Ryan's POV
"Riooooo!!" I exhaled as I stepped into the track and field arena. My girlfriend of 4 years was racing in the 100 meter dash and I couldn't be more proud of her. I've known her for the last 7 years of my life and they have been some of the best 7 years I could ask for. But little did she know, she was in for a surprise. I sat down in my seat and made conversation with the man next to me. He came up to me first. "You look familiar." He blurted and I turned to look at him. "Hockey fan?" I asked and he nodded. "Ya. Mostly the Canadiens, though." He added and I nodded. "I play for the Oilers. The names Ryan, Ryan Nugent­Hopkins." I said and his mouth opened wide. "Woah man! I'm sitting next to an Oilers player! Dude, what are you doing out here? Shouldn't you be doing some crazy offseason workout?" He wondered and I nodded. "I really should," I nodded with a breathy laugh "but my long term girlfriend is racing and I wouldn't miss it for the world." I smiled, turning towards to the track to point to my beautiful girlfriend. She had her hair in a ponytail, wearing her Team Canada track uniform. They started to get on the starting line and I immediately converted all of my focus to the beautiful woman in Lane 4. "Runners take your mark." The automatic voice said and the pistol shot off, as well as my girlfriend. Her wheels turned on and she was absolutely sprinting through the line. "Man, look at Y/N L/N of Team Canada go! She's a full 3 strides ahead of the 2nd place runner!" If this isn't the coolest snap story you've ever seen, what is. "Finish strong baby!" I yelled to her and she sprinted to the finish line. I looked up at the clock for the time. "And Y/N L/N of Team Canada finishes with a world record time of 9.83! This record has been in place for the last 28 years and she has shattered the record by almost a full second!" The announcer and I gleamed with joy and pride. The guards had let me down, I had informed them of the plan and after a scan of my body which by the way was very odd and I felt very uncomfortable, they let me down. Y/N saw me waiting towards the edge of the wall as she was on the podium and she smiled brightly at me, tears running down her face. She had worked so hard to get here and she was finally on top, where she belonged. After the photographers told her that she could leave, she bolted into my open arms and I grabbed her in my arms, picking her up and spinning her around, only stopping so I could kiss her. "I'm so proud of you." I breathed out, on the edge of tears. "I couldn't have done it without you." She smiled and I wiped away her tears. "Wanna know something about me?" She asked and I nodded. "In 4th grade, I had the slowest mile time in my class. And 5th grade. And 6th grade." She told me and I smiled. "And look where you are now." She grinned widely and I smiled at her. I started moving my feet around on the ground. "What are you doing?" She asked and I smiled. "Just making sure the ground is clean so I can do this." I got down on one knee and reached into my pocket for the ring. Her hands flew up to her mouth and I grinned at her, both of our eyes lined with tears. "Y/N, I've known you for 7 years and they have been the best 7 years of my life. I don't know what I would have done if I didn't ask you to be my girlfriend 4 years ago. I can't live without you and your competitive nature, love for hockey, spaghetti and meatballs, Tim Hortons, and running. I love you so much. Please, spend the rest of your life with me." I pleaded, the crowd cheering "Say yes!" She nodded and I grinned, slipping the ring onto her finger and picking her up and spinning her around. The crowd went crazy, but beneath the noise, I could still hear my queen tell me she loved me.
