3rd Person

"You should meet her. She's beautiful," Davey goes on and on about Beatrice Montgomery to one of his best friends, Emma, as they walk.

Emma has known Beatrice Montgomery some time since they went to school together. Beatrice has always been the snooty type. A real hoity-toity.

"Wow. You must really like this girl," Emma says trying to hide the sadness. She looks away from the flawless boy wanting to be left alone.

"I think I'm in love with her," he finishes looking back at Emma. She looks up at him, feeling his gaze. She fakes him a small smile hoping he doesn't notice how upset she actually was.

She was more than positive that he couldn't tell. She was completely head over heels for Davey and he has yet to notice. He has been oblivious to the way she looks at him or the way she wanted to spend every waking moment with him. But he only saw her as a friend, and watching him fall in love with a different girl hurt.

"Are you going to bring her to the party?" she asks hoping the answer is a 'no'. Medda was hosting a newsie party for a couple of the burrows.

"I don't know. I would like to, but I don't know if she would want to," he answers.

Emma didn't even need to ask why. She already knew. Newsies were just a bunch of street rats to Beatrice. They were too low for her liking. Davey was the only exception. He used to go to school, so he wasn't as low as the others.

"Well, I should get going," Emma tells her best friend. "I'll see you at the party tonight," she smiles.

"See ya there," he responds before they parted ways.

....

She walks into the crowded theater before making her way to Jack's table knowing that's where Davey will be when he comes hopefully alone.

Minutes pass and no Davey. She sighs and plays with her hands before looking up at the door. She stares at the double doors waiting for him to saunter in with his usual bright smile and bright blue eyes.

She imagines him walking in alone and takes a seat at the table. And just as a slow song comes on, he would ask the brunette to dance. Keeping his blue orbs on her blue ones, he would confess his love for her and she would do the same-

Emma was knocked out of her day dream by the door which she was staring at opened. The handsome boy who she has been waiting for strides in. Followed by Beatrice. She sighs at the couple as they make their way to her table. She could see right through Beatrice's fake smile knowing Davey had to beg her to come.

"Guys, this is Beatrice. Beatrice, this is Jack, Race, and Emma," he introduces them. They both Take a seat with Davey next to Emma and Beatrice in between Davey and Race. The group begins to talk about anything as Emma sneaks a glance at the couple every now and then. Most of the time, Beatrice acted as if she didn't want to be here. And she probably didn't. She's probably thinking of a million places she would rather be.

"I'm going to go get a drink," she tells Davey already having enough of the table's conversation. She pouts over to the drink table while Emma kept an eye on her knowing she'll start trouble. Just as Beatrice grabbed her drink, she ran into a young newsie causing him to spill his drink all over her.

Beatrice gasps gaining everyone's attention. The room fell silent as she stares at the newsie with rage in her eyes.

"I'se so sorry. Ya ran intah me," he explains seeing her anger.

"You stupid street rat! You ruined my new dress from France! You are going to pay-"

"Hey," Emma speaks up hating how she was speaking to the young boy. "Don't you dare speak to him like that! You ran into him. He did nothing wrong. So, if you are going to act like that, take your unneeded remarks and overpriced french dress and go elsewhere," she finished making Beatrice's blood boil.

Beatrice walked over to Davey before speaking, "I knew I shouldn't have come here. Don't ever speak to me again." And with that, she left.

"Thank you," the little newsie thanks Emma giving her a small hug. Just as he did, a slow song came on. "May I'se have dis dance?" he looks up at her.

"Sure," she laughs beginning to dance with the small boy.

After a couple moments, someone spoke from behind her, "Can I take it from here?" The little boy nodded as Davey gently grabs her waist.

"I'm sorry about Beatrice," she apologizes knowing she was one of the reasons she left.

"Don't apologize. I was stupid for bringing her. I just- I thought I loved her, and then when she acted up like that, I realized it's not her. That was a great thing you did. Standing up for him," Davey commented.

"It was nothing," she looks away from the blue-eyed boy. She looks back up at him finding him staring back at her. He looks down at her lips and then back up at her eyes.

He begins to lean in as she meets his halfway for a small kiss on the lips. They both pulled away, but kept their close distance.

"Davey, I-," she stops affraid of his reply if she did tell him since he just broke up with Beatrice.

"What is it? You can tell me," he urges her.

"I love you," she tells him keeping her eyes on his.

"I love you, too," he smiles which she returns. " When I realized it's not her, I realized it's you."
