51 - Kid Blink
You sat up in your bed trying to calm down. Your forehead is covered in sweat and your hands are shaky as you make your way to the window. You open it to let the cool, night air in. You take deep breaths calming myself down with each exhale. You sit back down on your bed and lean your head against the wall not wanting to go to sleep. You bring your knees up to your chest trying to forget your nightmare. Wanting to forget everything. But you can't.
You had a dream about Blink again. In the dream, you were dying as he just stood there watching you. You felt like you were suffocating and for some unknown reason, he was there just watching you. You were losing him. You have been having that dream a lot lately. You don't understand any of it. You broke up with Blink a month ago after being together for a year. There were so many bumps in the road and you couldn't take it, so you ended it, so you two wouldn't get hurt anymore. You missed him more than you ever thought you would, but you know you two broke up for the best. You can't help but think of him and dream about him.
The sun finally rose as you got up from bed and made your way towards your kitchen for breakfast. Your aunt was already making food.
"Good morning," she says as you start making your own food.
"Good morning," you reply. "Um... Aunt (Y/A/N), what does it mean when you have dreams about death?" you ask wondering what your dream meant.
"Well, dreaming about death could either mean you are guilty about something, the end of something , the change of something, or fear," she says after a moment of thinking.
"What if you had a dream about someone watching you die?" you ask further.
"Okay, what's this about?" she asks. She stops cooking and turns to you giving you her full attention. You knew you could trust her.
"Blink and I broke up about a month ago, but lately I have been having dreams about him watching me die. He has this sad expression on his face as he looks down at me and I feel like I'm suffocating. I don't know what it means," you explain.
"Why did you break up?" she asks.
"We were having a lot of problems and I didn't want us getting even more hurt trying to make it work," you go on.
"How long have you been having this dream?"
"About a couple weeks now," you answer.
"Then I think your dream means the end of your relationship," she answers your orginal question. "It could, also mean you are afraid of losing him-"
"That wouldn't make sense since I already lost him," the sentence made you even more upset.
"Do you miss him?" you nod. "Maybe it means you are afraid because you lost him. Like he made you feel safe and secure and now that's gone," she goes on trying to figure out what it means.
"Maybe."
....
You navigated your way through the streets of Manhattan. You were going grocery shopping for your aunt as she was at work. You finish your hopping and make it back to your apartment. You put the groceries away and, knowing you had some free time, went outside for a little walk. You don't like being cooped up in the apartment alone especially in a nice day like today. The sun was shining and everyone seemed generally happy. It made you cheer up a bit from this morning.
"Hey, (Y/N)," you hear a familiar voice call. You turn around to see the one and only Jack Kelly.
"Hey Jack," you return. "How've you been?" you ask striking up a conversation.
"Good. And you?"
"I've been okay," you reply. "How has been Blink been?" you ask the question you desperately wanted to know, but wasn't sure if you wanted to ask. You haven't talked to him since the break up.
"Why don't ya see for yaself?" he says before turning around about to walk to the lodging house.
"Jack, I don't think that's a good idea," you grab his wrist.
"Why not?" he asks.
"We didn't really end on good terms," you confess looking at the ground.
"Ya need ta see 'im sometime. Ya can't shut 'im out," jack tells you placing a hand on your shoulder as you take a deep breath. You nod as if saying an 'okay'. You follow Jack as he leads you to the lodging house. You stop once you reach the door. "Are ya okay?" Jack asks noticing how you stopped.
"Yes, let's go," you say wanting to get this overwith. You could already see it playing in your head. He awkwardly says 'hello' as you do the same followed by awkward 'how are you's and 'good's. Jack opens the door and you two shuffle in. "Guys, we have a visitor," Jack gains there attention as all of them look at you.
"Hello," you give a small smile and wave. Nobody says anything making you feel out of place. "Nice seeing you all," you quickly say before turning on your heel and walking out followed by Jack. "That was a disaster. I shouldn't have listened to you. I left for a month and then all of a sudden showed up. I should've known," you pace back and forth. You looked like an idiot standing in front of them all as they looked at you like you had three heads. You sit down and lean your head against a brick wall.
"I'm sorry 'bout dat-"
"(Y/N), wait," you hear an all to familiar voice call making you stand up. Blink comes out of the door and sees you. He walks closer to you as out of the corner of your eye you see Jack shuffle into the lodging house. "How are ya?" he asks after a minute of silence.
"I've been okay. How have yo been?" you ask back.
He takes a deep breath before answering me, "I'm not okay. I haven't been okay since ya left. Can't we try dis again," he asks quietly. You could see the sadness and need in his voice. His eye is full of sadness and hope. Little hope that you might take him back. "We belong tagedda. Can't ya see dat?"
"We have so much history-"
"I know, and I'm sorry 'bout dat, but we can't say good-bye. I can't lose ya- I'm not gonna lose ya. Not this time. Not again," he tells you walking closer to you. He cups your face in his hands before leaning his forehead against yours. "I need ya," he whispers connecting his lips to yours. You feel the familiar amazing feeling that you've been missing all this time. You both pull away. "I love ya," he whispers.
"I love you, too."
