I Dont Want to Forget Part 2
AHHHHHH LOOK HOW CUTE HE IS IN THIS PICTURE AIDNEJAHR WNAYTBNSHR
"I know you've been following me!" You hissed at the man.
He looked startled, frightened even, as you held him against the wall by his coat.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about," he stammered. "Can you let go of me?"
"Cut the crap, stalker." Your voice wavered. You'd moved to New York from New Jersey two months ago. Just a few weeks after you'd moved in this guy had been following you around. You hadn't noticed it at first, as it was little things in the beginning: a glimpse of sandy hair on the corner of the street, a smile in your favorite bookshop, and maybe a wave at the zoo you liked to go to. You didn't think much of it until it became less subtle. Soon you'd glimpse the bobbing of his head and his coat fluttering a ways behind you on the street, and you'd see him walk the same path with you all the way to work and then watch him enter the building right next to you. It made you nervous, but you didn't have any proof of his actually following you until you took a dissimilar route home and he was still behind you.
"You follow me to and from work every day, and I know it! I took a different route this time and here you are!" You snarled. "Stop following me, or I'll call the cops!"
The man went white as a sheet. "Forgive me, ma'm. I didn't mean to frighten you. I-I think we just work an-and live near eachother."
"Bullshit," you muttered, pressing the man against the wall further. "Give me one good reason why I should believe you."
The man laughed nervously. "I don't really know what I can give you as evidence-"
"You better think of some before I punch your lights out!" You barked. You usually weren't that harsh to people you had never met, but when you were scared you put up walls. You didn't let anyone see how terrified you were. Besides, even if you didn't know how to throw a punch in the slightest, you hoped that threatening him of a blow to the face would act as a deterrent.
"Right, don't want that to happen." he murmured. He seemed to have a mental debate in his head before he held out a hand. "I'm Newt."
You snorted. "And I'm not an idiot. I don't want your name. I want to know why you're stalking me!"
Newt put up his hands defensively. "I-I'm not stalking you, I swear! I... I just followed you today. Never before. You just... You just look like someone I used to know." You peered angrily into his dewy blue eyes. They concealed a storm, his eyes did. You could see the sadness and guilt brewing in his irises.
You let go of his coat. "Whoever it is, I'm not them," you declared. "Don't follow me again." You set off briskly down the alleyway, cheeks burning and your hands stuffed in your pocket.
"Wait!" Newt cried, tripping over his own feet in an attempt to catch up to you. "Don't leave just yet!"
You huffed and stopped walking. "I don't want anything to do with you, Newt." The man's face fell, but still he persisted, taking long strides to reach your spot on the cobblestone.
"Let me make it up to you!" He blurted, coming to a standstill on your left. "Besides, we've met before. I-I'm sure if you talk to me you'll remember."
You froze. "I doubt I've met you before. You don't even know my name."
"(Y/N)," he replied smoothly. "And that's not from stalking you."
Your cheeks burned. You felt a little embarrassed; you'd accused a man of stalking you, and even though he hadn't given you real proof of his innocence you believed him. You felt like you owed him a meal. "Fine!" You sputtered, brushing a piece of hair away from your face. "I think I have time for a coffee."
He smiled at you and held out his arm. You cocked an eyebrow. "Coffee it is."
You linked your arm with Newt's and walked in uncomfortable silence down the length of the alley.
"Forgive me, but remind me again where we met?" You inquired sheepishly.
Newt seemed to debate something in his head. His eyelids flickered and his lips opened and closed, as if he didn't want to tell you.
"The corner of 5th and 26th," he replied softly.
You knew that street. You remembered that street. You remembered him... but you didn't.
And then suddenly you did.
You stopped walking. Your arm fell away from Newt and the air got caught in your lungs. Your head spun and your vision tinged black as the edges. You started to shake as all the memories came back to you: The time you and Newt first met, your first kiss, his case, his creatures, everything about him. You remembered being obliviated, too.
"Newt?" You whispered, the first tear falling from your eye as dripping from your chin.
"(Y/N)?" He asked, concerned. You couldn't remember him, it was impossible... he had obliviated you! "Are you alright?"
"I..." you squeezed your eyes shut and put an arm on Newt's shoulder to steady yourself. Shivers went crawling up your arm. You remembered that feeling, the electrifying tingles you got when you touched.
You laughed and wiped the tears off your cheek. "I'm perfect. I'm absolutely perfect."
"Do you... do you remember now?" He questioned tentatively.
You looked at him with bright eyes and a smile on your face. "Yeah," you sniffled. "I do."
