Lilian

"What is happiness you ask? Happiness huh.....I don't even know what is happiness."

A 13-years-old girl with long blonde hair and green eyes whispered as she stared at herself in the mirror. Her long blonde hair was tied up in the princess style, a crystal ornament sticking into her bun, light makeup which is the blush applied on her cheek, eyeliner and eyeshadow on her eye and lips painted with a pink lipstick, and she was wearing a pink tulle gown that accented her tall, sexy athletic figure. She looked pretty but if anyone had looked into her eyes, that person would flinch because of the dead like state of them.

She was the oldest sibling among her siblings, a younger brother and a younger sister, and was the one who had sacrificed everything for her younger siblings' happiness. She was supposed to be the one who was supposed to be happy together with her siblings but her family except her stepmom seemed to hate her, especially her father who said she looked like his ex wife, who was killed in a freak accident. He was harsh towards her and sometimes gave her the silent treatment whenever she did not lived up to his expectations however, her stepmom treated her as one of her own, sometimes giving her homemade muffins to cheer her up when she was down, and sometimes bring her to the park or anywhere she wants to go to encourage her not to give up.

"Lilian! Get yourself down here now!"

Lilian heard her father's voice from the stairs, and she flinched, not willing to look into the mirror any further.

"Coming father..." She groaned as she picked up her dress by the corners like how she was taught and walked down the stairs calmly, like how she had practised. She saw her stepmom's apologetic gaze and smiled sadly at her.

"I'm so sorry sweetheart.... I tried to calm your father down and ask him to not be so hard on you for today, but he did not listen. I'm so sorry..." Lilian smiled softly at her stepmom, not mad at her.

"Mom.... it's okay....." Her stepmom smiled sadly again and stood back, nodding to her father. Her father nodded and said harshly.

"You are going to Mr Raymond's social gathering dinner so no fooling around, or any inappropriate behaviour, understood?" Lilian nodded and her father glanced at her seriously.

"If you make any mistake, I will not give you your allowance for your school expenses. Do you hear me?" She nodded again and he nodded and left. Her stepmom gently placed her hands on Lilian's shoulder.

"Lilian, have fun and make some new friends ok hun?"

Lilian nodded and went to the dinner, making new friends but was teased soon after by her new friends. She was bullied by her new friends but she did not fight back and everyone laughed at how weak she was. After a few hours, she went back home and was scolded by her father but her father was held back from her stepmom.

"Gus.... just let her be.... those kids bullied her.... I heard about it from a friend of mine and you know that she speaks the truth....."

Lilian's father, Gus, nodded but said one thing before he left Lilian's room.

"Lilian, for next month, you will not get your monthly allowance from me. Do you understand me?"

Lilian nodded, glancing down at the floor, ashamed as her father left. Her stepmom gently cradled Lilian in her arms as she sobbed gently, feeling guilty that she did not do anything to lesson Lilian's punishment.

"I'm so sorry Lilian....." Lilian shook her head as she hugged her stepmom, tears forming in her eyes.

"It's not your fault mom.... you were trying to help me and that was enough for me..." Lilian glanced up at the night sky and sighed.

"I wish someone could save me from this hell...." Lilian whispered as she fell asleep in her stepmom's embrace.

Hey guys, welcome to the first day of emotional rollercoaster hell...I mean, my short story. I hope you guys love the first chapter because there are more heartbreaking things coming on the way and well....I won't give you any hints on how her life story ends so stay tuned until the end of her life story. You will see how tragic it is. Anyways, the next chapter will focus on Xander and this story is focused on both Xander and Lilian so there will be alternate chapters until the end of Lilian's life and then it will focus on Xander on how he cope after her death.
