Davey tossed and turned in bed not being able to sleep. Knowing he'll never be able to go to sleep, he climbed out the window and sat on the stairs of the fire escape.

The thought of was you with your new boyfriend, Tom Clark, distracted him from everything else. All Davey could think of was Tom's lips on yours.

You and Davey had a serious relationship which last a year, but once he became a newsie, everyone shut you out. Nobody approved of you dating a newsie. As word got around, it became harder and harder for you to keep your relationship, so you broke up with him. Even a month after your break up, Davey hasn't gotten over you, but you tried to move on and forget about him.

"Davey, you have to forget about me." Your words replayed over and over in his head, but he wouldn't listen to them, he couldn't.

He kept thinking until the sun came up, then he got ready and left with Les. They make it to the distribution center and quickly buy their papers before they roam the streets, hawking headlines.

He yelled out exaggerated headlines as people came and went before you came into view. He stopped yelling as you navigated your way through the crowd. He couldn't help, but admire you. You are beautiful and he was so in love with you.

And in that very moment, he didn't think at all. He took his 7 seconds of complete courage as he made his way towards you in a fast pace. He needed you back and right now, no one, not even Tom, could get in his way.

You turned the corner and he followed you as you both broke away from the crowd.

"(Y/N)," he called once he was only a few feet behind you. You turned around and put on your best fake smile.

"Hey, Davey. I really am in hur-"

"I need to talk to you," he cut you off knowing you weren't in a hurry, you just didn't want to speak to him.

"Now isn't really a good ti-"

"Please," he pleaded ignoring your excuses.

You thought for a moment before answering, "What do you need to talk to me about?"

"You know it's not my fault my dad got hurt, and I know you want nothing to do with me, but I just need to say that we are meant to be. I can't forget about you. I love you, (Y/N), can't you see that?" he says.

"I know, but I can't," you don't give him a full explanation.

"Why not?" he presses.

"Because I don't want to hear whispers behind my back or have everyone in my life turn on me," you explain raising your voice a little.

"I don't care what people say when we're together," Davey tells you keeping his gaze locked on your eyes. "And you shouldn't either. You shouldn't second guess what makes you happy because some poeple don't agree with you," he finishes waiting for an answer from you.

You thought about what he said as his face stayed only inches away from yours. And he was right. You knew he was waiting for a reaction from you, so, looking down at his lips and then back up to his bright blue eyes before crashing your lips into his feeling the same passion like you always feel whenever his lips were against yours. You felt your whole body become ignited by his kiss. His hands snaked around your waist as your hands held onto his neck pulling him closer. You leaned your head to the side to deepen before you both pulled away to catch your breaths, but you stayed inches away from him.

"You make me happy," you smile making him smile.

"I love you," he whispers pulling you in for a hug.

"I love you, too."
