Chapter XV: Nimroth

I pick up the book, slowly opening it to the  front page. I'll have to thank that woman with a reward when I get back to the castle for helping me. There's no way my dream would tell me this and it not be the way to obtain the phoenix dragon! If it wasn't somehow, then I'm just going crazy.

This book must have something important in it, I thought to myself, I mean, why wouldn't it? A random woman who I've never seen in my life says she has been waiting for me right after I have these crazy dreams about the phoenix dragon.

I read the first page, just the table of contents. I looked at all the chapters, carefully studying each name. Phoenix Evolution, The Age of the Dragon, How to Protect Yourself Against it, Aha! How to summon it. Wait, summon it? Not find it? I thought to myself. Why summon? Is it not already here?

I turn around to Delilah, "Do you know anything about this?" I asked her.

She looked at me like I was crazy, "Me? I was only told to help you and only you find it! I haven't read a single page of that book, and I don't intend to. I heard the phoenix dragon can give you bad luck, so I try to stay away from that stuff."

I looked back at the book, flipping to page fifty-three where the chapter starts.

It read; The Phoenix Dragon, a mythical and majestic creature, but no one's ever seen it. Why is that? Because the only way to see it is if the current phoenix were to summon it, but almost no one knows that. The only person that does know is me, the current phoenix, Alana. Unless if someone were to read this in the future. If someone is reading this, please know that it is a dangerous beast and that summoning it could lead to great disaster. Believe me, I speak from experience. The beast is almost impossible to tame, and the only person that can is the current phoenix or someone that it trusts.

It's taller then you would ever imagine, larger then the tallest towers and hotter then a hundred suns. It's extremely dangerous, so please, if the current phoenix is reading this, don't summon it unless you have to protect yourself. The way to summon it is simple, just say the words Forestum Luncick.

I closed the book out of anger, now knowing that the only way to summon it is if I find the phoenix, which would be almost impossible, because there is only one! The only way I would find him is if she came straight to me, which wouldn't work. Unless...

"So, you said that you know nothing of the phoenix dragon?" I asked, she nodded her head.

I ran out the door with the book in my hands, going straight to the castle. Oh, but how could I be so ignorant. Right as I walked out the door, a group of Satyrs and came walking up the stairs.

"Hey, look! Isn't that king Nimroth?" One of them said as they pointed to me.

Ah, shoot. I ran past them, knowing that they wouldn't let me leave for so long and that they'd probably also draw a crowd.

I dashed to the castle, dodging people how kept asking questions, mostly about the war. I haven't really been keeping people updated on the war that much, only telling them that we've won each battle so far. People are wondering how good it's really going, though, so I guess they all just want to know.

I finally made it to the castle, and I ran inside. Huh, the door's open, I thought, probably just one of the trolls leaving it open. Idiots.

I ran up the stairs, going straight to my room, because I know I have a book about phoenix's, but I've just never gotten around to reading it.

"Hey, you," I said as I saw one of my guards guarding my room, "Go and tell the trolls that they need to prepare for war. We'll be heading out soon, and I want them to be prepared. Tell them I'm coming this time to prevent any mishaps."

"Yes sir." He responded as he ran down the hallway.

I opened the door to my room and headed straight to my book shelf. I scanned through them until a certain book stood out to me; A Phoenix's Life Guide.

I reached for the book and opened it to the table of contents, knowing that it's useful and will help me find what I'm looking for fast. My body shook from being nervous, for now I could have the most powerful beast in the Isle in my possession, and maybe even on Earth.

I saw a chapter that read 'A Phoenix's Habitat', so I flipped to the page number.

It read; The Phoenix is very rare, but easy to find at the same time. It likes hot areas, such as volcanos, the West and the South. It isn't very picky about where it stays usually, but if it has the chance, it will easily choose one of these places listed above. Although, if something were to ever go wrong and the phoenix gets killed as its human form, it will not burn to ashes and reproduce, but will be extinct forever.

I thought for a moment, thinking if the phoenix could even still be alive. I mean, if it was about to die, it would probably just stay or switch back into its phoenix form, right? If it didn't, it would just be stupid.

I closed the book and threw it on my bed, satisfied. Now I know where the phoenix could be, and I have almost conquered the entire Isle. Maybe next I should take over Earth! Wait, that could actually work.

I think if I had control over the phoenix dragon, I could conquer anything I wanted to! I'll make you proud, dad. You too, brother.

I walked out the door, heading over to the stables where my men prepare and train at. I walk down the stairs and go down the hallway, heading for the giant wooden doors that lead outside. I walk out the door, turning the corner and bonking heads with one of my guards on his way back to duty.

"Oh, sorry, sir. I didn't see you there." He said.

"Ugh, idiot. Get back to your position," I said, "Or I'll have your head!"

He ran off to my room and I continued walking towards the stable. I arrived there to see some of them sharpening their swords while others put on armor. Finally, they listened to what I told them to do! That's a first...

"Sir, hi! We ready to leave, just give command to us and shall we go." The commander said, but they obviously weren't ready to go.

"Finish sharpening your swords, get your armor on and saddle up the horses. We ride at dawn." I said, furious that they aren't ready yet.

"At dawn, sir? But ready we be, and ready for war we be!" He said.

"Well, you guys obviously aren't ready, and I'm not going to the West to lose. Besides, they don't even know that were coming, so we have all the time in the world. Now get ready, only four hours of sleep tonight! Spend all night training."

"Sir, we actually are ready. We are super good fighters!" One of the trolls laughed.

I grabbed a knife out of my pocket and started fingering the tip of it, "Well, if you're ready, then you should be able to dodge this," I said as I flung the knife at him. Bullseye.

"Y-yes sir. We shall train all night until we be the best fighters!" One of them said.

I turned around, satisfied. Well, only a little. If the phoenix wasn't there like I think it would, then my goal is not completely accomplished. This war will never actually end until I have the phoenix dragon in my possession.

I walk to my room and lay down in my bed; I don't have to stay up late like those fools out there. I try to go to sleep, but knowing that I'll probably have another one of those dreams about the dragon terrifies me. Although it might help me get closer to finding the dragon, I don't want to risk me going to sleep and not waking up.

You know what? Dreams can't kill you, I'm tired, and me having the dragon in my possession is worth anything. Good night.
