close to knowing what exactly was the cube and how to use it. And now the Tesseract was acting up. It didn't seem so good.

"How long to get everyone out?"

"Can't be sure but it should be clear about in a half an hour"

"Do better" In SHEILD, especially as Fury became director the safety of their agents was important. Not to mention the unspoken fact that a certain individual made it more important.

"Sir, evacuation may be futile." Agent Hil said as they climbed down the stairs

"And we should tell them to go back to sleep?" Nick replied sarcastically. And why Fury wondered where his son got his attitude from was the question.

"If we can't control the Tesseracts energy there may not be a minimum safe distance"

"I need you to make sure the phase two prototypes are shipped out"

"Sir, is that really a priority right now?" Agent Hill argued

Nick Fury turns to face the agent "Until such time as the world ends we will act as though it intends to spin on"

Agent Hil then got a sudden realization-

"Clear out the tech below. Every piece of Phase Two on the truck and gone"

-That a certain Agent was in charge of handling the agents operating the trucks and security was still here. And that the agent wouldn't leave until the last minute, unless he had to, such as moving the valuable phase 2 prototypes.

"Yes, sir" and Agent Maria Hill left. Fury watched as Agent Hill leave. Fury reached the lab of the base. There in the middle of the room surrounded by a circular machine lay a bright blue cube. Agent Hawkeye was overseeing the room somewhere up on the ceiling as he watched Dr. Selvig greet Director Fury.

"Talk to me doctor"

"Director," Selvig said as he quickly walked towards Fury

"Is there anything else we know for certain?"

"The tesseract is misbehaving," Dr. Selvig said as another scientist tried to crowbar out the cube, but it zapped him.

"Is that supposed to be funny?"

"No, it's not funny at all... The Tesseract is not only active... she's behaving" Selvig couldn't find the right words to explain what was happening.

"I assume you pulled the plug?"

"She's an energy source" Selvig sighed out "we turn off the power she turns it back on" he tch-ed "if she reaches peak level-"

Fury didn't like where this was going "-We prepared for this doctor, harnessing energy from space" he said

But Selvig deadpanned "We don't have the harness."

Fury ordered Agent Hawkeye to come down from his nest and report. But just then the Tesseract's energy sparked and glowed. Agent Coulson felt the whole building shake alongside Agent Hill who was outside watching the trucks leave. And another agent looked back towards the building and cursed as he felt the ground shake as he left the area.

Out from the explosion of energy from the Tesseract was a tall thin dark-haired man with a menacing-looking spear.

Fury and Agent Barton tensed at the appearance of the man. The atmosphere of the lab was dangerously thick as they all stared at the man

"Sir please put down the spear!" But with that sentence, the man attacked and killed most of the men with inhuman speed and strength leaving the lab broken and fizzing. When Agent Barton moved to hit Loki, he grabbed the agents arm

"You have heart." And pointed his spear onto the agent's heart. Fury could only watch as one of his trusted agent's eyes turned the same bright blue of the man who came out of the portal.

"We need a response team," Director Fury said to the senate. Thus the Avengers Initiative had begun.

The agents of SHIELD gathered the candidates from all around the world.

"Is Clint comprised?" a person asked the Director who just finished talking to Steve Rogers.

"Not sure how but yes, Barton has been compromised," Nick said and the person nodded glumly

"You sure you want me to join the initiative?"

".... Yes"

"You sure about this?."

"..."

"I guess that's a no.."

"This person is someone only you could face and actually win."

"I'll do my best then... also if the Avengers will be a thing, that means all the candidates will definitely come right?"

"What else do you think?"

The person chuckled "Then I'm gonna ask you for some help with something"

Fury raised an amused eyebrow.

"I said, kneel!!" Loki shouted at the group of scared people who slowly went down to their knees.

"Is this not simpler?" Loki said opening his arms "is this not your natural state? It's the unspoken truth of humanity that you crave subjugation? The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity?" Loki said as he walked, and the crowd stared back in fear "You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel."

From the crowd, a brave elderly citizen stood when everyone else was not.

"Not to men like you," the man said in the tense quiet air

Loki smiled a crazed smile his blue eyes flashing in the night light "There are no men like me" he said as if he said a funny joke only he knew.

"There are always men like you"

"The last time I was in Germany," said a bright red and blue man with a certain shield marched forwards "and saw a man standing above everybody else, we ended up disagreeing."

"The soldier, a man out of time," Loki said recalling what the agents he mind-controlled told him.

"Not the one whos out of time" Captain America talked back. A jet appeared with its guns pointed at Loki

"Loki, drop the weapon and stand down" A female voice ordered. She couldn't get a clear shot as the man was all over the place.

Suddenly music blared in the air as Captain America fought with Loki. "Agent Romanoff, you missed me?" Ironman shot his hand ray at Loki as Tony landed. Both the Captain and Ironman aimed their weapons at Loki

"Make your move reindeer games" Loki raised his hands in surrender

" He really grows on you doesn't he?" Dr. Banner said looking at the video footage of Loki in the Hulk cell.

"Loki's gonna drag this out." Steve Rogers said turning the hologram off and him glancing at the space that used to show the video in confusion " So, Thor what's his play?"

"He has an army called the Chitauri" Thor answered "They're not of Asgard, no any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the Earth, in return, I suspect, for the Tesseract. I am surprised he took this strategy... it is not his usual style" Thor muttered the last sentence with a thoughtful face

Steve nodded " An army from outer space."

"So, he's building another portal. That's what he needs Erik Selvig for." Bruce said

"Selvig?"

"-He's an astrophysicist."

"He's a friend"

Natasha who was watching pitched in "Loki has him under some kind of spell," she said, "Along with one of ours..."

"I want to know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here." Steve ever the army captain. The Captain wondered as he knew war, and war is not won by being captured especially if Loki is supposed to be the leader of the army.

"I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats. You could smell crazy on him" Bruce didn't usually say these things but the Hulk was being a handful and Bruce was getting anxious

"Have care how you speak," Thor said wanting to defend his realm and his brother. "Loki is beyond reason, but he is still of Asgard and he is my brother"

"He killed 80 people in two days" Natasha deadpanned with a harsh look on her face.

Thor shrugged "He's adopted"

"That's harsh man" an Agent who was listening pitched in as he twirled a pen in his hand.

"Yes, it is not something proud of..."

"Oh, dam murdering 80 people is definitely something that is considered bad what else-"

"-uh no it is that in Asgard he would be considered uh... not a good warrior..."

"What?" The Agent startled

"In my uh youth I had led a battle of hundreds and won in three days.... And I and my friends sort of almost started a planet-wide war before I was exiled"

The Agent stopped twirling his pen "-Thus killing more than 80 in two days is nothing"

"In my defense, I was a different person before.."

"Yes, Dr. Foster did say something similar..." Agent Hill muttered loudly enough that Thor brightened up at the mention of his Lady

Bruce looked thoughtfully at Thor for a moment. Their culture was vastly different and he realized that even if Thor looked Human he was not human. "I think it's about the mechanics. Iridium... What do they need the iridium for?"

Tony who was walking in the room said "It's a stabilizing agent." And all of them turned to Tony who finished his conversation with Agent Phil "I'm just saying, pick a weekend. I'll fly you to Portland. Keep love alive" and Tony staggered to the table, leaving Coulson with a smile on his face.

"It means the portal won't collapse on itself like it did at SHIELD. No hard feelings, Point Break. You got a mean swing" Tony patted Thor's biceps as he walked past. "Also, it means the portal can open as wide and stay open as long, as Loki wants." Tony walked to where Fury usually stood

"Raise the mizzenmast. Jib the topsails." The Agents in the room turned their heads and looked to Tony with a face "That man is playing Galaga!" Steve turned his head to where Tony was pointing "He thought we wouldn't notice, but we did"

"How does Fury even see these?" Said Tony who covered one eye with his hand looking at the screens

"He turns," responded a young male voice. Tony faced a teenaged boy with messy hair with sea-green eyes wearing the standard SHIELD uniform.

"Sound exhausting," Tony then used his thumb to point to Percy as he asked Agent Maria Hill "Is SHIELD actually using kids for their dirty work?"

"I'll have you know Mr. Stark it's rude to point. And for your information, I am not a kid sir, I am a fully qualified agent of SHIELD." Percy answered

Tony whistled "They start young do they" And Percy snorted; if he only knew he thought.

"The rest of the raw materials, " Tony continued. Percy walked toward Agent Hill and stood there watching Tony go on about the cube. Percy looked impressed and took a glance at Maria who crossed her arms "When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?"

"Last night." Percy whistled and Tony gave a wink to the kid. "The packet, Selvig's notes, the extraction theory papers. Am I the only one who did the reading?"

Percy snorted "You're the only one who understood the reading," he said

"Huh," Tony said making an unconvincing act with a straight face "I didn't know that"

Steve sighed "Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?"

Bruce was walking back and forth with a thinking face. " He would have to heat the Cube to 120-million Kelvin just to break through the coulomb barrier."

"Unless Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect."

"Well if he could do that he could achieve heavy ion fusion at any reactor on the planet."

"Finally, someone who speaks English!"

"Is that what just happened?" Steve looked up to the ceiling and to the young Agent who gave a thumbs up at him "I guess it's English for that two genius' " Thor looked stared at Tony and Bruce who were talking to each other in unknown words.

"All I got from that conversation and Selvig's note where that the Cube could take millions of heat and still not melt, and the surface area of the cube radiates gamma rays that are somehow related to the quantum realm part of science and the iridium makes that the Cube can be used in any way if the heavy ion is fused together making the Cube a highly weaponized ball- uh square? Of energy. It makes you wonder how they used it to make weapons back in the old days" Agent Hill elbowed Percy at the mention of weapons and ordered Percy to go back to his post. Percy shrugged and saluted Phil and walked towards the guy who was playing Galaga

Steve still looked confused "The Cube can't melt and is very powerful" Agent Hill summarized

"It's good to meet you, Dr. Banner," Tony said shaking his hand "Your work on antielectron collisions is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster."

"...Thanks..."

Fury walked in with purpose"Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube. I was hoping you might join him."

"I would start with that stick of his. It may be magical, but it works an awful of like a HYDRA weapon." Steve could finally have a conversation

"I don't know about that but it is powerful. And I would like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys."

"Monkeys? I do not understand" Percy mimicked the witch death scene silently in the side to the Glalaga guy and Phil chuckled at Percy's anticks

"I do," Steve said pointing a finger at Thor wanting to show what he knew. Tony rolled his eyes and opened his mouth in a 'gah... really??" way "I understood that reference." Steve said looking around the room nervously

Fury stepped up "We need to talk about the course of action we need to take. Dr. Banner and Stark can look at the spear and Thor can tell us more about Loki." The avengers moved to a more private meeting room instead where every agent could hear them. Thor talked about how his brother was acting strange and the basic summary of his own past and Asgard, while Steve said that they need to find out what Loki was planning. Minutes passed and the door slide open. Tony- who was bored out of his mind looked to see who was allowed to come. Tony knew by experience (a poor female agent wanted to see Tony but was cut ordered out of the room.) He saw the kid agent march into the room.

"Hey agent kiddo, watcha doing here? Is he even allowed in here?" Tony turned to Fury and everyone stopped talking at Tony's remark.

Percy ignored him and just walked toward the Director with a smirk "Director Fury"

and to Tony's utter shock Nick Fury smirked back "Yes Agent Jackson-Fury?"

"Wait, wait hold up. Agent Jackson-Fury?" Even Steve had his mouth open in shock and Bruce looked back and forth between the two like he didn't believe it.

Percy turned to face Tony "What is it Mr. Stark? Is it that shocking that the Director of SHIELD has a son?"

At Tony, Steve, and Bruce's faces, Nick Fury snorted. "I think you just broke the Avengers, son"

"Didn't think that this prank would have worked so well. Thanks for helping dad" Percy took his phone and took a picture of the surprised faces.

"Son?! You have a kid? And hey! You better not post it anywhere!" Agent Hill and Agent Coulson were both smiling.

"You do not look alike?" Thor said very confusedly at his future teammates.

"Woah rude much?" Percy put a hand to his heart and looked at Fury with a fake hurt expression "Dad, Thor said that I'm not your son!"

Nick ever the protective dad glared at Thor who gulped "Uh, Percy son of Fury my apologize. Uh, my guess' that you are adopted?"

"Dam right. But I don't have daddy issues-" Nick coughed into his hand, Percy rolled his eyes "-As Loki does."

Tony snorted "Why are you here kid?"

Percy gave a lopsided grin "I have clearance"

"Got help from dear ol' dad did you?"

"Nope, all on my own Mr. Stark." Tony sighed at the mister part.

"Anyway, I wanted to prank you ever since you guys came here. But now that's done I guess I'll see you guys later. I have a photo to post online" Percy dashed out of the room giving a high five to Agent Phil saying he will send the pic later

"What did he mean by seeing us later?" Bruce asked still a little shocked to see the scary-looking Director of SHIELD have a son- not to mention a very likable funny son.

"Didn't anyone here read the files we sent you? My son is part of the team."

"What?!"

"The humans think us immortal. Should we test that?" Loki taunted Thor who was trapped in the Hulk cage. A crack on the glass was seen but not enough that the Asgardian prince could escape.

A mind-controlled agent was knocked unconscious by Agent Coulson who held a big gun.

"Move way please," he said aiming the gun at Loki "You like this?" Loki cocked his head to the side as he looked at the gun and Agent Coulson "We started working on the prototypes after you sent in the Destroyer. Even I don't know what it does." Phil turned the big-ass weapon on. The gun made a powering up sound as it glowed dark orange.

"I'm gonna find out" There was a clanging sound of metal hitting metal behind Phil. Surprised Phil turned and saw Percy and Loki aiming a dagger straight to Phil's heart

"I guess Celestial Bronze does work on you guys." Percy Jackson said holding a shield blocking the dagger. Percy moved quickly and out of nowhere, a bronze sword appeared in his hand. Percy swung at Loki who looked surprised but quickly blocked the sword his dagger. The two fought viciously and Phil wanted to shoot the weapon he was holding, to hit Loki but also wanted to see what the heck the gun did, but he was afraid of aiming at Percy to try. Percy threw the sword at Loki's face. In defense, Loki threw up a glowing circular shield of his own made from his magic

"Already given up?" Loki asked in answer there was a loud bang

Loki put a hand on his shoulder in shock. When he looked at his hand there was blood on it. Loki snarled at the demigod Agent

"Dam my darn aim. Fuck you, Apollo. "Percy said as his gun was smoking from the tip. Percy was a fully trained Agent, guns didn't affect the curse on the Poseidon children as much but he wasn't Hawkeye he misses sometimes, Percy just swears on Apollo every time he misses. I mean who can say they shot the god of mischief with a handgun?

Percy shot the gun again. But Loki gave a smile as he disappeared. He had teleported.

Loki was back to the controls. However, Loki was drenched in water and forcefully shoved away

"Son of Fury?" Thor said surprised.

Loki was drenched in water he growled and launched towards Percy. "You will regret this! I am a god-"

Percy's sword appeared suddenly again and this time Loki was unprepared and was slashed by Percy's sword "Huh no Ichor. I guess you are not of a god as much as you thought."

Loki growled. But he evilly smirked as he teleported again.

In the room, a sudden grunt of pain was heard and Percy's eyes widened

Thor shouted "NO!" as he banged on the glass. Phil Coulson had just been stabbed.

"Phil!" Percy shouted. Oh, Percy just hated magic. Percy jumped to the agent's side "Uncle Phil!" he checked the agent. Luckily it seems that the agent might just live if he got to the medic in time. Percy ripped off his uncle's jacket and used it to block some of the blood flow from the wound. Percy was angry, at himself for not keeping his uncle safe and at Loki who stabbed his uncle.

"Percy... Thor..." Phil said. But it was too late Loki had already pushed the button that made the cage fall to the ground.

Nick Fury entered the room and saw his trusted Agent and friend lying on the ground covered in blood and his son on his side trying to stop Phil from dying of blood loss.

"Sorry Boss," Phil said noticing Fury

"Just stay awake," Fury said worry visible on his face "Eyes on me"

"Percy, are you injured?" Percy shook his head

"No, I'm fine... But Thor is grounded."

"...I'm clocked out here..."

"Not an option Uncle," Percy said strongly

"This was never gonna work..." Phil said looking between Percy and Nick. Phil gave an awful cough

"The avengers... they need something to-"Phil gave one last blood-filled cough and passed out.

"He'll make it," Percy said, a harsh look in his eyes. "But he needs a doctor. Now."

Nick rose to his feet he reached for his comm, Percy touched Nick's shoulder to stop him.

Percy gave a glance at Phil "Dad... I know that the Avengers are not a team right now... But using Uncle Phil's 'death' is not the best way"

Nick sighed "Remember they are still good people. I hope you can make a better decision dad... I know that you are mad that Tony and Steve fought each other and they could have acted more mature... but still-"

There was a silence. "Agent Jackson-Fury. Message the Camps and send for reinforcements... and ask for Solace to come."

Percy smiled and saluted the director "Yes, sir." And he jogged off.

"Agent Coulson is down." Some Agents who were on the comm replied. "A medical team is ready to go to your location sir"

"They're here"

Natasha shuddered lightly as she put her hand on her comm, and heard Fury's words. She took a glance at Clint who was being dragged away by a medic and wondered if Coulson was alive.

Both Tony and Steve were stiff, not facing each other as they sat in their place at the table.

"These were in Phil Coulson's jacket," Fury said throwing the cards on the table "Guess he didn't get you to sign them before." Steve picked up the blood-stained Captain America card

"Yes, we were going to build an arsenal with the Tesseract." Nick Fury confessed "I never put all my chips on that number though because I was playing something even riskier... There was an idea Stark knows this, called the Avengers initiative. The idea was to bring together a group of remarkable people to see if they could become something more. See if they could work together when we needed them to fight the battles we never could." Nick looked at both Tony and Steve, with a gentler look he looked at Agent Hill who was looking at the ground her forehead had a cut from the previous explosion.

"Phil Coulson still believes in that idea. In heroes" Tony abruptly stood from his chair ready to walk out. But paused after the first step

"Still believes?" Steve who was being sad turned his head to Nick in confusion. Agent Hill who realized something and gave a small smile

"I thought you said Phil was dead?" Tony demanded

"When did I ever say that?"

"But-but the cards?" Steve sputtered

Nick picked up one of the cards "Phil will be very disappointed that his cards were ruined, and still not signed"

"Fury you son of a-"
