We had been so careful ! Katherine thought as the timer ticked .

Her heart was racing and her mind was in a million places . What if ?

It was a scary ordeal , this , at her age ?

The timer began to ring and she sprinted across her bedroom to her bathroom .

Two little pink lines ... She's pregnant...
"Crap" she said holding up the lines , how was she gonna tell Jack ?

How was she gonna tell her father ?
"I told you to stay away from him didn't I ?" She could hear in her father's voice .

Should she tell them together or apart ? Kill two birds with one stone right ? Katherine nervous put her hand on her stomach .

She wanted to keep it ... Right ?

Katherine called Jack over , told him she needs to tell him something . Her father just happened to be downstairs in his office when Jack knocked on the door .

"Kelly" Pulitzer said glaring .

"Good evening Mr. Pulitzer !" Jack said tipping his hat .

"What are you doing here ? Pulitzer asked .

"Daddy , I called him over here to talk -"

"Finally dumping the boy ?" Pulitzer asked .

"I'm right here !" Jack said .

"can you both come with me to the parlor ?" Katherine asked . They followed her to the parlor and sat on opposite sides of one another .

"Jack , Daddy... I need to tell you both something , and please let me finish before you say anything " Katherine said .

They both nodded and she took a great big deep breath "I'm pregnant " Katherine said .

Pulitzer's eyes widened and Jack began to cough . "What ?" Jack asked .

"I'm pregnant... I took four tests ... All positive ... " Katherine said .

"Well , you'll have to get rid of it !" Pulitzer said .

"I'm not getting rid of a baby !" Katherine yelled .

"I meant Jack ! You can keep the baby and I'll take care of the two of you " Pulitzer said .

"I'm not getting rid of Jack either " Katherine said .

"Then what ? You're gonna keep the baby ?" Jack asked .

"No , I'm gonna carry it full term , then give the baby up for adoption" Katherine said .

"Absolutely not !" Pulitzer said .

"I agree !" Jack said too.

"I will not have some secret grandchild become a scandal in a couple years " Pulitzer screamed .

"It's my life , I'm gonna do what I want okay ?! It's what's best for Jack and I ! I wanna be with him , but I'm not about to marry him ! We've been dating for 1 year ! I'm not ready to marry him ! and you know what , I wanna have a baby but I want to give this baby to someone who wants one but can't have one ! You of all people should understand that dad !" Katherine shouted .

Pulitzer took a deep sigh "Katherine-"

"You're mother couldn't has a baby so she adopted you , she desperately wanted one ... Mom couldn't have kids so you adopted me ... I can have kids ... I'm gonna give someone the greatest gift one can give ... I don't care that in a few years it will haunt me ! I'm not ready to be a mom but there's someone out there who is ... And I want to help them " Katherine said .

"Katherine, this is my baby too " Jack said .

"I know that but can you really support me and a baby can you ?" Katherine asked

"You're right " Jack said .

"I'm not saying we won't ever see the baby again ... I've been researching and well ... There's this thing ... Call an open adoption... We can get pictures and updates and visitations with the baby ..." Katherine said .

"It does sound like a good idea " Jack said standing up and he hugged her .

"Katherine, all the time your mother and I have been married we've wanted to hold a baby the second it's born -"

"Daddy, when I'm older you will ... But this isn't my baby ... It's just my womb ... It's someone's else's ... Let me do what your birth mother did for grandma and what I'm birth mother did for you" Katherine said and rubbed her father's shoulder .

"We'll have to tell your mother " Pulitzer said .

"She'll understand " Katherine said .

Jack then grabbed her hand and pulled her away "I'm sorry for the way I acted ... I guess I was scared ... I'll be there for you ... I'm way too young to be a daddy , but I'm not too young to be a birth father to someone's child ... But only if you promise me that one day well get married and a have baby that's ours " Jack said .

"I promise " Katherine said .

"For sure ?" He asked .

"For sure" Katherine said and kissed him .

"We don't need twins !" Pulitzer yelled .
