2 DAYS LATER...

(BRANDON POV)

Things had been going well for the two of us after my surprise in Jacksonville. We were officially back on our Smackdown schedules after the initial break we took, and the fans were really happy to see me back where I belonged wherever we went.

The Royal Rumble was approaching fast and everyone including both of us were building momentum faster than expected. One night, I was just about to pass out before Becky slowly walked up and laid down next to me.

"Hey."

"Hey."

"You Alright?"

"Yeah."

I sighed in exhaustion from the show that we had just got back from a few minutes ago.

"Long day?"

"Yep..."

She nuzzled in closer and put her arm around my shoulder.

"So... how were things when we split 5 weeks ago?"

"Eh... it was alright... quiet... restful... lonely."

"Aww..."

She remarked running her fingers on my face.

"I missed you too. You know... I couldn't stop thinking about you after we parted ways man. I mean it was a hard time to get through."

"Yeah... I'd understand that. I mean the two of us built a bond over my first run in the company and just like that... got injured... sidelined..."

"Made that epic return at SummerSlam."

I laughed a bit at that statement.

"Yeah... that too. Then all of a sudden after marriage I just take a break from all this and disappear for 5 weeks... "

"I mean hey... we got through it though right?"

"That we did Becks... That we did..."

We sat in silence for a minute before I noticed her staring at my neck trying to figure out something.

"You good?"

"Huh? Oh! Sorry..."

She giggled a bit.

"I was just admiring..."

"My neck tattoo?"

"It's weird... I never thought you'd be the type of person for tattoos."

"Oh I'm not... but only if absolutely necessary."

I said as I moved my head to show her.

"Wait... is that?"

The tat I got was both of our Ring name initials with an X in the middle.

"Maybe..."
I said nearly chuckling as she hugged me tightly.

"I knew I found the right one!"

"I guess us meeting in catering wasn't an accident huh..."

"Not at all..."

She said before we locked lips.

We kissed for a while before both drifting off with her head on my chest.

The next week we showed up on Smackdown ready to do business. Becks had a triple threat women's match to determine who would face Asuka for the championship at the rumble. Meanwhile, I had a segment confronting my canadian attackers from the previous week. Both of us knew what we had to do to show the world that we meant business.

When my segment arrived, I geared up and headed towards gorilla. Meanwhile in the ring, Kevin and Sami were on there usual tirade recapping on what they did to me last week whilst making (honestly terrible) insults towards me. Nothing that I hadn't heard before. When my music hit though, it immediately shut them up, and sent the crowd into a frenzy as I made my way out to the stage with my "I'm pissed" look.

"Kevin and Sami... you two ransacked the wrong guy man. I don't know what it is in particular that you want from me... but if you're looking for a fight... that... is what you're gonna get."

"And just who do you think you are cutting us off Mr. Nobody?"

Sami butted in causing boos from the crowd.

"I'm surprised you came back after leaving for 5 weeks after staying at home with your overrated Irish wife of your's."

The crowd reacted, surprised that he would go for the low blow.

"Huh... wow... didn't know you were that desperate for a pop."

The crowd laughed at my remark.

"Now if you'd excuse us the adults are talking here."

The crowd backed me up with that one and Sami backed up and let us talk.

"You know what? I do wanna fight..."

The crowd roared.

"...Just not tonight."

Everyone booed.

"However if... if you still got what it takes... this Sunday... you and I... one on one... and hell... I'll even put this on the line."

He said as he raised his United States Championship above his head and the crowd roared. I laughed a bit to myself.

"You have no idea what you signed up for... you're on."

The crowd roared even louder as I pointed to his championship and made the "title around my waist" gesture as my theme played.

I took one last look at my opponent and walked to the back after the show went to commercial. I met Becky who was sitting on a crate waiting for after my segment.

"Well... that's what you've been keeping from me..."

"Well..."

I played it off like nothing extracting a laugh from the Irish woman.

"Welp... I think it's about time for my match. Time to earn another championship opportunity."

"Damn right! Hey, maybe we'll both be champions after the rumble."

"That'll be the day."

She said before she hopped off and hugged me before leaving for gorilla. Moments later I heard her theme play and walked to gorilla myself to watch from the monitor in there.

Becky was up against some admittedly pretty tough competition in her best friend turned bitter rival Charlotte Flair, and Carmella. The match was undoubtedly pretty stellar, and Becky came out on top and got the spot to face Asuka at the rumble.

The champ soon came out to confront Becky as the two had a stare down to close the show.

When Becky came through the curtain she immediately rushed towards me and hugged me tightly. I embraced the hug.

"Babe... that was awesome!"

"I know... rumble time?!"

"Rumble Time!"

I said as we looked at each other and kissed for a minute before heading out on the road to the rumble.
