"Hands off me sistah," Bumlets gently pushed away a newsie flirting with Laura. "I'll soak any newsie tryin' ta put da moves on 'er," Bumlets declares out loud so that all could hear while she looked away from him, her gaze landing on a different newsie.

This newsie, however, had only one eye to gaze make at her. His sandy blond hair came down just above his eyebrows with his newsie cap on top. He wore a white shirt with thin stripes and tan pants. He was fairly attractive.

She quickly looks away as realization hit her. Her brother would soak any boy who flirted with her resulting in her having no chance with any boy.

She looks back at him to see him making his way to her. She felt her heart beating in her chest as he makes it to where she was sitting and took a seat next to her.

"I'm Kid Blink. I'se thought I'd intrahduce myself so you'd know someone. And plus, I couldn't turn down da chance ta talk to a pretty goil," he flirted holding out his hands to shake.

"Laura," she shakes his hand with a small blush on her cheeks and a small smile on her face. They soon began talking about the most random thing, both of them just enjoying each other's company. And as they talked, she could feel herself falling for this charming newsie.

*2 Weeks Later*

"Hey, Laura," Blink gains her attention after they both bought their papers. They became rather close in the past two weeks since meeting. Both of them falling for the other secretly as well. And now, he was finally ready to tell her.

"Hey," she greets back.

"Can I sell wit you taday?" he asks scratching the back of his neck in a nervous way.

"Of course," she smiles as they leave the distribution center. They both begin selling as many papers they had as quickly as they could. When they were both almost done, she spoke up again. "A penny foah ya thoughts?" she notices his strange behavior.

"Laura, I-" he begins trying to muster as much courage he could. "I really like ya," he finishes quickly catching her off guard. After she's quiet for a moment, he took it negatively, "I know ya don't like me-"

"No, it's not that. I'm just surprised, but I really like you, too," she smiles stepping closer to him causing him to return the radiant smile. "But what about my brother?" she wonders beginning to worry for them.

"I'll take da risk," he smirks before kissing her gently on the lips as if she could break. She kisses back before they both pull away, the simple yet passionate kiss putting smiles on their faces.

*One Week Later*

"Has anyone seen Laura?" Bumlets asks looking around the lodging house and not finding her, and being the protective brother he was, he needed to know where she was at all times.

"Last time I saw 'er, she was out wit Blink," Mush gives him an answer as the other boys just shook their head. Immediately, Bumlets thought the worst. Sure, he was best friends with Kid Blink, like he was the other newsies, but he couldn't stop himself from thinking of the possibilities.

By pure coincidence, Kid Blink and Laura sauntered into the lodging house with smiles on their faces, both sharing a laugh together before turning to see Bumlets staring at them in shock.

"We'se need ta talk. Now," Bumlets grabbed her wrist softly, pulling her up the stairs. "What's goin' on between you'se two?" he interrogates once they were upstairs.

"Bumlets, I love you and I thank you for always looking out for me, but I'm not a kid anymore and Kid Blink is a really great guy," she begins.

"I'se just don't want ya ta get hurt," he tells her, his voice becoming softer.

"But I'm not gonna learn if I don't make the wrong choices. Maybe it does end badly with Blink or maybe it will turn into something worth all the risks, but I can't find out if I don't try," she tries to pursued him.

"Maybe I am a little too prahtective-"

"A little?" she cuts him off giving him a look.

"Okay, maybe a bit, but I just don't want ta lose ya eithah."

"I'll always be ya little sistah," she gives him a small smile.

"Okay, if ya really like 'im, ya can date 'im," he gives her approval of the relationship.

"Thank you," she smiles pulling him into a bone-crushing hug.

"But I'll warn him, if he evah hoits ya-"

"Yeah, yeah. I know," she walks away ready to tell Blink the good news. They make it downstairs before Laura finds a seat next to Blink while Bumlets sits across the room with the other newsies.

"So? How'd it go?" Blink asks eagerly.

"I guess ya stuck wit me," she smiles making him smile before giving him a quick peck on the lips continuing their one-of-a-kind relationship.
