The Truth

-Underground-

Everyone was gathered as Thomas was at the medic with his wound being inspected.

Felicia: You know, I treated your father's wounds when he's facing danger.

Thomas: And the first time that I faced off with one of his enemies.

At Thomas was fully recovered, Felicia gave her son his fixed goggles and face mask.

Felicia: I believe these belong to you.

Thomas: Hey, you fixed them.

Felicia: Actually, it was Zachary and that Torunn girl who fixed it up.

Thomas: Should have known. At this point I'm going to go broke with the many things I owe them for, especially Torunn.

Felicia: [teasing] When can I expect the first kiss~?

Thomas looked at his mom blushing and had a weak smile.

Thomas: Think a time like now wouldn't be the best. When we can stop worrying about the rogue AI then I will consider it

Felicia smiled looking at him and his shyness with Torunn reminded her of how Peter was. Shy, handsome, but thoughtful and compassionate.

Thomas: Mom... how come Tony didn't find you?

Felicia holds the photo of her and Peter, holding Thomas when he was a baby.

Felicia: [breathes in and out] We... Have to hide to keep yourself safe with Tony as he is a trusted friend to Peter.

[Flashback]

Peter and Felicia are together in the beautiful view of the horizon, they later look up to see the Quinjet arriving as it lands and opens as Tony comes out.

Tony walks to them as he holds his hand out, as he explains, Felicia is upset to hear that they have to give her son to Tony as she doesn't want to lose Thomas.

Peter puts his hand on her shoulder and reassures her that he'll be okay and will see them again, at which Felicia slowly gives Thomas to Tony as she sheds tears.

Peter hugs Thomas one last time as Tony walks to the jet with Thomas. Felicia walks to Tony and hugs her eight-month-old son then looks at him.

Tony nods to assure her that he will be okay. Eight months old Thomas looks into his mother's eyes.

Felicia: [crying] You stay strong, my little spider. Mama and Dada love you. [Kisses his forehead]

Thomas giggles as he hugs Felicia it was the last hug he'll ever feel from his mom as a baby again before Tony goes to the jet with him.

[End of flashback]

Felicia: And that's how it leads us to here.

Felicia shed tears in her eyes.

Felicia: It was the hardest decision we've ever made... But it must be done.

Thomas: Mom... it's OK.

Felicia hugs Thomas deeply as tears roll down, and Thomas slowly hugs her back.

Thomas: I love you, mom.

Felicia: And I love you too, my little spider.

Felicia and Thomas regroup with the others

Tony: I created Ultron to be a force for peace," Tony explained, "for law and order, but its programming evolved."

Tony and the rest are all sat around a small fire, each with a small ration of food.

Tony now wore a pair of black cargo pants tucked into brown combat boots, a brown long-sleeved shirt with some form of armor, and a heavy vest. His arms and chest were bandaged and his dark brown hair was tied in a low ponytail with a small scrap of cloth.

Tony: "It believed the only way to bring order to the world, was to control it," Tony told the children around him, "That's when it turned on us."

Hawkeye: "That's why Ultron didn't kill you?"

Hawkeye exclaimed, looking up from his lap where he was making new arrows.

Hawkeye: "Because you're his 'Daddy'?"

Tony: "My armor was damaged in the attack, Cap' told me to get the kids to safety.[to Hawkeye] I couldn't get to you in time, Francis."

The white-haired boy only glared at the older man.

Felicia: It wasn't his fault, Francis.

Pym: "Hawkeye's name is 'Francis'?"

Pym said, amusedly. But his humor didn't last long as let out an "Ow!" when the older boy bopped him over the head with one of his arrows.

Kamala: It was funny the first time his name was said out loud.

Francis: Save it, Kamala.

Kamala pouts as her cheeks puff up.

Kamala: You don't have to say my name out loud, Francis.

Azari: Your name's Kamala?

Quicksilver: Yeah we wanted to keep our civilian names a secret til this whole thing blows over.

Nova: And, she took the name "Ms. Marvel" after the previous one before her.

Kamala: Quiet, Sam!

Zachary: Your name is Sam?

James: And there's another before her?

Sam: Thanks a lot Kamala, and yes there was the adult Ms. Marvel before she took her mantle.

Quicksilver: Samuel Alexander. The not-so-fearless hero. He's afraid of bunnies.[laughs along with Thomas and Pym]

Sam: [irritated] Ha ha, real funny, Pietro.

Pietro: [gets stunned by his name said out loud] Hey, not cool!

Pietro, Sam, and Kamala: [arguing with each other]

Felicia: Ahem.

They stop as Felicia taps her foot to the ground.

Felicia: Let's not be aggressive towards ourselves.

Felicia had her arms crossed and gave the motherly scolding look

Pietro, Sam, and Kamala: Sorry, Mrs. Parker.

Thomas: [whispers to Zachary] Remind me to not make my mom angry.

Zachary: [whispered back] Deal.

Wanda: And my real name is Wanda, and I am Pietro's sister. Biologically of course.

Pym: Nice.

Felicia: Now that's out of the way, you may continue, Tony.

Tony: I thought Ultron had already gotten to you. Otherwise, you would have come with the others.

Francis ignored him and went back to working on his arrow. Tony looked down and then back to the five kids that he raised. James, Azari, Pym, Torunn, Zachary, and Thomas. He looked at the six of them and then sighed.

Tony: I raised the six of you hopefully as your parents would have wanted. I owed it to them. Ultron was my fault.

Torunn: Why didn't my father help?

Tony: Thor left the Avengers when his father Odin died. He said Asgard was his responsibility then not Earth.

Felicia: And I stayed behind to keep the people safe, and found these five and kept them safe ever since.

Torunn clenched her fists as she listened to Tony.

Tony: "A few months after we crashed, the Vision found us."

Tony said, watching as Pym took his arm off of where it was atop Vision's head.

Tony: "He survived by staying intangible; he became my eyes and ears in the real world. He kept track of Ultron's capabilities and movements, trying to defeat him. But I couldn't bear the thought of losing you. So I kept you hidden and I kept the truth from you. Until the Vision told me you were alive, I thought we were the only ones to survive Ultron's attack. I didn't know your father escaped."

"You weren't the only ones, Tony," a feminine voice spoke up.

Turning around, the elder man's amber eyes landed on a woman he readily recognized; it was the woman who had told the children that Tony was still alive.

Tony: "Betty?"

Betty: "The Hulk survived, too."

Pym: "What's a 'Hulk'?"

Francis: "The Hulk is a monster, that's what my dad said; he used to tell us stories. He said that the Hulk was the strongest one there was."

Azari: "What?"

Azari said, putting his can of fish down.

Azari: "Like a monster monster? With fangs and stuff?"

Tony: "Francis is right, The Hulk was a monster, a creature of pure rage."

James' face scrunched up in concentration before he walked up to his guardian.

James: "Is the Hulk strong enough to defeat Ultron?"

Betty: "He won't help you, James," Betty shook her head sadly, "He's too scared."

James' face turned away in disappointment.

Tony: "He's hidden from Ultron all these years, too. Where?"

Betty: "Where he always goes, the desert."

Tony turned to look at Hawkeye before stepping up to the younger boy.

Tony: "Can you help us get out of the city?"

Francis raked a hand through his light-hued locks.

Francis: "Yeah right. Help the guy who created Ultron? Who got my dad killed? What do you think my father would have done, Stark?"

Tony: "Clint?"

Tony raised an eyebrow as he spoke with a hint of amusement and nostalgia in his voice.

Tony: "He would've punched me in the face. Then, he would've helped me."

Francis: Wow, you really knew my dad well.

Felicia: There's more than you don't know, Francis.

[Later...]

Francis: "We've had it for a couple of years."

Francis stated as he and the others stood in front of a robot wasp that was powered down.

Francis: "But the minute you power it up, Ultron will know, he's-"

Tony: "Wired in, I know. But I know how to wire him out."

Torunn, James, and Azari load up the robot-wasp with whatever supplies they need.

"We'll buy you all the time we can," a Scavenger told Hawkeye, clasping his hand with his own.

The light-haired male only nodded in determination.

Several explosions sounded off within the mechanized capital as the robot-wasp flew out of Ultra City.

Betty: "You did a good job with them, Tony."

Betty said as she watched Azari, Kamala, Wanda, Zachary, and Pym sleeping as they leaned on one another, the former's tattoos glowing with each breath.

Tony: "I should've done better."

Tony said as tinkered here and there with the weapons the Scavenger had supplied them with.

Betty: No, you're being too hard on yourself.

Felicia: She's right. I know that every day you spent with those kids. You tried your best to raise them. I know that your friends, and my husband, would be so proud of you.

Felicia put her hand on his shoulder to calm him down as he sighed looking back at the robot parts. Francis was in the back looking out the window not used to the real world.

Torunn, Thomas, Pietro, and Sam looked out of the window as she thought about the day's events, never noticing James walk past them to Francis.

James: Everything okay?

Francis: Yeah, it's just I've never been outside the city. I'm just not used to it. It's really big out here.

James: That's how we felt when we went to the city. Why'd you come back for us at the citadel? After everything you said?

Thomas: Something changes your mind?[joins in the conversation] Besides my mom gave you the look?

Francis: "The Scavengers look up to me,"

Francis said simply as though that one statement answered everything.

Francis: "They rely on me and it's only a matter of time until Ultron wipes out every single one of them. So if you guys have even the slightest shot at taking down Ultron, I've gotta try. Otherwise, what's the point?"

He grinned slyly and nudged James.

Francis: "Besides, anything to impress a girl, right?"

James: "Girl?"

James asked before realization dawned on him.

James: "W-Wait, you mean Torunn? Dude, she's like my sister!"

Francis: "So she's available?"

Thomas: [eyebrow twitches] And there's anything you find her fascinating?

Francis: Well, she's quite pretty and strong, and pretty sure she blushes easily from me.

Thomas: [eyebrow twitches] Really?

Francis: And it seems you're jealous that I'm with her.

Thomas: [denial] I'm not jealous.

Francis: Then why's your eyebrow twitching?

Thomas: It's nothing.

Francis: Did I miss something here? What's your problem?

Thomas: You're my problem!

Francis: No.

Francis gets up and walks towards Thomas.

Francis: That'd be too easy, Parker. Let me tell you what's wrong around here. My being around Torunn forces you to ask yourself a question.

Thomas clenches his fists as Francis continues.

Francis: A tough question that you can't answer. Here's a piece of friendly advice. Go and talk to Torunn. From the heart. Better yet, make the first move. Or else, one day, I will. And then, I really will be your problem.

Thomas clenches his fist as he slowly thinks about what he said.

Somewhere in the middle of the desert...

Potted plants and small contraptions filled the large cave, located within a large canyon.

Bruce Banner looked into a pair of magnified eye goggles as he cut off a tiny branch that marred the perfect picture his Bonsai tree made.

Bruce had grey hair growing around the large bald portion of his head and falling just over his shoulders, pale skin littered with wrinkles, and hazel eyes that held numerous emotions swirling around within them.

He wore a loose white long-sleeved shirt, a pair of dark blue track pants, an orange vest, and a pair of brown loafers.

Bruce: "Om."

He chanted as he did a version of the sun salutation.

Tony: Bruce.

The man's eyes snapped open as he saw a very familiar person standing at the entrance to his haven with eleven children.

Pym: [exclaimed] "Oh, come on!" Pym. That's the Hulk? The big, scary monster? I could beat him up!"

Bruce: "No, no, no, no!"

Bruce rasped, shaking his head rapidly.

Bruce: "Get out! Get out of here! Please, for your sake, you gotta get away from me!"

Francis: "Nut's anyone?"

Francis said with a bland look on his face, looking at Tony.

Tony: "Bruce, It's me. It's-"

Bruce: "Get outta here, Stark!"

Bruce shouted, panting at the same time.

Betty: "Bruce."

Recognizing the voice, the grey-haired man watched as the small group parted for the love of his life.

Betty: "It's all right, Bruce."

The elderly woman soothed, stepping forward.

Betty: "Breathe."

Bruce: "Betty?"

Bruce asked in disbelief, calming down as the woman stepped closer and closer to him.

Pym: "Well, he's sorta scary, I guess."

A0zari: "Shut up, Pym."

Thomas: Or else you'll make it worse.

Betty: "Shh," Betty whispered, "it's okay. Breathe."

She grasped the older man's hands within hers.

Betty: "Let it go. We don't want you to get angry."

Bruce released a breath he hadn't known he held in. They all sat around a small fire.

James: "What happens when he gets angry?"

Bruce: "You can't be here, It's too dangerous. The Hulk is too dangerous."

Tony: "It's okay, Bruce. We just had to get out of the city."

Tony said, trying to placate the man who was now undoubtedly older than him.

James: "Can the Hulk defeat Ultron?

Tony: "James!"

Bruce: "The Hulk doesn't care about Ultron, boy." Banner snapped. "The Hulk just wants to be left alone! You're all in danger. I have to stay here; I have to keep the Hulk inside. When the Hulk comes out, bad things happen."

Bruce looked at Betty apologetically.

Bruce: "The Hulk won't help you. And neither will I."

Felicia: There's time in need that he would be useful to help.
