Chapter Fourteen~A Friendly Game

Tony's POV

And I thought things couldn't get any weirder! Apparently I was wrong. Very wrong. I began to realize this when the kids walked out of a freakin rip in the universe!

"Let's get started." Percy said smiling. He got up and shook the hands of the four new comers and led them to take a seat at the table, before realizing that there was literally no room at all.

"Oh...um how about we all just sit on the floor, play a 'get to know you' game like they do in kindergarten." He led is to the space in front of the big fire place with the live leopard head above.

I had to laugh at his choice to sit on the floor. I had said the same thing at a press conference many years ago. I was just going to announce that I was Iron Man. Wow, that was a long time ago.

As we settled on the floor, Chiron pulled Percy aside and they talked in hush times for a couple minutes when Percy motioned for Annabeth to join the conversation. I wonder what their talking about?

Percy ran off to his cabin real quick while everyone settled on the floor in a big circle. A boy with blond hair and gray eyes tried to sit on the green haired person's lap, but he made a face and pushed him off. He landed hard on the floor and scowled at the green haired guy before brushing himself off and sitting next to him instead.

Hazel sat with an adorable Frank-kitten in her lap. She pet his white fur and watched the scene in front of her.

The girl with the highlights was bickering and arguing with one of the guys in her little group. The other two just watched in amused silence.

Soon, Percy came running back into the room holding something. "Okay, we are going to pass the Minotaur horn around the circle and tell our name, godly parent, host god, or superhero name, and your favorite color. Annabeth will start us off." He said and passed the horn to his right, into Annabeth's hands.

Annabeth ran her fingers along the horn as if reliving fond memories. "My name is Annabeth Chase. I'm a daughter of Athena and I guess my favorite color would be chrome."

"I'm Alex Fierro. My pronouns today are he and him. My mother is Loki, and I love the color green."

"My name is Magnus Chase, I'm Annabeth's cousin, I'm a son of Frey, and I hate the color blue."

Percy gasped loudly and covered his heart in mock hurt.

"I'm Samirah al Abbas and I'm a daughter of Loki. I'm also a Valkyrie and I guess I like green too."

"Blitz, Son Of Freya, and I love a dark blue."

The pale elf sitting next to him didn't say anything, just moved his hands around rapidly.

Magnus watched him and then translated, for he had been signing to him to say what everyone had said so far so he could understand.

"This is Hearthstone. He is our very own deaf elf from Alfeim. He likes the color white."

"Halfborn Gunderson, Viking from a long long time ago."

"Mallory Keen, daughter of Frigg."

"My name is Thomas Jefferson Jr., you can call me TJ for short. I'm a son of Tyr and I proudly wear my Union colors."

I looked him over beside me and I realized that he indeed wore Union colors. My mouth opened in question and then closed again. This was all too confusing for me. Magnus noticed my confusion and quickly explained.

"We're all dead. I died pretty recently, as did Alex. Sam, Blitz, and Hearth are still alive, but Halfborn died 1,200 years ago, Mallory died in 1972, and TJ in the 1860s during the Civil War."

Everyone but Percy and Annabeth stared at them in shock. I nudged Steve. "That was before your time." I snickered. He just elbowed me like the grumpy old man he is.

We went through our introductions and then it came to the most recent newcomers.

"Don't worry, we aren't dead." Said the first one. Then he introduced himself. "I'm Carter Kane, and for a while, I hosted Horus."

The girl beside him elbowed him once more for good measure and then realized everyone was looking at her. "Oh, dear me. My name is Sadie Kane and this is my brother," she then reached over and covered Carter's ears, "and quite annoying I might add." Carter slapped her hands away and pretended to pout. "I hosted Isis for awhile as well. And I love the color red."

Next spoke the other boy. He looked a little older than the first with slightly darker skin. "My name is Walt Stone. I am currently still hosting Anubis, and stay away from Sadie." He finished while squeezing Sadie's hand.

"So that's why you also smell like death." Nico quipped.

The other girl went next. "I'm Zia Rashid. I hosted Nephthys and then later on, Ra."

We all nodded in respect even though I had no idea what the heck that meant. We went further around the circle and finally Percy finished us off.

"I'm Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon. And I'm proud to say that my favorite color is blue!"

He sat with his hands on his hips and his chest puffed up and a proud look on his face. Annabeth slapped him playfully on the arm and we all started laughing. He leaned over and kissed her full on the lips and I could've sworn the whole room seemed to lean towards them.

Finally Chiron intervened and called for attention. "Alright alright , that's quite enough you two." Then he turned back to all of us and spoke. "We have decided that a group training session is in order."

Instantly everyone in the room either chatting excitedly, or complained loudly. "Now now, we thought, what better way than a friendly game of Capture the Flag?" That one got many cheers. Capture the Flag must be a big deal here.

"That's a great idea Chiron." Alex said. Chiron just laughed. "Oh, it wasn't my idea." Alex looked puzzled. "It wasn't? But you're the leader, aren't you?"

"Oh, I'm merely a teacher here. Percy's the leader."

Jason's POV

I bounced on the balls of my feat as everyone gathered around to get into their armor. This was going to be an interesting game. I was on the side of Camp Jupiter for the time being to even things out a little bit.

The way Percy explained it, it was going to be a three-way game. Team 1 is Camp Half-Blood, Team 2 is he Hunters, the Magicians, the Asgardians, and the Avengers. Team 3 is Camp Jupiter.

I strapped on my armor and grabbed my sword. I declined a helmet(it was a little tough, knowing my history with head injuries) and a shield, knowing that if I put on all that stuff, I wouldn't be able to move very fast and I wanted to play offense.

I walked over to Reyna, Frank, and Hazel and we discussed team captains. We decided on Reyna. Then came the matter of assistant team captain. "I'll be assistant team captain." I volunteered. Reyna gave me a strange look.

"I was going to say Frank should be assistant team captain because he is Praetor."

My face fell for a moment before I realized everyone was watching me. "Oh! Yeah, good job Frank! I totally agree. Your the man for the job! Or goat, or bulldog, or dragon, or elephant,  or..." Frank cleared his through. "Yeah I get it. Thanks." He said laughing. Hazel's eyes seemed to glow under her helm and they contrasted nicely with her golden armor.

We organized our teams and headed for the woods. Once there, Chiron announced team captains and assistant team captains of each team.

"From Team One we have Percy Jackson as team captain and Annabeth Chase as assistant. From Team Two we have Steve Rogers, and Thalia Grace as assistant. From Team Three we have Reyna Arellano, and Frank Zhang as assistant.

"Most of you know the rules. No purposeful maiming and killing. The creek is still the boundary line. In order to win, your team needs two of the three flags in your territory. Once the flag is safely in the grasps of your team, for the sake of the game not going forever and ever, it will stay there and be declared yours. If all three of the teams has a stolen flag, the winner will be the one to first capture a flag.

"Now to your marks and disperse. Hide your flags and begin!" He bellowed.

I took off after Frank to hide the flag.

Percy's POV

We hid our flag high in a tree and Leo set to work with his siblings on making snares and traps. Leo and Piper would stay and defend, among others, and Annabeth and I were going offense. I went right with about twenty campers and Annabeth went left with the same amount.

It wasn't long before we came across attackers. Jason's sword met mine in a clash of sparks. I laughed as I parried his strikes with ease. I disarmed him without much resistance and was getting ready to keep running when he sent a blast of wind at me and sent me flying backwards.

So you want to play that game, do you. As I stood up, he seemed to realize his mistake. When it came to a game of powers, I always win. Even though the creek was several yards away, it came swirling around me.

I felt refreshed and energized. I sent a blast of water at him so strong that it slammed him into a tree, knocking him out. Should've worn that helmet buddy.

I kept running, not really waiting for my team because I knew they knew their way around and were perfectly capable. Sherman Yang, an Ares kid, and his girlfriend Miranda Gardiner, daughter of Demeter, followed me as I took a quick detour.

"Um...Percy, I don't think we should go this way." She said nervously. I didn't listen to her as I ran through the strange grove of trees. I could see Team 2's flag in the distance, its green hue glittering in the splintering sunlight.

Only about six hunters, Steve, and Blitz and Hearth stood guard at the flag. I was so close!

I slowed down when the trees started whispering.

Death follows you, Perseus Jackson.

They seemed to say. I stopped abruptly, causing Sherman and Miranda to bump into me. "Do you hear that?" I asked.

Miranda nodded. "This is the Grove of Dodona. We really shouldn't be here."

"I thought the only entrance was through the Myrmeke's lair?" Sherman argued.

"I guess not." Miranda mumbled. But I wasn't listening to them.

All those casualties your fault. How do you sleep at night?

"I don't." I whispered.

"This is strange. They usually talk in poems and rhymes." Miranda noted.

You're always a special case, aren't you Percy.

A shiver ran up my spine. This was really starting to creep me out.

A greater pain then you have ever known is in your near future. Beware his silver tongue, for it has dire consequences.

"Whose silver tongue?" Sherman asked. I just shrugged, trying to show that it didn't bother me. But it did. A lot.

"What has dire consequences?" I asked, only the slightest quiver in my voice.

It is not the words that cause the trouble, but the choice to believe them. Beware.

"Come on guys, let's go." I said as I trudged forward. The trees seemed to lean towards me as we left. Their voices followed us as we walked.

Pain. Suffering. You have so much blood on your hands, Perseus. How can you stand it?

I walked faster.

When the time comes, seek Lord Apollo. His help will be essential.

I started jogging. The voices grew louder.

The food of the gods will be of no help to you now.

Sprinting.

Horrors unknown to even the gods.

Sprinting faster.

Don't be afraid of your fate.

We burst through the trees. I put my hands on my knees, breathing hard. My lungs ached and I was reminded of my time in Tartarus. I sucked in a sharp breath. Tartarus will be arriving soon with a ginormous army and we're playing a silly game of Capture the Flag. What was I thinking? And what about those warnings?

The last statement bothered me the most, I think. "Don't be afraid of your fate," they had said. What the heck does that mean?

I didn't realize Sherman and Miranda were talking to me. "...you okay?" Miranda was saying. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just get winded more easily after..." I didn't need to finish. They just nodded and we approached the flag.

The rest of my squad chose that moment to burst through the trees and cause a distraction. Perfect timing! I made contact with Conner Stoll and he whispered to his brother.

The rest of our troops caught on soon enough and caused an excellent distraction while I snuck up behind Steve and grabbed the flag.

I was only a few feet away when he whirled around and spotted me. "Hey!" He yelled and I ran. Faster than in the grove. I ran and ran and ran, my instincts taking over my mind.

I expertly dodged roots and branches and campers. At one point a flying sword which I soon recognized as Jack flew towards me.

His runes were glowing all different colors and he was singing 'Look What You Made Me Do' by Taylor Swift while attacking people. He flew at me, but I knocked him off course into another camper from Team 3 and set off again without looking back.

Just when I was starting to get tired, I passed over the creek and my energy was restored. I couldn't help but grin when I saw our flag in the distance. Almost there.

I took another bound forward when I was violently thrown to the side. I got the wind knocked out of me and I lay on the ground stunned.

Thalia looked down at me with a pitying smile and took the flag from my grasp and sprinted in the other direction, back to their base.

"No!" I yelled, standing up slowly. I didn't have to worry long because just then Clarisse and Annabeth came in with weapons gleaming. Thalia just laughed and dodged them.

But Annabeth wasn't going to let her go that easily. Thalia was extremely agile thanks to her years as a hunter, but so was Annabeth, in her own way. She lunged at Thalia and hopped right on her back, knocking her to the ground.

Piper joined in the fight and ordered Thalia to give up the flag. Thalia was well guarded though, and the charmspeak had little effect. Even so, Annabeth eventually wrestled it free from Thalia's grasp. "Percy!" She screamed, tossing the flag through the air.

A gust of wind blew it off course, straight into the waiting hands of Jason. "Dang it Grace." I said, running after him.

Frank's POV

This is too easy. I raced across the forest floor as a mouse and made my way to Team 1's Base. While Percy, Annabeth, Clarisse, and Piper fought Thalia and Jason for Team 2's flag(I hope Jason wins that fight, then we'd win if my plan works), I slipped right past them all, unnoticed and scurried to the flag.

Leo stood guard with his hands ablaze and a few other campers stood nearby. It was clear that they were playing an offensive game.

I turned into normal Frank and quickly plowed into Leo, who fell with a yell of surprise. I scaled the tree and grabbed the flag. "Sorry, gotta fly." I said as I jumped from the tree, turning into a giant eagle in the process.

With the flag in my talons, I barely got five feet before another bird knocked me out of the sky. As I fell, the bird(a flamingo?!?) grabbed the flag from me and dropped to the ground.

The flamingo morphed into Alex Fierro, who soon darted back into the woods. Gosh darn it.

Sadie's POV

A cheer went up when Alex slammed Team 1's flag into our territory. Now no one could steal it and it was ours.

I laughed maliciously and ran with Spangles and Metal Butt to Team 3's base. I spun my wand between my fingers and got my staff ready. I didn't want to hurt anyone, but I wasn't going to lose.

We came across Reyna and the entire first and second cohorts. While Steve battle Reyna, sword against shield, and Metal Butt distracted the legion by shooting beams of energy into the crowd, I snuck around unnoticed.

I could see their red flag fluttering in the breeze and I laughed maniacally. I love this feeling of adrenaline pumping in my veins. I've missed it.

Cohorts three and four stood guard, an impressive sight. I took a deep breath and edged around the legion.

When I got close enough to touch it, Hazel, who was the official guard, caught my eye. Her eyes widened in recognition and she just about called out to her troops when I help a finger to my lips.

I doubted she would let me go, but to my surprise, she stepped aside and pretended to be doing something. She caught my eye once more and her gold eyes sparkled with mischief.

"Run fast." She mouthed. I made a break for it and grabbed the flag. The demigods noticed me almost immediately and I screamed in excitement and all around adrenaline and sprinted like my life depended on it.

The heavily armed teenagers were hot on my tail and I poured on the speed.

A rip opened ahead of me and Carter stuck his head out. He smiled at me and held out his hand. I lunged for it and he pulled me into the Duat, leaving a bunch of confused teens in our wake.

We emerged back at our base and I slammed down the flag in triumph. Cheers we're heard all around and Chiron emerged from the trees.

"It looks like we have our winners! Congratulations Team 2!"

Hello people! How was that! I really enjoyed writing that one. I was just in the right kind of mood I guess. And listening to the Greatest Showman Soundtrack helps.

I would personally like to thank percyjacksonlover21 for all of her help. She helps me plan the chapters and adds a very valuable opinion. I really appreciate it. I'm also helping her write a story called "Truth but mostly dare" which is a really funny story that you should go and read.

Also, guys! Thanks for the 500 reads! That's amazing! You have no idea how much that means to me. Thank you so much.

Remember to vote and comment and I hope you enjoyed that chapter. Love you Demigods:)
