Maddie, Loki, and Belle are in a car that they stole from Carver. Maddie talks to Loki.

Maddie: These people we're going to see... How do you know about them? 

Loki: Overheard androids Carver captured. They said they were humans helping androids to cross the border... 

Maddie: What if it was a lie?.. Or just another trap? 

Loki: All I know is those androids believed it. Until Carver killed them.

The car ends up breaking down. 

Car: Malfunction detected. Emergency brakes activated. 

Loki: This doesn't look good. 

Maddie: Stay inside, Belle.

Maddie: What are we going to do? 

Loki: I don't know...Continue on foot, I guess... 

Maddie: It's 30°, Belle won't make it!.. We have to find somewhere to spend the night. 

Loki: There's nowhere we can stay around here, Maddie... 

Maddie: Over there...

Maddie, Loki, and Belle all go to Pirate's Cove a deserted amusement park.

Maddie: We need to find shelter. We have to get out of the cold. 

Loki: Looks like it's been abandoned for a while...

Maddie ends up finding a tavern. 

Loki: I'll handle this. There we go.

Maddie, Loki, and Belle all get inside of the tavern. 

Maddie: I don't think we'll find anything better... Let's settle in for the night. 

Loki: I'll get a fire going. l'll make the fire here, that way we won't be smoked out...

Maddie checks the bag. She offers Belle a cookie. 

Maddie: There are some cookies left. Would you like some? 

Belle: No... I'm not hungry...

Maddie makes Belle a bed. 

Maddie: Belle?

Maddie talks to Belle. 

Belle: Do you think we'll be like them some day?.

Maddie is optimistic to Belle.

Maddie: Once we cross the border, we can start over... You can go to school... Maybe I'll find a job. We'll be like them. Like everyone else.

Belle: As long as we're together, that's all that matters. 

Maddie: Come on, let's get you to bed. 

Maddie goes to tuck Belle in. She gives her a kiss on the forehead.

Maddie: Sleep tight, Belle. Sweet dreams.

Belle: Can you tell me a story, Maddie? 

Maddie: I have nine thousand children stories in memory. I should have one for you.

Maddie decides to tell Belle a story of a princess.

Maddie: This is a story about a princess who-.

Belle: No, not a story like that. Make one up for me. 

Maddie: This is a story about a little girl.....Who lived alone in a big old house. She dreamed of being like all the other little girls but......the shadow that lived within her kept her from being happy...Then, she met a robot... ...who was programmed to obey orders but felt for once that she should disobey. So they decided to run away together......to escape the shadow that haunted that house. They encountered great dangers along the way, but.....But they wanted so badly to be free that they overcame all of them. Along the way, they met......another robot who left his master to become their guardian.

Belle: How does the story end?

Maddie gives the story a realistic ending.

Maddie: It's up to us to write the end of the story, Belle.

Belle: Stories always have happy endings... But real life isn't like that... 

Maddie: Time to sleep. We have another long day ahead of us tomorrow. 

Belle: Are you going to come say goodnight, Loki? 

Loki: Yes... Yes of course. Good night, Belle. Sleep tight.

After Belle falls asleep. Maddie talks to Loki.

Loki: She's a sweet girl... 

Maddie: Yes, she's very brave..

Maddie asks about Loki's past.

Maddie: Do you remember anything from your life, before Carver? 

Loki: No... My model was designed to carry heavy loads. I might have been a longshoreman or a evil villain... Who I was doesn't matter anymore. It wasn't really me...Maddie... have you ever... Noticed anything? About Belle?..

Maddie says she hasn't. 

Maddie: No, what are you talking about?

Androids start breaking into the tavern. 

Belle: MADDIE!

Maddie asks the androids what they are doing there.

Maddie: Who are you? What do you want? Leave us alone!

Foxy: Don't be afraid! We don't wanna hurt you. We're just like you... Our name is Foxy. We were working here before the park closed... We didn't mean to frighten you, but sometimes humans come to hurt us, so we wanted to see who was there... What are you doing here? 

Maddie: We were looking for shelter for the night... We'll be gone tomorrow. 

Foxy: A little girl!.. We haven't seen one for a long time... Children used to love to come and see us. She looks sad... 

Maddie: The last few days have been difficult... 

Foxy: We have something to show her! Something fun! She'll love it!.. Does she want to see?

Maddie: Oh, I don't think she's... 

Foxy: She should follow us then! 

Maddie: Belle, I don't know if it's a good idea!.. 

Loki: I don't think you have any choice... 

Belle: Come on, Maddie! 

Foxy: Be our guest! The little one can climb on board. The carousel is about to begin! 

Maddie: It's the first time I've seen her smile... 

Loki: She hasn't had much to smile about lately.
