3rd Person

Kayleigh walks through the halls proudly the next morning, a small smile forming on her face as she sees people reading the school's newspaper that just came out that morning. Just as she makes it to her locker, Davey walks up to her.

"Everyone is reading the article," Davey informs her, although she could already tell how popular it was.

"Good," she replies exchanging the books she had in her bag with the ones in her locker.

"Do you think Principle Pulitzer will get mad?" Davey asks looking at the newspaper he had in his hands.

"Not really. If he cared what people thought about the subject, he wouldn't have done it," she explains before closing her locker.

"I guess you're right. C'mon, we've got to get to Journalism," Davey tells her before they start to make their way towards the club meeting.

Once they get there. Everyone was seated silently while Ms. Larkson, one of the advisers of the club, stood up front as if she was scolding them.

"What's going on?" Kayleigh asks standing in the doorway.

"Mr. Pulitzer read the article and he didn't like it," Anna tells her while Kayleigh takes a seat next to Anna and in front of Abby.

"So?" Kayleigh questions not getting the seriousness of the problem.

"He's threatening to close Journalism unless we write another article saying that all wasn't true," Ms. Larkson explains. Kayleigh bites her lip in worry as she plays with a ring on her right hand ring finger, a nervous habit she had.

Kayleigh begins thinking over the whole situation. "We can't just write that everything wasn't true," Davey voices his opinion that Kayleigh agreed with.

"So, what are we going to do?" Abby asks Kayleigh. Kayleigh looks around the room seeing every eye on her waiting for her to tell them what to do.

....

"I hate gym class," Abby whines to Kayleigh and Anna as they walk out of the locker room with shorts, t-shirts, and sneakers on.

"And we're playing Dodgeball," Kayleigh tells them both.

"Well, good luck to you two. I've been excused," Anna flaunts her note saying she couldn't participate in gym class.

"Really? You hurt your leg? What did you hurt?" Kayleigh questions not believing in her injury.

"I don't know, but it's enough to get out of gym class," Anna answers before walking over to the gym teacher, showing him the note. Anna turns back around, giving them a thumbs up, and walking over to the bleachers where Crutchy was seated since he, also, hurt his leg. But his wasn't fake.

"Ok, everyone gather around," the teacher blows his whistle, gaining the attention of everyone in the rather large class. "We are playing Dodgeball if you didn't know. If you're hit with the ball, you will go to the jail. The team with that gets the whole other team in their jail, wins. On the red team," the teacher begins listing off names calling Abby to the Red Team before finishing. Abby turns to Kayleigh, giving her a small pouting face since they weren't on the same team.

"On the blue team," the teacher lists the rest of the names in their class including Kayleigh, Jack, and Skittery. Everyone walked over to their own side before the teacher blew the whistle again, starting the game.

Abby walks over to the jail, deciding that job included the least running. She stood awkwardly near the empty space watching as all the competitive boys cheated at the simple game and thankfully being able to avoid their throws. Just as the game was getting less and less interesting to her, someone was hit, being sent right to jail. She looked up from her feet seeing Skittery stepping into the jail.

Kayleigh folded her arms, not giving the game the slightest bit of attention. She looks over to Abby seeing her and Skittery talking. She couldn't deny the fact that they looked perfect together, even though his friend was the most aggravating person on the planet. She watched as the two flirted with each other knowing she would ask Abby about them two later.

"Hey, Kay," she heard someone calling her name. She looked towards the voice seeing none other than Jack Kelly with his signature smirk on.

"Hey," she greeted simply, turning away from him.

"Don't act too excited to see me," he commented earning an eye roll from her while she kept her gaze on the game. Just as Jack wasn't looking, a ball hit him right in the face making him stagger backwards, but he was still able to catch it. Kayleigh brought her hands up to cover her mouth, trying not to laugh.

"Are you okay?" Kayleigh asks kind of concerned and kind of wanting to laugh.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I think the handsome was just knocked out of me," he jokes making her chuckle a bit.

"If you had any to begin with," she jokes back with a small grin forming on her face.

"Ouch," he replies acting as if her comment hurt him while Kayleigh's smile grew.

Before Jack could say anything else, Kayleigh's eyes popped out of her head while she looked down at her hands. "My ring!" she exclaimed, looking down at the ground.

"What?" Jack questioned wondering why she was so worried.

"I lost my ring and I- I have to find it!" she knelt down to the ground and began searching as far as she could see.

"It's just a ring-"

"No, it's not! My mother gave me that ring. It's the last thing I have of her," she explains the importance of her ring. Jack knelt down beside her on the ground forgetting about the stupid dodge ball game.

"Hey," he gained her attention with a soft voice and his hand on her shoulder. She looked up at his brown eyes while he stared into her irresistible blue ones. "We'll find it," he assured her with a small, comforting smile. They both began to search as much as they could before the bell rang signaling the end of gym class.

Disclaimer: the line "I think the handsomeness was just knocked out of me" is from OUAT (or the line is something like that)
