had a dark past that haunts her each day. It kills her on the inside, but yet she acts like she's fine until she's all alone. That's when she falls apart. Screaming "Why me?" Choking on her own sobs and pounding the brick wall feeling anger, frustation, and sadness all together.

He was a happy fellow. Always laughing with his friends and enjoying his life. He put smiles on everyone's faces. He was just a simple newsie with little to no money, but he made the best out of everything. He brought out the best in everyone. But yet, he felt like something was missing.

She sat in an alley all alone. Her sadness came in waves each day, and tonight she was drowning. She cried until she couldn't anymore. She would stop, but then remember, crying all over again. This happened almost every night, but never this bad.

She looked around the alley she was using for comfort. She found a piece of glass, and dragged it across her delicate skin. She watched as the blood ran down her arm. The dark red liquid dripped to the ground as she dragged the glass across her skin again and again.

He was walking back to the lodging house after a long day of terrible headlines when he passed her alley. He heard her cries as he walked closer and closer wanting to know who those cries belonged to. He walked closer and closer to the poor girl. He stopped and took in the sight of her blood covered arm and scared wrists. His eyes grew wide as he ran over to her taking the glass from her hand. He threw the glass to the side as he ripped off a piece of his shirt and wrapped her wrists. Having her arms bandaged, he looked up and noticed how beautiful she was.

"What are you doing?" she asked wondering why this stranger helped her. He took her face in his hands and wiped away her tears with his thumb.

"'cause ya need someone more dan anythin' right now," he replied pulling her towards him. He wrapped his arms around her giving her a shoulder to cry on. Her cries died down and he took that as his cue to talk.

"What's ya name?" he questioned sweetly.

"Abbie," she answers pulling away from his embrace.

"I'm Bumlets," he introduced himself giving her a small, soft smile. The held eye contact, and holding her right then and there, he felt something that he has never felt before. She felt it too as he put a strand of her hair that was covering her face behind her ear. Feeling as if in a trance, he connected his lips to hers and she kissed back feeling the electricity surge through her. She leaned her head to the side while wrapping her arms around his neck. He held onto her petite waist pulling her closer. They pulled away and she smiled. Her first genuine smile in a long time. He smiled back knowing he has found what he was missing.
