|Shaylee Love|

I sat on the living room couch with a pout on my lips as I ate one of my mom’s cookies. After dinner my mother put out the cookies for us too eat while the adults went to the basement and had a drink. Apparently the East’s had their own mini bar down there or something. I guess my old neighbors put it in. 

That’s odd because I’m pretty sure an elderly couple used to live here…

Weird…

Anyways, as I munched my cookie I couldn’t help it as my mood dampened even more. After I found that gummy caterpillar the satisfied smirk on Xavier’s face stayed there for the whole night. I excused myself and sat here on the couch until everyone was finished. I wasn’t in the mood for dinner anymore. 

Then of course everyone finished and here we are now.

Wait… I forgot to mention where Xavier was didn’t I? 

Well he’s here sitting next to me as he flipped through channels deciding what to watch. I grabbed another cookie and sighed “Would you just pick something already? Why don’t you just pick a movie then if there’s nothing on?” I said to him annoyed with the constant click of the remote.

Xavier turned to me and stood up grinning evilly at me as he picked up a DVD case from the shelf. “Great idea Shay, why don’t we watch… Wrong Turn?” he asked as he waved the DVD at me. I gave him a horrified look “No way! That movie looks disgusting not to mention scary! Why don’t we just uh… talk or something? I mean catch up with each other, it’s been four years and um… we both probably changed a lot. Did you know I suddenly started to love mangos? I mean before I hated them but now I can’t stop eating them!” I exclaimed with a nervous laugh. I babble when I’m nervous and the most embarrassing things start coming form my mouth. 

Xavier laughed and put the DVD in the player before sitting next to me again. “Shay, girl’s talk I am not a girl. Besides it’s more fun being surprised at how we changed plus this movie is great! I watched it once with this girl named Marley… or Maya or something… but anyways she was all over me. This movie brings back fond memories” he told me as a dream like look came over his face.

I made a face and slapped his head “That’s even more disgusting! I didn’t need to know that you jerk!” I exclaimed. Xavier smirked “No need for violence Shay, I didn’t know you liked it rough” he said with a wink. I looked at him for a minute as I processed what he said. A deep blush graced my face after I realized what he meant. I crossed my arms and glared at him “pervert” I muttered under my breath.

Either he didn’t hear me or chose to ignore my comment because he grabbed the remote and pressed play. I grimaced as the beginning started to play; this was going to be a very long hour. I leaned back against the couch, pulled my legs up and hugged my knees to my chest getting prepared for what was coming. I felt Xavier drape his arm behind me but I was too lazy to shove it away, besides it wasn’t even touching me. 

Suddenly I felt his hot breath at my ear and his arm dropped to my shoulders “You can always cuddle up to me if you get scared Shaylee” he whispered making a shiver pass through me. I shrugged his shoulder off and moved my head so I could give him a glare “Not in a million years” I muttered. He shrugged as his face morphed into a devious look “We’ll see I bet that at the end of the movie you’ll be cuddling up with me” was all he said before focusing on the movie.

I gave him a look before I muttered a “Deal” and copying his actions. 

I didn’t see the triumph grin he shot me when I turned away. That was my first mistake.  

|30 Minutes Later| 

I grimaced as they find the body parts in the house,

Ugh who in the world comes up with these things? It’s disgusting, why we were watching it was a mystery to me. I had already screamed a few times, much to the pleasure of Xavier and numerous times I’ve been tempted to turn and cuddle into his shirt but I repressed the urge. I didn’t want his already large ego to get any larger. 

A sudden and random thought hit me. It felt like Xavier never left.  We were acting like we hadn’t spent four years apart from each other, and he has only pranked me once so far which was really weird considering I was usually set up for at least 5 a day. I found the new Xavier slightly unnerving; I didn’t know how to act with him.

His arm had already made its way to my shoulders again; I had long lost the battle of keeping it off. Every time I knocked it down he immediately moved it back up. Eventually I left it there getting tired of constantly shrugging my shoulders. 

“Ready to see something bloody princess? My offer is still up if you were wondering” a voice whispered in my ear making me jump slightly. I held my scream in and glared at Xavier. “Shut up it can’t be that bad” I murmured back as I turned back towards the T.V and let my eyes be glued to the screen.

I watched as the red headed girl got… oh god I don’t even want to repeat that. It was absolutely disgusting. I paled at what I saw on the screen but I resisted the urge to put my face in his shirt. He just got back it would be weird… on the other hand we have known each other for our whole lives… 

No Shaylee bad thoughts, he’s a player and your enemy.

I buried my face into a nearby pillow and groaned “What the heck kind of movie is this Xavier!? It’s disgusting!” I said my words sounding slightly muffled by the pillow. He just chuckled lowly but didn’t say anything back. Groaning I turned around and saw he was looking at me with an innocent smile. I knew that face, he was up to something I know it. I just didn’t know what… he couldn’t have done anything he was here with me the whole time. But then why was he wearing his post prank expression. 

I sighed and decided to leave it. I bet he was just doing that to make me wary, he would do that. So I ignored him and turned towards the movie. I instantly regretted that and thrust my face back into the pillow. “This is so disgusting!” I cried out.

|Xavier East| 

I watched Shaylee in amusement as she buried her face further into my couch. She was just as amusing as I remembered, even more now that we were older. I smirked as I remember her face as she saw the caterpillar in her potatoes then of course she pouted and left the table with a huff.

Classic. Shaylee. Reaction. 

I didn’t realize how much I had actually missed her. Coming back here was both a blessing and a curse. I could tell she still hated me for everything I did to her when we were younger. I bet you didn’t know this but before I started making fun of her Shay and I were best friends until… well let’s leave that story for another time shall we?

Anyways, I turned my attention back to my phone and smirked at the text from my brother Connor. 

Connor: Yeah me and Trevor are ready, are you sure you want to go through with this? I mean you already did the caterpillar thing to her.

Me: I wouldn’t have asked you and Trevor for help if I didn’t -.-

Connor: Whatever dude just text us when it’s time. We’re getting bored waiting! 

Me: Yeah whatever, later.

I put my phone down and turned back to Shaylee who had resumed watching the movie. The expressions that passed over her face were adorable. I had to admit that she took me by surprise today, I hadn’t recognized her this morning when she strutted to my door. I was fully prepared to see my frizzy haired, pudgy girl from a few years ago. 

But no, she had to go and get all hot. Not that I minded of course but it was a very shocking and looking at her now I was still pretty shocked. The frizzy hair was now gone and replaced with soft, sleek curls and her body lost all the fat and was now fit and toned. But her eyes, they were the same captivating brown eyes she had before.

I shook my head and returned to the movie. I wouldn’t think of that now, I still had to get her to trust me… 

I smirked it was almost time.

I am never, ever, EVER going camping again.

That’s all I have to say. 

It was now the ending of the movie and the sheriff is now checking out the remains of the house. Suddenly the cannibal guy popped out from behind him looking all grotesque and burned and swung an axe at him. You can probably guess what I did.

Yup I screamed. Not just any scream a blood curdling, gut wrenching scream. 

…Okay so maybe I was being a little dramatic but I did scream pretty loud.

Then at that exact moment the front door swung open and two figures that looked similar to the cannibals stood there. My face paled and I screamed even louder while jumping into Xavier’s lap and buried my face into his shirt. 

It was quiet for a moment before roaring laughter was heard and I looked up to see Trevor and Connor clutching their sides as they laughed on the ground. Next thing I know Xavier’s hot breath was near my ear and amusement laced with laughter in his voice as he said

“I win Princess”
