I wrapped one of my arms around his waist as one of his wrapped around my shoulder. My feet hit the water as I kicked my legs. The sun was going down and it began to get darker. We stood up from sitting on the pier and started walking towards the newsboys lodging house. We were almost there when it began to rain. The rain fell heavily on the ground as thunder roared. We ran the rest of the way and went in. We were soaking by the time we got upstairs. My clothes clung to my body and my brown hair was dripping. I followed Spot to one of the rooms. He handed me a towel to dry myself off.

"Why don't ya stay hea tanight. I don't want ya having ta go home in dis," Spot told me. I walked over to the bed and sat down. I could still hear the rain hit the roof and the thunder from inside. He sat down next to me and we both layed down. I rested my head on his chest as his arm wrapped around me. In this moment, the sound of the rain and thunder seems to be turned down. The sounds of the city that never sleeps seems to disappear. I could only hear the sound of his steady heartbeat and his breathing. We were away from everything- almost disconnected from the life around us. This somewhat getaway is my favorite place to be. My little sweet escape was him and laying here with him only deepened my love. We put the world away and just laid here with eachother. No one spoke and no one had to. The silence was comfortable.

With life going on around us each day, I'm glad to have a safe haven to just forget about my worries and regrets and just enjoy life before it's gone. And these moments I never want to forget. There is no place I'd rather be and I wouldn't trade this moment for anything. Do you know that moment where you don't want to fall alseep because reality is better than your dreams?  That's how I feel now. Being here with Spot is better than any dream or fantasy. He makes me feel loved and wanted and that's all I ask for in life. I know he loves me and he knows I love him. That's all I need and all I could ever want. It's amazing what love can do. How this four letter word can brighten someone's day or life even. How this little word can cure sadness. How these three words can change everything and turn someone's life upside down. It's the best feeling ever.

I matched my breathing with his as his arm tightened around me. The walls acted like a barrier shielding us from the outside world. I like the rain. I like the sounds it makes as it hits the roof or the pavement outside. I like the thunder and lightening. I like how the thunder roars throught the sky and how lightening lights up the dark of the night. I'm the happiest in these moments. And nothing can change that.
