Chapter Fifteen~War is Coming
Percy's POV
I sighed as I brushed myself off. I can't believe the newbies won! I mean, I'm not a sore loser or anything, but seriously! How! I walked up to the large group that had gathered around Team 2 and I met up with Jason along the way. I patted him on the back good-naturedly and he shoved me away with a grin.
I just stuck my tongue out at him. Leo joined our "conversation" and started laughing at our antics. "Very mature, you too." He said laughing. "You're one to talk." Jason said back.
Chiron was just handing the last laurel wreath to Sadie when I felt something. You know that feeling you get when you're listening to loud drums? You don't necessarily hear it as much as you feel it.
There was a dull thump thump thump that I could just barely feel. It wasn't strong enough or loud enough to alert anyone else. I guess I heard it because of my dad being the earthshaker.
I stopped walking and tilted my head slightly in concentration. Jason and Leo gave me a puzzled look. "There's something..." at this point, Chiron felt it too.
We exchanged a glance and I knelt to the floor and pressed my hand to the ground. The tremors were getting bigger and more noticeable.
Thump thump thump.
Pebbles and twigs started to dance. The leaves in the trees shook. There was a stillness in the air as everyone went quiet, straining to hear, straining to feel.
I could practically here the tree's words in my head. Don't be afraid of your fate.
I stood up and shared a grim look with Jason and Leo. "They're coming. War is coming."
At those words, the people in the woods were thrown into a panicked frenzy. We all tried to rush back to camp to prepare.
We broke through the trees and ran into the camp. The sound was growing steadily and the vibrations now rattled my bones. I found Annabeth in the crowd and gave her hand a squeeze.
Don't be afraid of your fate.
That was starting to freak me out now. No matter how much I tried to block out the voices, they came back louder and louder, echoing the same thing.
Don't be afraid of your fate.
And then the most horrifying thing I could imagine appeared. Standing on the hill, was the biggest army I have ever seen. Even though I could only see the front lines, the army covered the entire space. My knees turned to jelly. I knew the army was going to be big, but never did I imagine this. This is insane.
Fresh waves of guilt rolled over me and churned my insides. I've put all these people in danger again. They were gonna die because of me. Then I looked back at Annabeth and I remember the conversation we had. "If it is your fault, own it. Your the leader here, act like it." I pushed my feelings of guilt and fear aside and instead replace them with anger. Red hot anger that has been building up inside of me for too long.
I didn't see Tartarus yet, so that's one good thing. Time to start killing monsters. I made eye contact with several allies as we hurried to get on our armor. Jason, Leo, Piper, Hazel, Magnus, Carter, Steve, Tony, Sherman, Thalia, Tyson, Conner, Katie, Chiron. And finally Annabeth.
A grim smile grew on my face and I knew now that I was ready.
Don't be afraid of your fate.
I'm not.

Alex's POV
If you didn't already know, my pronouns for today are he and him. Also, that army is so f****** huge! I was not exactly expecting that when Percy recruited us. But what the hell, lets do this. At least it's not Ragnarok.
I grinned at Magnus, quickly strapped on my armor, and kissed him on the lips. When I pulled away, he blushed. "See ya around." I said. He nodded, too choked up to say anything. He brought out Jack from his necklace, told him the mission, looked at me again, and then ran for the infirmary.
Meanwhile, I ran right into the thick of the battle, Percy leading the charge. Then we all stopped when we realized the monsters couldn't get into the camp. We just watched in amusement as they charged forward, roaring and howling, only to run right into the border and fall back into their army. A few were turned to dust by the weapons wielded by their allies behind them, but not enough to make a difference.
Then, this kid that I really wanted to punch(like, really bad) stepped forward bravely. He looked at Percy as if daring him to do something about what he was about to do, and yelled at the top of his lungs. "I, DAMIEN WHITE, GRANT THE ARMIES OF TARTARUS PERMISSION TO ENTER CAMP!"
"NO!"Several people screamed as the border came crashing down. Several people tackled Damien to the ground, but the damage was already done. That Son of a Bitch. And all the death and carnage that was sure to come could've been prevented.
Percy was practically shaking with anger as the army showed it's full size as it ran down the hill towards the camp, towards us. He turned to the demigods surrounding Damien and looked him right in the eye.
"Why?" he asked in a cool and calm voice that sent shivers up my spine. Damien already had a broken nose and a black eye. He sneered at Percy. "Because I hate you all! All of you!" He screamed. Then he looked directly at Percy and said, "My mom is the goddess of revenge and justice. These monsters want revenge on you. They want justice. I'm just helping them achieve it."
He sounded absolutely insane. Percy just stared at him, momentarily forgetting about the approaching army. "Ethan Nakamura said almost the same thing once. He was a son of Nemesis too. But he realized that this is not what his mother would want. He made better choices. He died a hero. I can't say the same for you."
Damien looked taken aback."But-but, I'm not dead. I-,"then he frowned and pointed at Percy. "You. I hope you die."
Then Thalia, who was holding one of his arms, said, "You worthless traitor," and more or less 'threw him to the wolves.'
I'm not so sorry to say that the 'wolves' tore him to pieces. The army he allowed in showed him no mercy as they tore him to bits. And I am not at all ashamed to say that his screams put a smile on my face.

Steve's POV
I sighed as I drew my shield. This army was about three times the size of the Chitauri and Ultron armies combined.
Percy looked about ready to blow a fuse, he was so mad. But what that kid did, that was a really dick move(sorry I had too. I know I always get after the others for their language habits, but my conscience was telling me to say that).
Earlier that day, Leo brought us to Bunker Nine and fitted Celestial Bronze to our weapons. Sure, they killed monsters just fine, but this would make the job a lot quicker.
Around me, the world came to life. The army was thundering down the hill, hunters drew bows, Tony and Sam shot into the sky, and demigods drew weapons.
Percy yelled in rage and a wave of water traveled all the way from the beach and encircled him in his own hurricane. He brandished his sword and gave the enemy a look of pure hatred that made me want to crawl away and hide.
I have never seen him wear a look so intense before, and I realized with a start that it looks almost natural on his face. I was suddenly very very glad that we were on the same side.
Percy had looked scary before, but now that he was trying...actually, come to think of it, I don't think Percy's trying to look scary now, he just is. That thought alone almost made me shit(sorry) my pants.
Ah, to hell with it. The army of monsters met ours in a clash of metal and body parts and I flung my shield into their ranks.

Leo's POV
I rubbed my hands together, making them steam. Oh yeah, this'll be fun. I pulled two hammers out of my handy dandy tool belt and I lit them on fire. I love doing that! My flaming hammers of dooooommmmmm!!!!!!
I wound back and threw them both at the enemy as hard as I could. Now let me tell you a story. It took a looonnnggggggg time to be able to coordinate enough to throw both of them accurately. But I've been practicing.(Don't tell the other campers that the holes in the wall of the Big House was my fault).
I took two more hammers out of my tool belt and twirled them expertly around my fingers. I lit them on fire and grinned evilly. I zeroed in on an empousa and threw extra hard.
The momentum and the searing hot metal cut her head clean off. Fist pump! Yeah! That's how we roll!
The hairs on the back of my neck stood straight up. I whirled around, not thinking to look first, and flung the second hammer.
A Cyclops had snuck up on me, an evil one that is, and thank goodness my reflexes are still on point. The hammer imbedded itself deep in the Cyclops's gut, still burning. He stared at it for a moment before bursting into dust.
I reached back into my tool belt for another hammer, but the belt needed some rest time. I sighed and instead willed my hands to catch fire.
I started lobbing fireballs at monsters and taking a decent amount out.
Arrows whistled past my ears, from both sides, and singing swords and whatnot flew past. I found myself back to back with Frank. "Hey!" I yelled in greeting over the noise. "Hi!" Frank answered before turning into an elephant and stomping on a horde of telkhines.
He turned back to normal and shot an arrow right between the eyes of a hellhound. "Nice day for it." He said. "You bet!" I answered while plunging my flaming hand into the chest of a random monster and pulling out its heart. Groooossssssss!!!!!!!!
"Icky icky icky icky!" I screamed as I jumped around, shaking my hand all over the place. I proceeded to wipe the disgusting substance on Frank.
He did not like that very much. He gave me a look that said, really?, turned into a lion, roared in my face, and then ran off to dispose of other monsters.
I grinned and turned back to my dirty work.

Grover's POV
I bleated nervously. It was an old habit. But I wasn't a scared little baby goat anymore. I'm Lord of the Wild! But today was a tough day. I felt...empty somehow.
Earlier that day, Percy pulled me aside. He asked if I would break the empathy link. I was astonished at first. Why on earth would he want that? Were we not friends anymore?
But then he explained to me the reasoning. He wanted to break it in case anything happened to him. Of course, he'd asked before in past battles, and I had refused.
But this time, he felt especially determined. He said he'd heard mutterings of prophecy and he wanted to be extra careful. He's been my best friend forever and it was really hard for me to hear him talk about potentially dying.
It kind of felt like that one night years ago after Bianca died. Percy was feeling really guilty about it and he even told me that it should've been him.
I got so scared when he said that. I couldn't stand to lose him. And now he was doing it again. Scaring me, scaring everybody. Someday he's not going to just be able to walk away from a battle. Someday he's gonna get hurt.
And like anyone would be, I was scared.
