Dad Knowing

Dad sit in silence as Aunt Beth explain everything I said yesterday. His face is blank of emotions but I can basically sense his dragon snarling the entire time. We are in the living room where I sit in the corner where dad's possible rage might not reach me.

"So what you were saying is that Asmodeus's allies called themselves Venus's children, the last Dark Pegasus is hiding with two Nomad Elves from HQ Agents, my daughter and her friend was possessed by an ancient evil spirit and this spirit knows about Linda's identity?" dad summarises calmly.

I cringe at how calm he's taking all this in. Uncle Seb and Aunt Beth were already upset with me for not telling them earlier. I can't imagine how bad dad's going to take this.

"It took you months to tell us all of this? When you were so close to being erased from existence?" dad scolds me angrily. "Did you not realise that you're putting us all in danger? Your Aunt Beth and Uncle Seb could be hunted if word goes around about their identities!"

Tears start to form unwillingly. Dad rarely sets his rage on me and is usually reasonable when it comes to my antics.

This, however, is beyond reason.

"Dad..." I start but he cuts me off.

"No, Linda!" he yells, standing in front of me. "I did not take 15 years to keep all of you safe and then everything goes down the drain! We all made sacrifices for you and you don't trust us enough to tell the truth?!"

"I think we should all take a breather, Augustus," Aunt Beth cautions.

Dad is not having any of it. "You could have died, Bubbles. I don't know what I would do if the HQ Agents take you away like they did with Valerie or if a destructive spirit completely takes over your body. Heck, none of us would have any idea about anything because we wouldn't suspect anything!"

Dad grabs onto my shoulder. "Do you understand what I'm trying to say? I know that there are times that I won't be around or you'd think I don't care, but I do. I love you, Bubbles, no matter what."

I cry in relief as we hug it out. It feels so good to tell them what's been stressing me out lately. It feels like I can conquer the world if I want to and I know that my family will be there to support me. They know that I'm different, but they love me regardless.

Sure, they were surprised when I revealed that I can communicate with these creatures with their minds. Sure, they were surprised to know that I can be used as a weapon to conquer both land and sea. Yet they still see me as the confused 15-year-old girl who's going through puberty.

"So what's the plan now? Can we kick some butts now?" Uncle Seb asks with childish giddiness. It surprises me to see that Aunt Beth also looks like she's excited for a fight. I guess these two are sick of staying at home and being normal.

Dad sighs as he thinks it over. "From what I think is happening, Angra is searching for the HQ Headquarters and thinks that Emily is her best chance. The only question is why is Angra willing to set a whole town on fire just to look for HQ? HQ must have done something to piss off this spirit..."

"What exactly is she?" Uncle Seb asks. "She sounded pretty offended when Linda had no idea what she is."

Dad shrugs. "No idea. There are a million creatures out there and she's just one of the old forgotten ones. What's important is that we figure out what she wants, hopefully persuade her to stop possessing innocent girls and send her on her merry way."

"Or destroy her otherwise," Aunt Beth says emotionlessly. "She sounded like she would take over Linda's body once she's got what she needs from HQ..."

I shudder when I remember how it was like to have her in my body. The ill intention she brings makes me sick.

"What's the plan, boss?" Uncle Seb asks, looking expectedly at dad. Heck, all of us are looking up to him for instructions.

Dad points at me. "I'm going to take you out of school." He points at Aunt Beth. "You do some research on Angra and Venus and all that mojo." Finally he points at an excited Uncle Seb. "And you stay out of trouble. I'm going to call Emily up and check on her."

He's getting me out of school? Like for good? "Dad, you can't do that! I - I enjoy schooling and..." I stutter, trying to convince him otherwise.

Dad raises an eyebrow at me. "We'll talk about this later. You're taking a few days off school for now then."

"Why don't we just go to HQ and see whether that ghost is there?" Uncle Seb whines, wanting to do something useful.

Dad rolls his eyes at his childishness while dialing Emily's contact number. "I don't know where the new HQ is, now go be productive." He left Uncle Seb and I alone in the living room since Aunt Beth disappeared to dig deep into her research.

Uncle Seb groans outloud. "I'm bored. Let's go somewhere."

"Where do you want to go?" I ask in amusement, relaxing on the sofa. "I'm lazy though."

Uncle Seb doesn't take any excuse as he carries me over his shoulder with me shrieking in surprise. He starts to head towards the beach. "Uncle Seb! Let me down!" I shriek while laughing. His sharp shoulder digs into my stomach painfully.

He let me down with a huff. "You're getting heavier, Linz."

I stick my tongue out. "You're just getting older, Uncle Seb. Race you to the water!"

Uncle Seb lets me win the small race. I transform into my Siren self and spend some time playing in the water with Uncle Seb. Dad joins us in the water once he made the call with Emily, telling us that Emily's safe and informed about the possible threat. Dad let Isaac accompany me to explore other deep parts of the ocean. Aunt Beth comes to the beach to relax an hour later.

We enjoy the time we have left before the storm comes.
