Chapter Eight~Divide and Conquer
Leo's POV
We all sat around the table with little elbow space. Percy had recovered nicely and was joking around as if nothing had happened. Wanda still looked a little shaken, though she seemed to be doing better.
"So," Steve said, trying to start conversation with Wanda. "Where's Vision?"
"He is with Directer Fury discussing....life." She said sheepishly. "Long topic." Steve answered with a shrug.
I took a bite of my food when there was a bright light on the balcony. Thunder rumbled and lightning flashed. I immediately thought, Oh schist, who angered Zeus!
I turned and saw a man win blond shoulder length hair and fancy armor holding a hammer above his head. He came rumbling in the room, the sounds of thunder echoing behind him.
Okay, definitely not Zeus.
"Thor's back." Tony said with a smug smile.
"MY FRIENDS! I HAVE RETURNED TO MIDGARD BECAUSE YOU HAVE INFORMED ME THAT YOU NO LONGER HOLD THE DEMIGODS PRISONER!"
He strode forward and then stopped, his eyes widening in alarm as he spotted us. I waved nervously.
"YOU STILL KEEP THEM PRISONER?!? YOU LIED TO ME!"
"No no no. They aren't prisoners anymore. They've joined us temporarily." Clint butted in.
Thor huffed. Jason whimpered beside me. He stood up as if in a daze, and approached Thor. He studied the god with such wonder I swear Percy looked betrayed.
He stood right in front of Thor, the latter frowning down at the son of Jupiter. Jason waved his hand from left to right, as if he were looking in a mirror.
To our amazement, Thor exactly mirrored his movement. Jason whimpered some more and stared at Thor in awe. "Bro." I muttered.
"We're twins." Jason whispered. Thor looked slightly uncomfortable and gently pushed Jason back in the direction of the table. We were all trying not to laugh.
I mean, sure, they both have blond hair and blue eyes and freaky sky voodoo, but twins? That's pushing it.
Jason sat down, looking like his would had been crushed. Thor regained some of his composure and started yelling again.
"WHERE ARE THE TARTS THAT POP!?!"
Natasha sighed and pushed them across the table as Thor took a seat. I expected some loud mouth comment from Tony, but his head was resting in his hand and he was snoring.
I snickered and elbowed Jason who started to giggle. What is his problem? First he thinks he's twins with a god, and now he's giggling? Man up dude.
Tony was drooling now and his head slipped out of his hand and he face planted his shawarma. Everyone was laughing now. That is until his head jerked up and his eyes glowed crimson.
"Kill the demigods. Master's orders." He monotoned. In no time, the arm of his suit was attached and the energy from his arc reactor whirled to life.
He whirled around like a robot and shot at me. I yelped and leaped to the side, but the energy still cut into my shoulder, burning it badly.
Now I don't burn, but I guess nobody told the energy that. I guess this stuff isn't fire related. I staggered backwards a little, my mind woozy from the pain. I clutched my shoulder, hoping to get some relief, blood running between my fingers.
I started to fall when Clint caught me. I was dimly aware of Jason yelling a ridiculous battle cry. "WHERE ARE THE TARTS THAT POP!"
I must be dying.
Clint lowered me to the ground, jolting my shoulder and I groaned. Percy ran over, completely ignoring the fact that Tony was trying to kill us all, and knelt beside me.
His eyes were calculating and calm, but worried, too. He held his hand out in the direction of the kitchen and an orb of water flew to his hand. He pressed it against my shoulder, the cool temperature making me squirm, but it felt good nonetheless.
I've seen him do this before, but he's never done it to me. His brows were knit in concentration as he used the water to mend the wound. I still don't entirely understand how he does this, but he did say that the human body is about 60% water. That fact somehow allowed him to heal wounds, just like the water does for him.
But if you paid more attention to that statement, you'd be a little more than freaked out. If the body was 60% , than that means Percy can literally control the body. He could kill someone with a simple wave of his hand. It scared me schist-less, but I didn't say anything.
In no time, I was back in my feet and only slightly swaying as I joined the fight. But there wasn't much to do. Steve whacked Tony in the back of the head and he crumpled.
"What the hell?" Natasha muttered. Tony groaned from the floor. He opened his eyes and they were back to normal. "Why is everyone looking at me? Am I that hot?" He slurred.
"Um, you just tried to kill us?" Natasha said. "Did I?" He asked. We all nodded. Jason was on Thor's shoulders for some reason.
"Who's the master?" Natasha questioned.
Tony mumbled. "Dunno. Can't see his face. Swirly. Red eyes. They glow." And then he proceeded to pass out.
I noticed Annabeth and Percy pale at that statement. "Do you know who he's talking about?" Steve asked.
"Yeah," Annabeth answered, her voice wavering slightly, "Yeah we know who he is."
"Tartarus."
The name echoed through the room and silence followed. I looked wearily at Percy, waiting for him to have a Panic Attack, but it never came.
He blushed at our looks. "Guys, I'm fine. Whatever Wanda did, I'm done with flashbacks. For now at least."
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. It was horrible to watch Percy freak out like that. And now that we had found out he had actually been tortured, that made it worse.
"Sir, there is a horde of monsters in Central Park." Jarvis informed. Then FRIDAY spoke. "Sorry sir, I enjoy using that voice. There is an attack in Central Park."
And with that, we suited up. Or the Avengers suited up. We demigods just got in battle armor. And with that I was ready to go.

Percy's POV
When we got to Central Park, there was a horde of monsters waiting for us. I saw some familiar faces, which made me mad. Can't they stay in Tartarus for at least one lifetime?
I thought I heard snakes, but it must be my imagination. I have not spotted any dracanae. A beautiful lady with a headscarf and sunglasses stepped forward. "Hello Perseus Jackson. Nice to see you again. Oh, and you've brought friends." She sounded and looked oddly familiar, but I couldn't quite place where I've seen her before.
I reached for Annabeth's hand, but it wasn't there. I whirled around to find her about 50 feet to my left. I looked in the other direction and saw Tony 50 feet to my right. The Avengers and the demigods were all spread out at equal distances as a monster came forward to battle us individually.
I wanted to run to Annabeth, but I heard a mighty roar and the biggest drakon I've ever seen advanced towards me. I shrugged. I guess we're doing this the hard way.
The lady in front cackled and hissed. Wait, hissed? She stalked towards Jason and started to unwrap her headscarf. The sound of snakes amplified. Her identity clicked just in time.
"Don't look!" I screamed as she removed her sunglasses. Thank the gods Jason got the message. He closed his eyes and held out his sword, ready for a blind fight.
The silence shattered as all our enemies attacked at once.

Annabeth's POV
Natasha's eyes glowed gold as she attacked me, pulling out her guns. Dam you eidolons! I didn't give her time to aim as I ran at her.
I kicked her in the gut and knocked the gun out of her right hand, but she still held one in her left. I aimed a kick at her side but she caught my leg and pulled me off my feet.
She shot wildly, grazing my thigh. I didn't want to hurt her, but Piper was needed to get the eidolons out. Wait, how many eidolons are there? Oh schist. We're screwed.
No, I can't think like that. Just gotta knock her out. I stood up and grabbed her left wrist and hit the gun out of her hand. I kicked it farther away and judo flipped her over my shoulder.
I grabbed a rock and brought it down on her head, knocking her out cold. I took a deep breath and stood up, only to be met with a pair of big yellow eyes.

Hazel's POV
I sneered in disgust as I faced my enemy. Last time we fought him Percy and Annabeth were passed out in the floor and I had recently been thrown at a wall.
The rest of the Seven and Nico had destroyed him, but now it's my turn.
I know from watching the last battle that I'll need to do more than stab him. I need a god.
I took a breath and charged. Hey, you only live twice. Our swords met and I created an illusion of me fighting him.
I backed away slowly to see my work and then bolted. I dodged monsters attacking my friends. I can help them later. Right now I need to find Thor.
I finally found him "battling" the Dwarves of Bologna. They looked more like they were just pissing him off rather than trying to kill him.
"PESKY MONKEY PEOPLE! GET OFF!"
He whacked them with his hammer and they dissipated. "Thor. I need your help with the giant." He seemed to understand and instead of taking the long way back, he grabbed me and flew us over.
We attacked as one and I sliced and stabbed and Thor hit him with his hammer and shocked him with lighting.
Thor hit him with his hammer one last time and brought Clytius to his knees. Using the Mist, I created two flaming torches. I walked up to him and saw the fear in his eyes.
I plunged the the torches into him and he went up in flames. I sighed in relief, but the battle wasn't over yet. Just then I heard a mighty roar. But not one of Mythology.
I turned and saw a giant green monster with glowing gold eyes and a screaming Leo, running as fast as he could.

Jason's POV
I lost Medusa awhile ago. She must of gotten bored of me, because she just disappeared. I was slightly relieved, she had gone to find a different victim. But then I remember that the other victims were my friends.
I quickly hid behind a rock and watched to see where I was needed most. I watched Dr. Banner stiffen, his eyes turning gold. Oh gods.
He roared and his skin turned green as he grew immensely in size. He beat his chest with his hands and ran at Leo, who was kicking a hellhound away from Captain America, who was, for some reason, standing frozen.
Guilt set in my gut. He wasn't frozen. He was petrified. Leo turned just in time and threw a fireball at the Hulk. That didn't seem to help his anger issues.
He roared again and Leo started screaming as he ran. Leo ran towards me, but I don't think he saw me. Too late I heard the snakes. She popped her head around the corner and Leo froze to a stop, his body now stone.
"LEO!" I screamed. I momentarily forgot about the giant green rage monster. He caught up to Leo and grabbed him, slamming him repeatedly into the floor.
I kept screaming his name, but I knew he couldn't hear me. When the Hulk was finished he seemed satisfied with his work. He left, Leo in a million shards at his feet.
I started to run forward, sobbing when Medusa turned to face me. I didn't have time to look away.

Percy's POV
The Drakon was all over me, but I wasn't very flattered. Probably because he was trying to kill me. Or is it a she? I don't know.
I struck my sword in the ground causing an earthquake that sent the drakon flying. I figured I only had a few seconds before he came back, so I searched the battlefield.
I scanned the chaos for Annabeth to see how she was doing and my heart stopped. She was frozen, her skin hard as stone. "No." I muttered. I tried to run to her, momentarily forgetting about my own opponent.
The drakon took that moment to attack, using his razor sharp tail to swat me aside. My side stung. I pressed my hand to my side and it came away wet with blood. I groaned and got to my feet.
The drakon stalked towards me, roaring in my face. I steeled myself and threw my sword like a javelin. It struck true in its maw and the monster retched. One final shudder and it fell to the ground lifeless. I didn't wait to see it disintegrate. I sprinted to Annabeth, kissed her stone lips and vowed to rip Medusa's head off.
Again.

Frank's POV
I faced Khione with a steely determination. I knew there was only one way to get rid of her for good, or at least for awhile, but I'd have to act fast.
I took out my firewood and advanced. I don't have much wood left, so I need to wait for the perfect moment. I took a deep breath and growled.
She laughed until I turned into a lion and lunged at her, swiping at her face. Claw marks stretched across her face as golden ichor dripped from her wounds. She sneered at me, her coffee colored eyes freezing into my soul.
I turned into a snake and slithered around her ankles as she kicked and flailed. I sprang up to her waist and then around her shoulders. I turned human again and clung to her shoulders.
I willed me firewood to catch fire and I plunged my lifeline into her heart, melting her to the core.
I plunged the burning stick into the grass and amazingly it stopped burning. I tucked it back into my fireproof pouch and ran off to help the others.

Tony's POV
What the hell is this thing?!? It's a giant lion and it's skin is impenetrable. I figured that out the hard way.
Percy ran up, holding his side with one hand, his other holding his sword. He was bleeding badly.
"It's the Namean Lion!" He screamed at me. "Aim for the mouth!" I nodded in understanding, but he was already gone, a look of determination and fury present on his face.
I flew up and aimed my hands. I yelled insults and shot at him. He roared at me, giving me the perfect opportunity. I shot a beam from my hands and he choked in surprise. He hacked and coughed and then melted into the ground.
I turned and saw the biggest monster I'd ever seen. The thing had eleven heads and it was hungrily biting at Wanda, who was surprisingly holding her own.
She waved her hands around, freezing the heads in different spots, so as not to get eaten. Some of the heads spit acid which was slightly terrifying.
I jumped in to help, flying around and shooting. I cut off three of the heads when Wanda screamed at me to stop. I landed next to her and popped my mask open.
"It's the Hydra of Myth. Cut one head, two more grow back. We need fire."
Of course, how could I be stupid. I've heard of Hydra. Heck, Cap spent his whole life fighting them. The monster was much the same. Cut one head, two more grow back.
I watch in disgust as six heads grew on the monster. Now there were fourteen heads. I fired up my chest piece and blew up the Hydra.
Hulk was making a mess of Central Park. Wanda went to try and calm him down and I flew off to help somewhere.

Piper's POV
I stood with my dagger drawn as a giant squealing pig stomped in front of me. I've heard of this monster from Percy. The Clazmanian Sow.
I took a deep breath and charged. It breathed its noxious breath and I held my breath. I leaped onto its snout and vaulted onto her head. I started to saw at her wing. I felt horrible, but I needed to keep the fight here.
She shrieked in pain, but I kept going. I felt like a bull rider being flung around. Except I was riding a giant pig while cutting off its wings.
I got the first one and spotted a giant eagle surveying the battlefield. "Frank!" I yelled. He spotted me and started to change. I rolled off the sow as Frank dropped on it as a ten ton elephant. It squealed and disintegrated.
I turned and ran, looking for Jason. And I found him. Except he was solid rock. I screamed in outrage. Last time I checked, you couldn't un-petrify someone. I heard the snakes behind me. I tensed, very tempted to look.
I heard a shink, much like Percy's pen turning into a sword. I stayed put as he swung. There was a sickening sound and a thump.
"You can look now." Percy said as he kicked the head away, her eyelids closed. My eyes immediately found the wound in his side.
"Percy, you're bleeding." He waved me off. "She got Annabeth too." He said sullenly. "Oh Percy, I'm so sorry." I said. I looked at Jason and a sob racked through my body.
The battlefield has quieted down immensely, but the battle isn't over yet. Clint and Sam were in a heated battle, and the winner was not yet clear.
$&@$&@$&@$&@
Sam's POV
What the heck Clint! He just started attacking me and I thought we were friends. No, we are friends. He's being possessed by something, his eyes are glowing golden.
I was aware of some of the others forming a circle around us, watching but ready to jump in when necessary.
I expanded my metal wings and flew at him. He shot an arrow that I knocked aside with my wings. I kicked him back and he nocked another arrow.
This time I caught it and recognized it right in time. I yelled and threw it as far as I could. It exploded in the air, five feet from me, and the impact threw me to the ground.
Clint came and kicked me in the face. Ow. He aimed another kick, but this time I was ready. I grabbed his foot and jumped up, trusting my wings to take me higher.
I dropped him, but he just nocked another arrow. He still had a full quiver. I shook my head and swung in for another hit. He grabbed onto my wing and swung into my back.
He brought the bow around and started choking me with the bowstring. I clutched at it and struggled to pull it away from my neck. I couldn't breath. My eyes bulged as I crashed into trees and eventually plowed into the ground.
Clint was thrown off me, his bow falling off my neck as I massaged my throat, gasping for breath. Finally someone decided I needed help and interfered.
Hazel walked forward calmly and held out her hands. I saw a version of myself stand up and stagger to Clint for another go. The girl then snuck around behind Clint and brought the hilt of her sword down on his head. He fell to the ground unconscious.
We all gathered around to assess the damage.

Percy's POV
I was feeling a little woozy from the pain and blood loss, but I was mostly in a different kind of pain. My Wise Girl is a statue. You can't undo that.
I was leaning heavily on Frank when we did a head count. Annabeth, Jason, and Steve had been petrified.
"Where's Leo?"Piper asked. We looked around for awhile, but we couldn't find him anywhere. We came to Jason's statue and I started to play detective.
Jason's face was frozen in shock and horror. Medusa's face was enough to do that to someone, but I don't think that was all.
I pointed my two fingers at his eyes, then stood directly beside him and pointed outwards. He seemed to be looking at something in horror.
"No." I muttered, walking forward fifteen paces, everyone trailing me anxiously. When I got to the place, I looked down and saw shards of plaster. Or stone. I fell to my knees. Piper sobbed behind me.
I picked up one of the larger shards and Leo's iris was barely visible. Another piece was the upper half of his ear, a curly wisp of hair curled around it. Most of him was just a fine powder.
Finally, the stress of the situation set in. Tears carved tracks on my dirty face. Thor kneeled beside me and patted my back.
"I think I might be able to help, demigod."
He stood and we all took a step back. He started to glow with a godly energy and the pieces of Leo's body swirled together in a mini tornado. The light got so bright, I had to look away. And then it faded away and Leo was a normal statue.
He was in mid-stride, his head was turned slightly, like he was looking over his shoulder and when he turned straight again Medusa was in his way.
His eyes were wide with fear as he tried to escape his attacker.
"Who did that to him." I growled angrily.
Bruce looked extremely guilty as he raised his hand. "I was possessed by something. I wasn't aware of what I was doing at the time because I was Hulk, but I remembered afterward."
"They're called eidolons." Frank stated in disgust. "Piper, can you take care of them?"
She nodded half heartedly and stood in the center of our little circle.
"Eidolons raise your hands." She said. Tony raised his eyebrows at that, but Frank gestures for him to wait and see.
Clint, Natasha, and Bruce all raised their hands, their eyes now glowing gold. "I want you to leave these bodies and never return. Never possess any of us ever again. Don't possess anyone to cause any harm to anyone here. Swear it on the River Styx."
They all swore and promptly collapsed. I remember when that happened to me. I got a pizza in the face. Not as fun as it sounds.
I started to sway, and I guess Tony saw me. "Whoa, kid, you okay?" "MmmHmm" I muttered as I fell.
Frank was right there to catch me and he lowered me to the ground. He looked to Hazel and she handed him some ambrosia. He shoved it in my mouth and it tasted like my mom's blue cookies.
Bruce came over and wrapped me up in some bandages and I was good to go. I also dumped a bottle of water on my head, so that helped.
I broke down again when we got back to Annabeth. "T-there's got to be some way to save them." I looked around as if daring anyone to answer me.
"There is, young one." Thor said.
I looked at him in awe. I didn't think there was actually gonna be a cure. The fates must be feeling generous today.
"There are four very important ingredients in the antidote. The first is water from the Fountain of Knowledge at the base of Yggdrasil. Mimír's head rests there now. The second is the mead from the goat at Valhalla. These two ingredients are from my world. These last two are from yours."
"You'll need the golden monster dust of the disintegrated Medusa and water from the Nymphaeum in Rome. With those ingredients, we should be able to un-petrify them."
Hazel, Piper, and Bruce were already running off to find the dust. I hope it didn't disappear already.
Suddenly, the pieces all clicked together like the perfect pizza. The reason we've never been able to un-petrify people until now is because we haven't been able to combine the worlds to make an extra special antidote. Man, I love pizza. But I love Annabeth more, so this better work.
The girls and Bruce soon come back with the dust and we make plans. The Avengers and most of the demigods are going to take the statues back to the tower and keep watch in the city. Thor, Piper, and I are going to Asgard, and then to Rome. We should only be a few days.
I'm not coming back without an antidote. You're not getting away from me Wise Girl. Never again.

Holy cow! Word count is 4191 words. That's like, twice as many as usual. Sorry for the wait, but the chapter has been in progress for awhile. It took awhile to finally finish it. I feel like that was a pretty good chapter. Lots of action and stuff. And no they're off to find an antidote. Yay! Will they make it? You'll just have to wait and see. Well, I hope you enjoyed and remember to vote and comment. Love ya demigods:)
