the panic was real when you looked at your score to see that you had gotten a 39% on a test you studied for what seemed like forever.

you were anxious for the rest of the day. matthew knew very well from the texts that he had been getting.

he got home from practice and set up a nice relaxing night plan for the both of you to just unwind from a stressful day.

matthew had your favorite takeout and bottle of wine sitting on the coffee table for when you came home from school. being the child matt is, he also set up a blanket fort that you could watch a movie in.

when you stepped in that door and saw matthew on the couch with a welcoming smile on his face, you could have started crying.

"you did this all for me?" you asked him with a little sniffle.

matthew smiled and nodded. he pulled you in by the waist and kissed your lips firmly, "of course my love. i know you had a bad day and i want to make it better."

you smiled and placed your head on his chest.

"are you hungry sweetheart?" he asked delicately.

you nodded and removed your head from his chest to go climb into the blanket fort. you picked up the takeout and kept your eyes on the tv which held a show that both you and matt absolutely adored.

when you were both done eating, the bottle of wine was cracked open and you sipped on it together.

"oh i got you your favorite snack." matthew said and ran off quickly to bring back the snack.

you kissed his lips and smiled, "thank you matty. you're the best." you whispered and leaned your head on his shoulder.

he ran a hand through your hair and moved your head gently down to his lap to give you a head massage.

you relaxed in his comforting grasp.

"are you feeling any better?" matthew asked in a gentle whisper.

you sighed and nodded.

you were feeling way more relaxed than you had when you came home all in a mess. matthew just had that intoxicating effect on you that made you forget a whole day's worries in 30 minutes.

you picked your head up out of his lap and snuggled into him. he pulled you closer to his body by your hips and kissed your lips swiftly.

your eyes began to flutter open and shut as you tried to keep your eyes trained on the tv.

you finally gave up trying to stay awake. you placed your wine glass on the coffee table and let yourself fully melt into matt's arms.

matthew held you a little tighter and kissed your temple.

"good night my love."

and with that your eyes fell closed and the weight
of the heavy day was lifted off of your shoulders. all because of matthew.
