“Do it”
“No! I don’t want to! I’ll get in trouble!”
“You won’t if no one finds out!”
“It’s called security cameras stupid”
Xavier gave me an annoyed look, to which I just glared at. There was no way in hell I was going to do what he was suggesting. “It’s not even bad! You can’t even go to jail for something like this!” he exclaimed. I groaned and set my head down on the table we were sitting at. I was pleased to see that the food court tables were actually pretty clean so I didn’t have to worry about getting sick or some weird disease from the table. “You would know” I muttered quietly. Xavier sighed and ran a hand through his dark locks. “Come on Shaybear, don’t you trust me?” he asked, giving me a look. I groaned in response and averted my eyed from his face, trying to look anywhere but Xavier.
Dammit, he was going to play dirty wasn’t he?
“I don’t know, do I?” I mumbled as I stared longingly at some of the people eating, I was so hungry but Avery would be so peeved at me, I promised her I would pay for lunch since Zave and I were so late. I felt Xavier grasp his hand in mine and instantly my gaze snapped back to his. “Come on Shaybear, I even bought you your first day clothes” he reminded me, an evil glint in his eyes. I gave him a glare “You’re the one who wouldn’t let me buy my own clothes so you can’t use that against me!” I exclaimed. But I did feel somewhat guilty about it, then again he was the one who snatched the clothes out of my hands and ran to the register before I could even comprehend what was happening.
“Come on Shaybear, trust me. I promise you won’t get in trouble, it’s good to have a little fun once in a while” he said squeezing my hand and making tingled spread throughout my body from that one simple touch. I sighed “I’m going to regret saying yes aren’t I?” I muttered, slowly taking my head off of the table. Xavier sent me a wide grin “No you’re not, by the end of the day you are going to be thanking me” he stated cockily. I rolled my eyes but let a tiny grin form on my face, as long as I don’t get in trouble… this should be fine right? I mean maybe Xavier’s right, I need to let loose every once in a while. Xavier pulled me from the table, wrapping an arm around my waist as we began to walk. To anyone who was looking, it looked like Xavier was whispering sweet nothing’s in my ear but really he was telling me all about his ‘amazing’ plans for today.
I was only half listening to what he was saying, I was mostly trying to keep the blush down and make my heartbeat return to normal.
* * * * * *
“Oh my gosh! I can’t believe you actually did that!” I exclaimed between giggles. Xavier smirked at me “Don’t forget you did it too Shaybear” he teased, winking in my direction. I blushed “How could I forget? This is the first time I’ve done anything other than shop in the mall” I replied, grinning. Xavier grinned back “Well come on Shaybear let’s get going, we’re twenty minutes late. Avery’s going to have your head” he said, helping me up from the bench we were sitting on. Xavier and I had a very… interesting day. I had to admit even though I was skeptical at first, I had a lot of fun trying out the ideas Xavier had.
Liam raised an eyebrow at me “What exactly did you two do?” he asked giving us a suspicious look. I gave Liam a sly look “Nothing” I said innocently. Avery laughed “Come on Shay we both know you wouldn’t do anything that could get you in trouble. So fess up, what did you guys do? Did you drag Xavier to the bookstore and bore him to tears?” Avery teased. I pouted out my lip and crossed my arms, giving her a dirty look “Of course not!” I scoffed. Avery raised a brow questioningly while she took a sip of her pop.
“First we did the oldest trick in the book” I said, trying to sound like I knew what I was saying. Xavier smirked when Avery and Liam gave us a questioning look “Shay super glued a quarter to the floor” Xavier explained. Liam turned red and Avery started to laugh.
“That was you!?” Liam exclaimed, pointing an accusing finger at me.
I choked on laughter “You- fell- for- that!?” Xavier asked between laughs. Avery eventually joined in our laughter while Liam gave me a dirty look. “That’s not funny Shay!” Liam grumbled. We laughed harder as he began to pout and give us all dirty looks. Avery giggled and kissed Liam on the lips, eventually he laughed with us. “Okay, okay enough of that. So what else did you two do?” he asked. Avery gave Xavier a playful glare “What are you doing to my Shaylee! You’re turning her over to the dark side!” she cried out dramatically. I laughed along with Xavier “What can I say? She just can’t resist me” Xavier stated cockily. I rolled my eyes and shoved his arm playfully “Yeah, I’m sure that’s it” I replied sarcastically.
“Then we went into random stores and switched up some of the mannequin clothes!” I exclaimed.
“Do you remember the guy from Hollister’s face-” Xavier asked, laughing.
I grinned “Oh my god! His reaction was priceless!” I exclaimed, laughing with him.
“Then when you bought that water gun and started to shoot people secretly, oh my gosh that couple you shot! I thought I was going to die of laughter!” I said, in between giggles. The couple was sitting near the fountain practically eating each other’s faces off and Xavier took the water gun and began to squirt it at them. They thought the fountain was getting them wet but when they moved to a bench we had followed them.
To say they were annoyed would be an understatement.
“Wow Shay, never knew you had it in you” Liam teased. I rolled my eyes and stole a fry from him “Shut up” I mumbled half heartedly. I was in too much of a good mood to let anything get me down, I savoured the salty goodness of my fry. I frowned when Liam put a protective hand over his fries “No stealing” he whined childishly. I rolled my eyes and stuck my tongue out of him as I stole another fry and grinned cheekily. “Shaylee!” he exclaimed. “Tough luck Gregory!” I teased. “Avery, Shaylee is being mean to me” he whined like a five year old. Avery and I laughed at Liam’s childishness. Avery leaned over and gave Liam a kiss “Better?” she murmured. Liam smirked “Not yet” he muttered and pulled her in for another kiss but this time it was longer and I scrunched my face up in disgust, even if they were undeniably adorable together.
“Get a room!” Xavier joked, making me laugh. Avery and Liam finally broke apart and sent each other secretive smiles. “You know that’s actually a pretty good idea” Liam mused, as the two started to stand up. “What? No! You can’t leave!” I exclaimed. Avery sent me a pleading look “We still have our ritual tomorrow!” Avery said as she grasped Liam’s hand. “Besides school starts in two days remember? We’re seniors this year, I need to spend as much time with Liam as possible” Avery replied. I shook my head but grinned “Fine, fine, fine. Go ahead, but I’ll see you two tomorrow at Starbucks usual time okay?” I asked. Liam and Avery nodded “Thanks Shay! See you tomorrow!” They said before dashing out of the mall.
I sighed and shook my head at them. “Those two…” I muttered. Xavier gave me a smirk “Looks like it’s just you and me Shaybear. Come on, I want to show you what I bought” he said, standing up. I followed suit and let him lead me out of the mall. I had a grin on my face, Xavier had originally been holding a small bag but he wouldn’t let me see what was inside and the curiosity had been killing me. When we reached my car I handed him the keys and we got into the vehicle. “Can I see now?” I asked. Xavier shook his head as he started the car “Have patience, it’ll be worth it” was the only thing he said as he backed out from the mall. I pouted my lips and crossed my arms “Fine” I muttered which only caused him to chuckle at my obvious frustration.

After what feels like hours and hours of driving, which in reality would be about 20 minutes, Xavier and I finally reach our destination.
“The beach… you brought me to the beach…” I mused, as I took in the beautiful scene. It was close to six right now but the sun wouldn’t be going down until around nine but wow. I haven’t been to the beach in such a long time. The sandy shores, beautiful crystal water as it shined in the sun and of course the feeling of just lying there on the sand, relaxing as the sun hits your face…
Why hadn’t I visited this place more in the summer?
“Well are you coming or are you just going to sit there all night?” Xavier’s voice asked, making me snap out of my thoughts. I blushed faintly when I saw he had opened the door for me and was waiting for me to step out. Instead of saying something sarcastic back like I wanted to, I just muttered a quick thanks and hopped out of the car. Once my feet touched the ground Xavier grasped my hand in his and began pulling me towards the beach.
There were only a few people on this edge of the beach. Some couples, a few dog walkers and the occasional family. A couple brave soldiers were swimming but most people were just enjoying the time left we had with the sandy shore before it was covered with the beautiful white fluff that we call snow. As Xavier tugged me along I stared at he bag he was holding, it was just a pure white bag. What the hell kind of store only gives a pure white bag? Isn’t there always their label on it somewhere? Like what the hell, that would have been very helpful right now.
I knew that whatever he had bought had to be pretty small. The bag looked like half of a lindor chocolate bag. I sped up and tried to peer into the bag but before I could the bag had vanished from my view. I frowned and looked up at the smirking Xavier. “Ah, ah, ah remember what I said Shay?” he mocked, hiding the bag behind his back. I pouted “Come on Xavier! You know how curious I can get! You’re being mean” I replied childishly. Xavier laughed before moving in to kiss my forehead, making me blush and all comments stopping.
“Curiosity killed the cat” he said.
“But satisfaction brought it back” I countered.
Xavier shook his head at me, an amused grin playing at his delectable lips “Touché” he replied.
I looked around and noticed he had taken me to a more private part of the beach. He took the towel that I hadn’t noticed before and laid it on the ground for us to sit on. Which we did, I lay down and stared at the sky, feeling Xavier follow my lead. It was really pretty; it wasn’t starting to darken yet so the clouds were still nice and fluffy while the sky was a riveting shade of blue. Neither of us spoke, we just sat in a comfortable silence. To be honest I didn’t want to break it, this was really nice. No taunting, no teasing, no nothing. Just absolute serenity.
That is until a gorgeous leather bracelet was hanging over my head.
I gasped and sat up, giving Xavier a wide eyed look. In his hand he was holding a beautiful deep red leather bracelet with an equally gorgeous stainless steel rose clasp.
“Xavier…” I murmured, not being able to take my eyes of the piece of jewellery “Why…?” was all I managed to get out, it seemed like words had been lost to me.
“Don’t go looking at me like I’m some god, even though it’s true, I bought you this as an apology present.” He said. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at his comment. Of course he would say something like that during a moment like this. But then his words registered in my mind, an apology present? I voiced my thoughts and I saw his mouth turn into a grim smile.
“For everything” he murmured, bringing me in for a hug.
I didn’t deny him, instead I wrapped my arms around torso so I could embrace him back. “I don’t understand…” I muttered, pulling back a bit so I could see his face. Xavier sighed and shook his head, making his dark locks fall over one of his eyes. “I figured that” Xavier murmured lowly as I pushed the tendril of her back from his face so I could see his emerald eyes as they pierced into mine.
He really wasn’t making this kissing bet easy for me, was he?
“What’s that supposed to mean!” I said as I lightly smacked his rock hard chest. Xavier laughed as his fingers brushed over the rose. “Nothing never mind, just give me your wrist” he murmured. I nodded my head and complied, letting him clasp the bracelet with the other two I had on my right arm. “You still have this?” he asked, stroking one of the older looking bracelets. I blushed and jerked my arm away, hiding it behind my back. “Yeah…” I mumbled. “I promised I wouldn’t take it off” I said. Xavier smirked and brought his leather jacket back so his wrist was exposed. “Me too” he said as he showed me the matching leather band.
When we were kids Xavier and I got each other leather friendship bracelets. They were just a simple brown colour while the middle had small S and X beads beside each other. It wasn’t much but we had promised each other to never, ever take them off. Even when he started to be a jerk, I couldn’t find it in myself to take the band off. Every time I tried, it would be back on in less than five minutes. Eventually the bracelet became part of me and I always felt weird if I didn’t have it on.
“Hey kitten… if you put an ‘e’ in the middle of the ‘s’ and the ‘x’ it spells-”
I slapped my hand over his mouth. “Don’t you dare finish that sentence” I warned. “I know exactly what it spells” I said. Xavier grasped my wrist and gently tugged my hand off his smirking mouth. “It’s a sign Shay” he said, giving me a suggestive wink. I rolled my eyes and turned so I was looking out to the gently rolling waves. “Xavier just shut up” I said. Surprisingly he complied with my sentence and just watched the waves with me as we waited for the sunset. Eventually I found myself back in his arms but in all honesty, I didn’t mind it at all.
I am really starting to regret this bet.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep…
Gosh darn alarm clock. Why does school have to be so freaking early?
Yes you heard it right, today was the first day of school and to be quite honest I was in no means of being happy. I looked at the clock and saw that it was six, I groaned and threw the blankets off of me instantly feeling the cold air hit my body. Sluggishly I got out of my bed and went into the bathroom to get ready for school. I took a quick twenty minute shower before moisturizing my body and brushing my teeth. When I was done with that I wrapped a robe around my body and walked over to my closet.
I smiled when I saw my outfit.
Xavier and I had gone to American Eagle to get my outfit. It consisted of a striped embroidered miniskirt and a grey tank top. Simple but still cute, I paired the outfit with some heeled black ankle boots and then put on my bracelets and a necklace Trevor had given me on my sixteenth birthday. It was a locket with a picture of the two of us as kids on one side, while the other had a more recent photo. Who knew Trevor could give something so nice? I knew I was surprised! Anyways, I finished putting on my makeup and curling the last bits of my hair before grabbing my messenger bag and going down the stairs for breakfast. I noticed that my parents had already left but Trevor was still upstairs sleeping. What a lazy ass…
“Hey Shay” a voice said, making me jump out of my skin. I let out a little yelp and let my bag fall to the floor.
“Xavier!” I shouted, smacking his chest as he laughed at me. “It’s not funny!” I said, slapping his arm. How the hell did he get in here? I wondered. I mean I just got down the stairs so unless he was here earlier…
“Your parents just left and they let me in the house” he explained. I nodded my head and went to pick up an apple. “Ready for the first day?” he asked. I groaned and shook my head “Of course not! Who would be!” I cried as I grabbed my keys and wallet and stuffing them into my bag. Xavier just chuckled and followed me out the door. “BYE TREVOR!!!” I yelled before the door slammed behind me. “Mine or yours?” I asked. “Mine” he replied, unlocking his car as we walked towards his house. I got into the passenger seat while he walked over to the driver’s side.
“By the way Shaybear… I told you, you would look sexy in that skirt” he commented as he tossed me a wink before starting the car. I blushed and covered my exposed legs with my bag. “Shut up and drive” I ordered. “Ohh being demanding are we? I like it” he teased, moving my bag and placing a hand on my thigh, squeezing lightly. I blushed harder and fought to keep the grin off of my face. “Both hands on the wheel!” I exclaimed. Xavier laughed but didn’t move his hand “Don’t be such a worry wart; I’ve done this a million times. Besides it’s not like I’m going to crash. Besides I find this quite… relaxing” he informed me, squeezing my thigh for affect.
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest but this time I let the small smile slip out, unable to resist the grin that forced it’s way onto my lips.
* * * * * *
Once we walked into the school, it seemed like every eye was drawn towards Xavier. Either he didn’t care or didn’t notice because he just strutted down the hallway without glancing at anyone. “Come on Shay, take me to the office” he demanded. I just nodded my head and started to lead the way, trying to ignore the jealous stares some of the girls were shooting me. I mentally sighed, why couldn’t he have grown up a little bit less attractive?
As we walked a couple people that I was friends with waved or said hi, I shyly waved back and answered their greetings with my own. I felt Xavier sling his arm around my shoulder and saw he was giving me a grin. “Well you seem pretty popular” he commented as another person waved. I smiled back but shook my head “Not really, people are just being friendly” I said. Xavier shook his head as I waved to Allen Briggs, he was in my english class last year. “Hey Shaylee! I’ll catch you at the yearbook meeting on Friday right?” he asked once I passed. I grinned and nodded my head “Of course! You better save a camera for me!” I told him. Allen laughed and nodded his head before we vanished around the corner.
“You’re on the yearbook?” Xavier asked, sounding amused. I blushed and nodded my head “I like the cameras” I stated, shrugging my shoulders nonchalantly. I’m not kidding, I only joined because I liked the cameras and wanted to take pictures with them. I was a bit of a photography nerd, I loved using the cameras and then editing the photo’s I made.
Xavier laughed “Only you Shay” he murmured. I shot him a grin before gesturing towards the office. “Here we are, have fun” I said before beginning to walk away. But before I could get far Xavier began to tug me into the office “Nice try Love, but you can’t escape me that fast” he stated as we walked towards the secretary. I groaned but nodded “Fine” I muttered. She was an old lady in her early fifties, she was slightly on the short side with shoulder length brown hair and front bangs, but she still looked good. “Hi Ms. Anderson, it’s great to see you again” I greeted once we made it to her desk. Ms. Anderson smiled at me, “Oh Shaylee, how are you dear? Did you have a good summer?” she asked. I nodded my head “I’m fine, how are you? Oh yeah I had a wonderful summer, I’m sad to see it go!” I replied. Ms. Anderson laughed “Of course, now who’s this with you? I must say, nice catch dear” she said, sending me a wink.
I blushed “I was just showing around Xavier here, he’s new” I informed her. She smiled and began to type on her computer “Our second new student today, here you are dear I have your schedule and everything. Now Shaylee can I trust you to show our two new students around school?” she asked as she gave Xavier a folder full of his things. I smiled and nodded my head “Of course, but where’s the second student?” I asked. Ms. Anderson smiled, “Oh he’s just in the principals office going over a couple last minute things but he should be out in a moment” she said. “Go ahead and take a seat for now” she told us gesturing to the chairs. I gave her a smile and dragged Xavier over to the chairs before plucking his schedule from his hands.
I smiled “We have almost all our classes together, except you have auto, chemistry and physical education, while I have creative writing, photography and anthropology.” I informed him, passing his schedule back. Xavier smirked and went to say something but was cut off when the door to the principal’s office opened. “I hope everything is fine now?” Mr. Ashfield said to the student. When I saw who it was I felt my eyes widen and my jaw drop.
Jace Greenwood was standing in front of me.
I had totally forgotten he would be coming here as well. When Jace saw me he shot me a smile before his gaze flickered to Xavier and his eyes hardened. I turned towards Xavier and saw he was clenching his fists and glaring at Jace, there was an obvious tension between them. Did they already know each other? No, I don’t think so. I mean Xavier was still at the register when Jace came over to talk to me… so what then? I gave each of them a confused look but didn’t have much time to dwell on the thought since Mr. Ashfield turned me and gave me a wide smile. “Ah Miss. Love, just the person I wanted to see” he said, clapping his hands together.
“I see you’ve met our new student Xavier East already, and this here is Jace Greenwood” he introduced. I smiled and nodded my head, Jace smirked back and shook my hand. “It’s a pleasure to see you again” he greeted, kissing my hand. I couldn’t help but blush, we were in a room with our principal! That was so embarrassing. Mr. Ashfield chuckled “None of that in here! Now Miss. Love I’m counting on you to give our new students a warm welcome and show them around alright?” he said.
I kept my head down and nodded my head. “Of course sir” I mumbled out shyly. “Great! You boys better listen to her; Miss. Love here is one of our top students here. Have a great first day!” Mr. Ashfield exclaimed enthusiastically before sauntering back into his office. I sighed and pulled my strap higher on my shoulder. “Well come on boys, we’ve got to go and find your lockers” I said, leading them out of the office. Instantly Xavier walked on my right side while Jace walked on my left. Both were a little too close to comfort.
“Umm… okay so let me see your schedules again please.” I said. “Okay so you both are around the corner from me, come on then” I said. I was beginning to feel quite nervous, I took a peek at Xavier and saw he still had that stony expression on his face, and then I looked at Jace and saw he had a smug smirk etched there. What was he so smug about? I was actually really confused but something told me that I should keep my mouth shut and pretend nothing was going on.
We reached Xavier’s locker first and he dumped his bag inside before turning to face me. “Well let’s get going” he muttered lowly. I widened my eyes at his detached tone but nodded my head and began to go to Jace’s locker. Vaguely I began to wonder where my friends are but I knew Liam and Avery would probably be late, Of course knowing Ryder, Dominic and Sam, they would probably come around lunch time.
We reached Jace’s locker and he did the same thing as Xavier. Then they both turned to look at me and I shifted nervously, giving them each a cautious smile. “Alright well, let’s just go to my locker first and then I’ll show you where first period is and point you into the direction of your other classes.” I told them. Each of them gave me a nod and I slowly turned around before leading them to my locker, which was a couple of halls away from where theirs were, I heard the chatting of all the students and the clicking of my heels as we walked down the halls.
I felt slightly intimidated as I walked with these two masculine and very attractive boys. People were staring at us in confusion and I saw some of the girls and even guys give us hateful looks. I internally groaned and opened my locker. I grabbed my first two periods before slamming it shut, I wasn’t in the mood for questions. I could see that some of my friends were looking at me with intense eyes and I ignored them, knowing I would get mobbed in period one.
“Well Jace your first period is functions which is right down this hall” I said pointing left. “Xavier we have english which is on the other side of the school. Now you both have auto after which is on the first floor, you just need to go to the forum and then turn down the hallway on the right, near the cafe…” I said and began to explain where the rest of their classes were. Xavier smirked and placed a hand over my mouth “Princess we’re big boys I’m sure we can handle finding our classes” he teased. I felt my cheeks heat up and frowned “Well I’m still supposed to show you around…” I insisted quietly. The principal asked me to show them and I wasn’t going to risk getting in trouble because the two dimwits couldn’t find their classes.
Jace gave me a grin “Don’t worry about us Shaylee, we can certainly find our way. But if I need anything I can always ask you right?” he asked, giving me a smoldering look. I felt myself swoon slightly as he gazed at with his clear blue eyes. “Of course” I breathed. Jace’s gaze flickered towards Xavier and I saw him smirk. “Wonderful, well I’ll see you at lunch then.” And with that Jace began to saunter down the hallway with a little attitude to his step. He reached his math room and paused only to send me a wink before vanishing into the classroom.
I stared at the class for a moment before turning my attention towards Xavier. “Are you okay?” I asked softly. Xavier let out a deep breath and gave me a strained smile “I’m fine Shaylee” he muttered. I shook my head “The fact that you called me by my full name is clear that you definitely aren’t okay. What’s wrong Xavier? Is it something with Jace?” I asked, putting my hand on his arm for comfort. Xavier sighed and shook his head “It’s nothing Shaybear, don’t worry about it. I promise I’m fine. Just… stay away from him okay? He’s bad news” he warned.
I gave him a questioning look, “What do you mean by bad news?” I asked. Xavier let out a ragged breath and ran a hand through his hair. “I… I can’t explain right now. But please Shay, promise me?” he asked again. I took in a sharp breath, he was looking at me so intently. The emotion in his eyes really took my breath away and all I could do was nod my head. “Okay” I whispered. Xavier’s eyes filled with relief and I felt my heart melt a little bit at that. He really cared about me, but I was still determined to find out what was going on between those two. I mean it was practically a death stare war in the office and the smug little smiles Jace kept sending Xavier were slightly unnerving. I was burning to know what happened between the two.
I gave a small yelp when I was thrust from my thoughts as the bell rang.
“We’re going to be late!” I cried, grabbing Xavier’s hand and dragging him towards our english class while he laughed at my distress. I mentally sighed, this was going to be a long day…
* * * * * *
“Hey Love!” a voice called.
I turned around and a grin slipped on my face. “Ryder! Dominic! Sam!” I called, waving them over to my locker. The three boys gave me sly grins before strutting over to me; they were some of my best friends. Ryder Santiago was an attractive Australian transfer student, he came here in the tenth grade and… well to be quite honest I can’t really remember how we became friends. Sam Greene and Dominic Hastings were friends with Liam but once high school hit they started to hang around Avery and I more and I don’t know we all just… clicked.
Sam Greene was a tall brunette boy with a lean form and bright blue eyes. He was the more tame boy of the group while Ryder was our resident bad boy… well I wouldn’t say bad boy but… he wasn’t exactly Little Mr. Perfect. He skipped class, talked back to teachers and got into fights along with the third boy of the group Dominic Hastings. Now he was just a giant teddy bear, he was tall, muscular with dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes. He had the ‘mess with me and I’ll mess you up’ vibe. But really he was a big softie underneath all those muscles. They were like my older brothers and I, along with Avery, were their younger sister.
“Hey squirt!” Dominic said, ruffling my hair with one of his large hands. I slapped it away and gave him a glare “Don’t touch my hair!” I whined as I attempted to fix my now messy hair. They laughed at me “And I’m not that short!” I exclaimed. Ryder laughed “Uh yeah you are squirt, you barely make it to my chin” he stated moving so we were chest to… head. I pouted “It’s only because you guys are abnormally tall” I muttered, moving back towards my locker.
“So squirt… I hear you have the two new guys wrapped around your finger?” Sam asked slyly. I slammed my locker shut and shook my head. “I do not have them ‘wrapped around my finger’ You and Dominic both know Xavier and Jace is just a new guy that the principal asked me to show around.” I replied nonchalantly, beginning to make my way to the cafeteria.
The boys walked with me and laughed. “Come on Shay we all now that Xavier is wrapped around your tiny little finger, always have been” Dominic said. I rolled my eyes and shook my head “You know that’s not true you loser” I teased. Poking his hard stomach and wincing when it hurt my finger. Dominic laughed “Whatever you say Shaybear” he mocked, using Xavier’s nickname for me. I felt my cheeks heat up “Don’t call me that” I whined as we walked into the cafeteria. Dominic smirked “Right only East can call you that, my bad squirt” he said.
I rolled my eyes and searched the cafeteria for Avery. When I found her I saw she was already sitting with Liam and… Jace? What was he doing there? Oh right he said he would sit with me at lunch but how did he know I was friends with Liam and Avery… I tentatively waved when I saw Avery had noticed us. “Um… why is Jace there?” I whispered to Ryder. He shrugged “I don’t know, we know just as much as you” he said. I sighed and began walking to the table, where was Xavier? He said that he would meet me here…
“Hey Aves” I said giving her a hug before moving over to the other side opposite of Jace. Xavier told me to stay away from him and I trusted Xavier plus I couldn’t get the way he looked at me out of my head. It was just so… intense. “Liam, Jace” I said, greeting them as well. “Hey pretty girl” Jace said, making me blush slightly. Ryder and Dominic instantly came beside me and flung and arm around me. Ah my protective friends, I was wondering how long it would be until that side of them came out.
But before anything could happen I clapped my hands together. “Okay! So have any of you seen Zave? He said he would meet me here…” I mused, taking another look around. Liam sent me Cheshire smile “Already missing lover boy?” Liam asked. I blushed and shook my head “Of course not” I scoffed. “I just wanted to make sure that he didn’t get lost, I mean I was supposed to show him around” I muttered. My table, aside from Jace, laughed and I glared “It’s true!” I insisted. “Sure, sure” Sam said, patting me on the head “Whatever you say Shay” Avery winked. I frowned and fixed my hair “You guys suck” I muttered. Dominic laughed “How about I buy your lunch? Then are we forgiven?” he asked, talking to me like a five year old. I grinned “French fries?” I asked. He nodded “Of course” and stood up.
“Thanks Nic!” I called and he waved his hand back to show he heard me. I grinned at my friends and Jace “Free food!” I said happily. They shook their heads and laughed at me “You’re so immature” Avery said, flicking my nose. I laughed “Yeah I’m the immature one, remind me who was the one who got excited over-” but Avery cut me off. “We don’t need to relive that moment and besides I was high off of candy.” Avery scoffed. I rolled my eyes “Whatever you say Ave” I said, mocking her from early. She stuck her tongue out at me and I laughed “Now who’s the immature one!” I said pointing a finger at her.
“Still you”
“No you are!”
“Okay girls calm down, now why don’t we say you both are five and think I am the hottest damn thing on the planet” Ryder suggested. Avery and I gave him a look before slapping his arm and laughing. He grinned and held his hands up “Hey, no need to get violent” he exclaimed. “Then don’t lie to us!” Avery exclaimed. Ryder mock gasped “What are you talking about? We all know that I’m the sexiest thing in the room, I mean who can resist these bad boys” Ryder said, lifting up his shirt to show us his abs. I laughed and shook my head, he had nothing on Xavier.
I froze… did I just… I think I did… I just thought that Xavier was sexier than Ryder. Huh…
“Well as entertaining as this has been, I need to go.” Jace said beginning to stand up. “I’ll see you all later” he said before leaving the cafeteria. My eyes followed him as he left, once he reached the doors I began to avert my eyes but I let out a small gasp and my eyes widened in surprise.
Xavier was following after Jace.
What was going on?
