One-shot
A/n: so I wrote this one-shot because I thought of it while doing homework(which I am still procrastinating on) and was thinking if I should turn this into a story. Should I and would you read it? If you would want this to be a book please vote or comment and I will start on it. Thanks for the support and I hope you like it.
To say I was nervous was an understatement. I am so getting Alex back for this. I sighed and tied my black and white hair into a high ponytail. I hooked up my snare drum by the stage door and grabbed my trumpet and put it down. Not only was this a stupid move but it was dangerous. Luckily someone was ready to hand it to me when I needed to change it.
Tonight, my friends and I went to see Newsies in New York . We made a bet and I lost. They somehow knew I was gonna loose and brought my snare and trumpet. I sighed. I'm not even that good but I never turn a dare down.
My friends were scattered down the stage door ready to sing along and hum to the instrument parts. I was prepared to feel embarrassed. I am never going to out live this. I handed my Playbill to Alex to get her to get it signed for me.
Once I saw at least seven of the cast members out the door I heard a loud whistle. That was my cue. I took a shaky breath and began playing the curtain call, extra loud. What made it worse was that they brought my light up sticks.
The boys looked up from singing the Playbill and began singing along. People were video taping it. The boys started dancing along and more of them came out. I kept going since I had to play the whole song.
Everyone was clapping. This is exactly what I didn't want. Why can't I have just one normal day. Someone handed me the trumpet and I used one hand to trumpet and the other to snare. I missed a good amount of the snare parts but it helped me stay on tempo.
I smiled watching the boys dancing. At least it wasn't as uncomfortable as I thought it would be. I sighed I had to play until the end of the song.
When I got to the part where Jack Kelly walks out on stage low and behold he walks out of the stage door and starts laughing. He bows and everyone starts clapping laughing and whistling.
As soon as I was done I ran and put my stuff into Alex's car and took my hair down. I walked back to the stage door to see people still there. I snatched my Playbill from Alex with a scowl.
Someone walks up to us. "Hi, I'm Dan. You were the one doing the curtain call weren't you?" I rubbed the nape of my neck nervously. "Uhh.... yeah. My name is Katherine."
He smiled and other casts members walked up and told me I did good. Then a boy with brown hair and hazel eyes tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to him. Josh was his name... I think. "What you did was super cool, but why'd you do it, if you don't mind me asking."
"You see my friends and I made a bet. It was to see who would be placed where in our seats and I was one off so they brought some of my equipment and decided to dare me to play the curtain call." I said. My face flushed it was so embarrassing. This is how I'm going to be remembered by famous actors. The crazy snare player. I can see it now.
He laughed. "That's interesting. Anyway, so you wanna take a picture together?" I smiled shyly. "Uh, sure." Alex took a picture of us. "Make sure you tag me." He said then left. I don't even have instagram. I got to meet more boys and all of them took pictures with me.
Most of them told me to tag them so I told Alex she could post them.
Time skip
The next day Alex posted all of them and tagged the boys because she followed them already. We were in drama when she smiled evily. Oh no... she's up to no good.
"I have a bet." "Alright what is it?" I asked hesitantly. "If at least two of those boys contact my instagram asking for you then you have to try out to be the Newsies replacement trumpet player."
"They already have one." "They do except he has to leave for family reasons. So... deal?" She asked. "Sure. I'm positive I'll win, it's not like they'd want to talk to trash like me." Then she hit my head. "Owww, what was that for?"
"I told you to stop calling yourself trash. You're a great person." I sighed. "Whatever floats your boat." David walked up to us. He plays trombone in jazz band. He's super tall and has blonde hair along with green eyes.
"Hey, guys. What's up?" He ruffled my hair. I looked up at him. "Nothing much." I replied. "Tell her that she's not trash." Alex said still annoyed.
"Kat, how many times do we have to tell you you aren't trash for you to believe it." "When it's true." That response received another smack in the head from Alex.
We were about to continue the conversation when her phone buzzed. Before she could read it the bell rang.
I could only wonder.... who would text her while we were in school. I sighed and began walking to my next class with Daniel and saying bye to Alex while she began logging in into her phone to read her text.
