I take a deep breath and stepped out of the carriage. I'm back in Manhattan. I'm home. I left Manhattan a couple years ago to go to California. Now I just want to continue what I left off. Jack and I have been best friends for as long as I can remember, but secretly I've been liking him as more than a best friend. I don't even know if he remembers me. I don't know if he has changed. What if he doesn't remember me? What if he has changed? All these thoughts and questions ran through my head as I walked towards where he usually sells his papers. I turn the corner and hear him yelling outragous headlines making everyone flock towards him. I walked towards him as the last customer leaves with his last paper.

"Jack," I yell gaining his attention. He smiles upon seeing me. He opens his arms as I run into him giving him a hug.

"Hello, beautiful," he says making me smile even wider. We pull away and start walking.

"So, how was California?" he asked.

"Not half as good as Manhattan," I confess. No place is like Manhattan. "It was okay. But Manhattan is my home. I had to come back," I say.

"I'm glad ya did," he confesses as he looks over at me. "Savannah, dere's somethin' I need ta tell ya," he says. We make it to the lodging house, but I follow him all the way up to the roof. My legs became wobbly and my hands were shaking. My heart beated faster than normal as I tried to control my breathing. I am nervous about what he wants to say and I'm desperately hoping it's what I need him to say.

"Savannah," he starts. He pauses for a moment as if wondering how he should phrase what he wants to say. "We've been friends foa as long as I can rememba," he continues. "Before ya left, I needed ta tell ya this, but I neva got da chance, so I'm tellin' ya dis befoa it's too late," he stops. "Savannah, I love ya," he finishes. I'm speechless. His eyes stared into mine waiting impatiently for a response.

"Jack," I start with a wide smile spread across my face. "I love you, too," I finish as he immediately smiles. He leans forward and his lips touch mine sending electrisity through me. I wrap my arms around his neck as his hands hold onto my waist. I lean my head to the side to deepen the kiss loving the feeling of his lips on my own. We pull away to catch our breaths.

"Will ya be my goil?"

"I thought you'd never ask."
