brady tkachuk // ottawa senators
requested by thesarangsense
you travelled to ottawa to watch brady play after you had gotten a day off from work.
the senators were playing the anaheim ducks.
it wasn't very often that you got to see brady play or even see him. long distance was hard, but you guys always made it work.
you put on your tkachuk jersey. you were going to the game with a few of the other wags as your company.
you got to the canadian tire centre. all of you got a drink before parking into your seats for the night.
you watched the game intently and you could tell brady was not proud of himself. he was not having a good game in the slightest, from stupid penalties to giveaways in the neutral zone that ended up in their net. he wasn't playing his best game.
every mistake he made made you wince. you watched him go to the bench and break his stick and get lecture after lecture from the coach. it wasn't as fun as usual.
a groups of senators fans had even began to boo him when he got on the ice which was only making it worse for you and him. you were worried for him. you were worried of how he was going to act after the game when you went down to the dressing room to see him. maybe he wouldn't wanted to see you at all.
you began to overthink as the group of fans began to boo again, signalling that brady was back on the ice. you couldn't even pay attention to the game. as much as you wanted to see brady, you really wanted to go home at this point.
the booing ceased for a while and you picked up your head to continue watching the hockey game.
the score of the game was 1-4 ducks going into the third period.
you tried your best to keep your utmost attention on the game and make sure your thoughts didn't get the best of you. that didn't end up working very well when you saw brady drop the gloves and fight josh manson.
you inched to the edge of your seat as the play was blown dead and josh and brady began to throw punches.
"fuck brady." you mumbled under your breath, nervously.
both players got good punches in on each other, but at the end brady took the upper hand and smacked josh manson down to the ice. the refs pulled them off of each other and brady skated over to the box.
you let out a sigh of relief as it looked like he was just fine.
the senators ended up losing 5-2.
after the game, you walked quickly down to the locker rooms. you wanted to see brady in a bad way to see if he was okay both mentally and physically.
you patiently waited outside of the dressing room. as soon as you saw brady come out, you rushed over to him.
"brady."
his attentions fully went towards you.
"hi kelli." he said in a low tone.
he hugged you close.
"are you okay brady?" you asked quietly.
he shrugged and you could see the tears well up in his eyes.
"let's go home, okay?" you rubbed his back.
he nodded and rubbed his face.
you made your way back to brady's place. you settled into his bed, but he just paced around his room.
"didn't you hear them kelli? the home fans were booing me." brady said sadly.
"brady, my love, you know that fans are hard on you guys because they don't like seeing their team lose." you tried to comfort him.
"i deserved it. i played so shitty tonight." his voice cracked.
you looked at him sympathetically, "everyone has bad nights darling." you waved him over to you, "come here brady."
brady laid down in bed and placed his head on your chest. you knew exactly what he wanted you to do. he wanted you to play with his hair and you did it. it always helped relax him.
"brady, even if you had a bad game tonight, you have to remember you have so many more games ahead of you to redeem yourself. even the best players in the world have bad games. it's not all your fault, but what you need to stop doing mister is giving me heart attacks by going and fighting." you consoled.
brady chuckled, "i'm sorry baby." he said in a babyish tone.
"you can show me your sorry by not doing that again." you said hopefully.
he hummed, "i can't make you any promises kelli, you know that."
"yes i do my love." you smiled, "yes i do."
