Back story:

Being born in Germany the year after WW1 is hard for people like Lilly. She is forced to scavenge for food. It was another ordinary day for Lilly. Only it was not going to last long. She is attacked by something. She was soon rescued by two strange-looking people.  A man and a woman. It was a day after the attack that Lilly was recruited into Torchwood. There she is exposed to a world of wonders. After rising through the ranks during WW2 she is taken from the world she knows and thrown into a completely different version. She then discovers that Torchwood three is hiring so she joins them.  She keeps the fact that she comes from a different time a secret to everyone she knows. She then encounters something that threatens to blow her secret out of the water.
