"Maria !" Jack said to his wife of 17 years Maria . "Yes ?" "How come you hid this from me ? " "I thought if she wrote you you'd leave me -" "how could you ? I have a son I never knew about ?" So the day after the divorce was final Jack took his things and hoped on a train to New York . Jack walked around and he saw old newsies square . "Buy a pape Mr ?" The kid asked . "Yeah here " he said handing him a dollar , "keep the change " "wow thanks !" The kid said skipping along . Jack looked around . There was Jacobs deli and there was meddas theater . He walked into medda's . "That the last one " "thank you much dear " Medda said . He looked at the older woman now probably 60, she had gray streaked hair but still had on glamour and glitz . "Medda ?" "That's the name how can I ? Jack ?" She said looking at him . "Yeah it's me -" "what the hell are you doing here ?" "I came to visit some one " "well if it's Ace she hates you !" "Medda please ! Where does she live ?" "I'm not saying " "I gotta know where Kathy live !" "Katherine plumber ?" The boy who had been helping Medda asked . He was wearing jeans and a nice shirt that he had his sleeves rolled up.  Jack looked at the boy . He raven black hair and a sharp jaw and big blue eyes . "Mom ?" The boy asked opening the door . "Here " she said typing at her type writer . "Mom this guys -" "Jack ?" She said her skirts now running across the carpet . "Hey ya Ace ?" "How the hell could you leave me here and then go ? How could you ? I wrote you saying I never wanted to see you ! Get the hell away from me ! And my son !" "Mom please calm down " "Zach stay out of this !" "Katherine don't you mean our son ?" "Our son ? Mom ?" "I wrote you ! You where never there for him so why should you be allowed to call him your son ? Your nothing but a big jerk !" "Katherine stop ," "mom what do you mean our son ?" "Zach this is the deadbeat father who left his pregnant 17 year old girlfriend for some stupid town out west !" "I left cause I could never give you anything you deserved !" "I wrote you ! I said I never wanted those things !" "Katherine I didn't get your letters till I was moving and I found them hidden away my ex- wife kept them form me !" "What ?" "I never stopped loving you and if I could I would change time please give me a chance . " he said holding up her chin like had down 17 years ago . He then leaned in and kissed her . They had explained everything and Zach had started to have a good conversation with his father .
