Chapter 3

Lilian

Lilian stood at the front door of her home, waiting for the school shuttle to send her to school.

"Why is the shuttle so late? It was not supposed to be here this late because I have only 10 minutes to arrive at the school before the first bell.... if I'm not there early again, father's gonna punish me again....." Lilian murmured as she stared at her watch, tapping her foot and walking left and right nervously. A few minutes later, the shuttle came and she groaned.

"I'm late." She murmured and she was right, as soon as she was at the gate, the discipline teacher (she's in Malaysian International School.) had gave her a warning and let her in the school but had asked to meet her parents. She groaned at her bad luck as she went to her class and saw the teacher was already there.

"Miss Page, please be seated." Lilian groaned at her luck as she sat in her seat besides her friends, feeling small as the other kids in her class started laughing at her. She took out her Ipad and opened the tab for the textbook for the first class of the day, listening and taking notes in class. After that, it was lunch time and all the kids went out to eat except her since she had not done her homework before class and had to finish her homework. After a while, she was released to go for lunch and she went to the vending machine near the canteen and bought a sandwich. A few classmates saw that and laughed at her.

"Ahahaha.....she couldn't even afford her food and had to eat vending machine food!" Lilian blushed as she ran from that area and found a secluded area at the roof and began eating her sandwich. After eating, she ran from the roof and to her class, realising that she was late for the next class but she had tripped over a rubbish that the senior in front of her threw on the floor in front of her and fell flat on her face. Everyone laughed as they saw her face-planting on the floor and she felt like crying, running into a corner and cried her heart out. She saw her friends coming near her but they never helped, just jeering at her.

"Boohoohoo....the rich girl is crying...." Lilian ran away again, this time to the secluded spot on the roof and stared at the clouds, feeling the wind caressing her face, blowing the tears away and breezing through her hair gently and feeling the sun beaming down on her face. She smiled softly as she had never felt so free all her life.

"I just love it here but people might think of me being weird again....." Lilian whispered as she watched the sun shining through the rails of the school rooftop.

"Why can't my days be like this....so peaceful and serene like the sea....." She felt herself close to crying again but she shook her head, not wanting to cry again.

"I don't even want to go back to class again.....I don't even want to go back home too.....but where will I go if I don't have anywhere to go too.....?" Lilian whispered as she stared at the sky in wonder and sorrow, as she thought of her mother who had died in a freak accident.

"Mother......what should I do.....?" Lilian whispered and she stayed there, listening to the sound of the wind and feeling the warmth of the sun warming her face. Soon, it was time to leave and she went down the stairs to the exit, waiting for the shuttle but saw her father's car at school.

"Oh yeah....I forgot that dad have to meet the discipline teacher....." Lilian murmured and soon, her father came out, looking disappointed at her.

"Lilian, you will have your lunch money deducted for next month....." Lilian stared at the sky as she followed her father out of the school gates.

"Mother......what should I do?" Lilian whispered as she stared at the sky, feeling sadness filling her.
