Chapter Thirteen~The Calm Before The Storm

Percy's POV

I decided I wanted blue food. I know, it's a strange request, but we're going to war any day now and I wanna die happy.

Our "guests" were supposed to be arriving today, so that's one thing to look forward to. I sat down at the Poseidon table with Tyson and willed for the magic plates to give me blue pancakes. I immediately felt a little bit better.

I caught Annabeth's eye at the Athena table and gave her my famous lopsided smile. She grinned back at me and blew me kisses. I closed my eyes and pretended to catch them and hold them close to me.

The Aphrodite kids were watching us like we were cute little puppies. I made a gagging gesture I'm their direction and Lacy just waved me off laughing.

Jason dropped in next to me(from out of the sky) and Leo sat down across from me. Tyson was obliviously ignoring everyone at the table until Frank sat down. Tyson then proceeded to giving Frank one of his classic hit-by-a-truck hugs and yelled "Brother!" over and over again.

Frank iguana-d his way out of the Cyclops handcuffs and moved to sit by Leo instead. Tyson only seemed sad for a couple seconds before he bounded off to the beach to see Rainbow.

Annabeth slid in next to me and Piper next to Jason. Soon Hazel hopped onto the spot Tyson had just left and we started talking. My table had become the official "Seven" table. I didn't mind, though. I like the company.

Soon the Avengers filled up the other half. Nico and Will, Thalia, and Reyna joined as well. With all the new people, I barely had any elbow room, but like I said, I don't mind.

To fit everyone at the camp, we had many Roman style tables and couches spread out around the pavilion and we pulled over the Zeus table to the Poseidon table so everyone would fit.

"So who did you call Perce?" Jason asked. Everyone at our table stopped eating and looked at me expectantly.

I looked over to Half-Blood Hill as if gauging the moment they would appear. I watched the Golden Fleece glitter in the branches of Thalia's tree and the way Peleus the dragon sent off puffs of smoke when he breathed and the strawberry fields...

Leo cleared his throat loudly. "Argo II to Percy. Dude, where'd you go?"

I smiled sheepishly. "Well they should be here soon. I told them to come today. Thalia, the hunters are on their way, correct?"

Thalia nodded. "Yes indeed they are. Actually, there they are now."

Sure enough, when I looked back to the hill, a bunch of teenage girls in silver hunting gear with white wolves and ravens stood with bows drawn.

Thalia stood up on the table, crushing my beautiful pancakes underfoot mind you, and waved them over. Thalia gave many of them hugs and talking with them for a few minutes before directing them to the Artemis table where they could sit and enjoy breakfast after their travels.

I looked over to see Jason eating pop tarts with a fork. I shook my head at him, disappointed. Thor was not a good influence. But at least Jason still had the decency to use his silverware.

People were laughing half-heartedly all around me, trying to cheer themselves up. All of it was fake. All of it was my fault. Some people are going to die soon because of me. Again.

My vision tunneled and I suddenly felt sick. I jumped to my feet catching the attention of everyone at our table. Annabeth gave me a puzzled look.

I looked around wildly, feeling trapped and panicked. I needed to get out of here. I need to go. I gave her a shaky smile and took off for the beach.

Annabeth's POV

My lips parted in surprise when Percy took off running. I knew that look. It was the look of guilt, fear, and panic all in one. He wore that expression often, but he usually hid it well. Now, he didn't bother.

Suddenly all of the eyes at the table were on me. I ignored all the questioning looks and chased after Percy.

When I got to the beach he was sitting on the sand with his knees pulled up to his chest. His toes were in the water and he was rocking back and forth. His eyes were squeezed tightly shut and his chest went up and down in uneven breaths.

I wondered briefly if he was have a panic attack or something but quickly dismissed the thought. He was crying.

"Oh, Percy." I said as I walked over to him. He didn't look up when I sat next to him in the sand, or when I wrapped my arms around him, or when I kissed his forehead.

"It's not your fault." I said into is ear. "Everyone says that. Every time. Like it'll magically make everything better.  It it is my fault. All of it. And it always has been." He says. His words are muffled by the embrace.

"Well then," I said looking at him, "if it is your fault, own it. You're the leader here, act like it. No one here is gonna blame you, so you need to stop blaming yourself."

He looked at me, tears making his eyes glassy. His mouth parted in awe at my words of wisdom. I laughed lightly at his expression. "Did I do better than 'everyone else'?" I asked.

He sighed in content and snuggled back into me. "You always do." He muttered softly. I smiled and kissed his forehead again, but he was already asleep.

We sat that way for about an hour, him taking a nap and me watching the waves and playing with his hair. It occurred to me that he wasn't getting much sleep.

I was pulled out of my reverie when Piper ran up to me. She smiled at the scene in front of her and sat down on my right side.

"What is it?" I mouthed. She looked again at Percy and her face softened. "Our visitors are here." She mouthed back and got up and ran back into camp.

I shook Percy gently and he groaned. His beautiful sea green eyes glistened and he looked refreshed. His eyes caught mine and he smiled at me. A real smile, so full and happy and blissful. I pecked him on the lips and stood, offering him my hand. He took it and we headed into camp.

Magnus's POV

I walked up the hill with my companions. With me were Alex, Sam, Halfborn, TJ, Mallory, Blitzen, and Hearthstone.

Well? Jack buzzed around my neck. I want to see Riptide.

I sighed and led the group over the hill and into camp.

What I saw was breathtaking. On one side we're several wings of cabins and other Greek buildings and activities. On the other side was a Roman camp with a solid looking defensive line.

Beyond that was a vast forest with silver tents throughout the tree line. I turned my head back to the right and saw big baby blue house and a beach with the ocean stretching far into the distance.

I saw an amphitheater, a rock wall with lava(remind me to try that one later), a pegasus stable, a dining pavilion, and many other amazing things.

But the people were the most impressive. Someone in the Dining Pavilion pointed at us and yelled to the others and all heads turned. People at picnic tables and people sitting at couches stood and ran to the hill. Most stayed, but the ones that came still made a lot of noise.

There were also some girls in silver hunting gear and a...Cyclops. Ok. That's cool. Totally not scared or anything. Stop looking at me like that!

I saw some satyrs and what could only be nymphs. I took a deep breath and forged ahead. A pretty girl with choppy brown eyes and eyes like a kaleidoscope game to me first with a big smile on her face.

"You must be Magnus." She said holding her hand out. I shook it and nodded, at a loss for words. "You know, Percy wouldn't tell us who he called. It was like he was trying to be super suspenseful."

"Sounds like him." I managed. Alex stepped closer to me. I could tell he didn't like there way some of the people were looking at him.

"We can die out here you know." He whispered in my ear. "I know." I answered. I gave his hand a quick squeeze and tuned into the conversation in front of me.

A boy stepped forward. He was wearing all black and was deathly pale. He had a strange aura that I couldn't place. Wait. Death. He smells like death. I noticed that he was holding the hand of a blond boy and that made me feel a little better. We're not the only "oddities". I always hate it when people look at us like we're freaks. Maybe here, were we're all freaks, we won't be treated differently.

"You guys are dead." He stated quite matter-of-factly. Sam looked offended. "I'm not!" "And neither is the dwarf and the elf, for all it's worth." TJ added. The boy took on an evil grin and started rubbing his hands together until the blond boy took him aside and started scolding him.

Alex scanned the crowds. "Where is Percy and Annabeth anyway?" He asked. Another blond guy looked at the girl. "Do you want to go find them, or do you want me to come with?"

She kissed him really quick on the lips and said, "I'll go get them." She ran into the camp in the direction of the beach. I just looked at the guy feeling a little nervous because the only people I know here are the two people not present.

I screamed when a centaur approached us. He just chuckled lightly and held out a hand to each of us in turn. "I am Chiron, nice to meet you all. I've heard so much about you. Heimdall is quite the gossiper."

I shifted my feet. "Um..." Just then the girl came back. "There coming in a little bit. Percy was sleeping. It was so adorable."

Probably noticing my discomfort, Chiron motioned for the campers to disperse. "Alright, I want the Seven, Thalia, Nico and Will, and the Avengers, and you guys of course, in the Big House. Camp Counselors, Centurions, and Praetors as well please. Back to preparations everyone!"

Chiron led us and a few of the teenagers to the Big House. Once inside, everyone took a seat around the ping pong table. A weird spot to have a war counsel, but I've seen worse.

Percy and Annabeth entered through the door holding hands. Percy smiled at me sheepishly and then looked at Chiron before taking the seat at the head of the table. "Shouldn't we wait for the others so we don't have to do this again?" He said. "Others?" The blond guy with the electric eyes said.

"Oh yeah." Percy said. "They should arrive any minute now. Suddenly, my ears were filled with  sounds of siblings bickering. A rip appeared in the air and a hand reached out. I scrambled back in my chair and fell on the floor with a thump. Alex just laughed at me. Meanie.

The rip widened and out stepped a boy with dark skin and dark curly hair. He wore a strange kind of...pajamas? And what's with the curvy sword. I felt Jack buzz agains my chest.

Ohhh but those curves.

"Jack!" I thought. Get to know the sword first. Gosh.

The boy reached back into the rip and grabbed the hand of a girl with blonde hair. She sported red highlights and combat books. That and the pajamas looked a little strange.

Then, out stepped another boy with darker skin than the first. As soon as he got out, he took the hand of the girl. The first boy looked into the portal thingy and another girl stepped out, older than the first.

She also wore pajamas and held a staff and boomerang like the others. She had dark hair cut in a bob and she had a strange glow.

"Well," Percy said breaking the silence. "Let's get started."

Hello people! Sorry it took so long to update. I kind of rushed to the battle but then forgot I had other things I wanted to put first, so now I'm trying to slow it down a little bit. It shouldn't be too long now that everyone is finally together. I hope you enjoyed the chapter and make sure to vote and comment. Love ya demigods:)
