Battle of the chapters is one of the new initiatives of the Next Big Recognition Contest.  It's designed to build camaraderie by creating a competitive space where active #NBR members can send in one of their chapters to...duke it out!

Duke it out!? *puts on red boxing gloves* How do I get started?

Every Battle of the Chapter will have a theme. Members submit one of their published chapters that match that theme.  Who ever receives the most votes when the battle ends will be crowned the undefeated champion of that particular theme.

Holy Macaroni! So I can be titled as the 'Undefeated Champion of the Most Memorable Character Chapter' or the 'Undefeated Champion of the Best Dialogue chapter' or even the 'Undefeated Champion of the most Kick-Ass chapter'?

So excited! What are the specific timelines for submission?

The Battle of the Chapters run in rotation with the NBR Prompt Contests so when a Prompt Challenge is in progress, a battle is not in progress. When the prompt challenge ends, a battle will launch and so on and so forth. 

*Jumps up and down* And what do I get when I win?!

The correct question is 'what would you do with a million dollars?' Just kidding :) When you win, you get an expedited spotlight, a chapter dedication, and you'll be awarded a rarity that the @dawnstarling account seldom ever do.

I can't tell you. It's a surprise, sworn to be kept a secret by any and all winners.

What additional contest requirements are there?

More specific guidelines will be detailed when the first Battle launches, but here are the major ones: 

- One entry per Author

- No word limit because a short chapter is not indicative of a better read than a long chapter

- The majority of the submitted chapter must have aspects of the theme and if not, it obviously doesn't qualify  

- Only active #NBR members can take part in the challenge

Everything that NBR does has a purpose: to help expose your novel. By entering this challenge, you get the opportunity to expose your book to attract readers, get voted upon, and stored into libraries. And because the challenge is exclusive to NBR members, your chapter will battle with some of the best on Wattpad.   

First Battle set to go live this Friday, Feb 10th midnight CST :)
