If Blade Didn't Do the Plan (Part 1 - Magic Lesson)
Sarah's tail was wagging happily. This was her first lesson on how to use her fire magic, and her sister, Twilight, was the one who was going to teach her!
"Okay, sis. Y'ready?" Twilight asked.
"Yeah! Yeah! Fiwre time! Fiwre time!" Sarah chanted as best as she could. She was still young and didn't completely know how to talk yet.
Twilight giggled. "Okay, okay! So, first you gotta-"
She was interrupted by Blade's voice.
"Twilight? Sarah? What are you both doing?" He asked, walking over.
Sarah squealed with delight and ran over. "Big bwodah! Big bwodah!!" she said happily. Blade laughed and scooped her up in his arms. She grabbed his shirt in a hug, her tail wagging.
"What are you up to this time?" he asked her.
"Sis-ty tweaching mwe my fiwre!" Sarah said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Twilight giggled. "Mom's busy, so I was gonna give Sarah a lesson on how to use her fire magic. She's kind of a little excited about it."
"I can tell. And it makes sense why," Blade muttered.
"Fiwre time! Fiwre time!" Sarah chanted again. Her little white tail was a blur.
"Okay, okay, I'll let you go have your lesson with Twilight," Blade said, putting her back down. She giggled and ran back to Twilight. "Can I still watch though?" he asked.
"Sure! Just...you might wanna stay out of the way to avoid getting hurt. Sarah might get a little too rowdy..." Twilight warned. Sarah just giggled innocently, as if trying to say, 'me, rowdy? Never!'
Blade just nodded once before getting out of the way.
He watched as Twilight lit her paws on fire, giving young Sarah instructions on how to do the same. He was relieved he was able to avoid doing the plan, even though Chara still haunted him and made guilt overwhelm his happiness.
"You really let me down. I thought better of you," they muttered harshly. "Why? Why would you betray me like this?"
Blade glanced away. "...I'm sorry. I just couldn't do it. Sarah looks up to both me and Twilight. I can't rip her happiness away from her... if things go wrong like it did with you and Asriel, she could lose everything. I don't want that to happen to her."
"Who cares? I WANT THE HUMANS DEAD, AND I WANT THEM DEAD NOW."
"I'm not doing it, mom!"
"I CAN EASILY FORCE YOU!"
"I'M NOT DOING IT!" Blade screamed, raising his voice a little too much.
Sarah gave a startled shriek and fell backwards away from him, whimpering with tears in her eyes. The dim fire on her hands went out. Twilight looked at Blade. "Blade? Are you okay? Who are you talking to?"
Blade flinched away. "...no one. I'm not talking to anyone. I'm just gonna go in now. You both can continue without me..."
He turned and started walking back inside the house. Sarah whimpered and quickly ran to follow, concerned about her "big brother."
"Big bwodah?" she said quietly, peeking into Blade's room. He jumped slightly and looked at her.
"Sarah? What are you doing here? I thought you were still having your lesson with Twilight."
"But big bwodah sawd... diwd I dow sowmeting wrwong?" Sarah asked with a whimper, looking up at Blade. Her eyes glistened with tears.
He sighed and picked her up. "No, you didn't do anything wrong. It's me that did something wrong."
"Buwt youw diwdn't dow awnyting wrwong!"
"Sarah...."
She looked back up at him. In her eyes, he was the best big brother anyone could ask for. He told her bedtime stories, he gave her cuddles, he even shared his chocolate with her -- something he NEVER did with ANYONE....except maybe Myra, but that was different. But as far as she was concerned, Blade NEVER EVER did anything wrong. He was perfect.
Blade forced himself to look away. "...I'll explain later. But for now...I'm fine."
Sarah just whimpered and cuddled closer to his chest. Blade gently hugged her close to him. He knew she liked it when he did that. He never fully understood why. It must be a baby hybrid human-goat thing...or something.
It wasn't too long before she started getting sleepy and gave a small yawn. Blade smiled slightly.
"Looks like someone's tired."
Sarah yawned again. "N...nu..."
Blade just giggled a little and gently rocked Sarah back and forth. Her eyelids drooped and finally closed as she drifted into a deep sleep.
"Night, little sis," he whispered, then realized how tired he was and yawned too. He curled up in his bed with Sarah close to him before drifting to sleep as well.
