Y/N POV:

You and Nate have been best friends since diapers, you guys have been through a lot together, grew up with the same type of families, a pill junkie mom and abuse step father, real father lives in Vegas with a new family. You wake up in your room, looking around you sigh and get up. You get dressed for the day and head out for your morning jog, Nate wasn't home yet from shopping so you didn't have to stop to tell him where you were heading. You exit the house, locking it up, you put your headphones in and hit play on your playlist, Olivia O'Brien blaring through your headphones. You jog down the street, you look both ways before starting to jog across the street, but as your jogging a car comes out of nowhere and hits you. You fly about 5 feet back, rolling across the pavement and everything turns black.

Nate's POV:

As I'm heading home I stop my car fast at the sight I witness in front of me, my blood goes cold as I watch y/n fly 5 feet back from the car that just hit her, she rolls and losses Consciousness, I get out of my car, running as fast as I can towards her, pulling out my phone as I go, I dial 911 as I reach y/n's still body, blood was pooling around you, your life slipping away slowly. I speak into the receiver frantically,

"I need an ambulance right away to 5th and 3rd my best friend y/n was just hit by a car while she was jogging, it was clear one second and the next I saw them hit her and she's losing a lot of blood, her pulse is fading a bit, slowing down."

"Ok sir please stay on the line, I'm calling for help now, keep your fingers on her pulse and let me know if it stops," the dispatcher says.

"O-Okay," I say shaking a bit as I keep my fingers on your weak pulse.

A few moments later sirens are blaring through the streets, an ambulance pulls up next to us, two EMTs coming out of the ambulance with a stretcher, they load you onto it and into the ambulance I quickly run to my car getting in and following the ambulance, once at the hospital we rush inside, they don't let me pass a certain point, it takes hours before a doctor comes out to talk to me, explaining the intense injuries, then leads me to see you.

When I walk into the room, tears form and fall from my eyes, the sight of you beat up and hooked up to machines was heartbreaking, you were slowly waking up when I sat next to you, I take your hand in mine and lean down so I'm closer to you,

"Y/n I have to confess something, I'm in love with you, I have been for years now."

You look up at me and a smile forms, you quietly say,

"I've been in love with you too Nate, I just couldn't express it after all we went through with our childhood abusers."

I get down on one knee and pull out a small box I've been hiding for awhile now,

"Y/n I promise to always be there for you and to always love you, it's a miracle your alive the doctor said so, will you do me the honor and marry me?"

You begin to tear up and nod like crazy then flinch in pain, laughing a bit,

"Oh yes I will!"

I slip the ring onto your finger and stand up, I lean down and kiss you passionately.

The rest of Xmas was spent laughing and smiling I couldn't be a happier guy.
