Chapter 3: I Don't Have A Boyfriend!

Irene's POV

"I can't believe you're here! It's been such a long time." I exclaimed to my older sister.

"Carmen! You won't believe how popular I am with my other classmates. They all love me!" Tae told her.

"Ugh. I hope I get to sleep in my own room." Landyn groaned.

That remark earned him a hard slap on his neck.

I snickered and watched as Landyn yelled in pain.

"Are you crazy? What was that for!" Landyn asked, aiming his hand at her hair.

"Landyn I swear that you'll never see that phone again if you pull her hair." Our dad declared, sternly.

"Wait, what? You're mad at me when she was the one who slapped me!"

Landyn stopped with his yelling once that he saw Dad reaching for his belt.

He immediately shut his mouth and went back to eating his dinner in silence.

Tae then laughed.

"Haha Landyn was about to get his..." he paused when he realized who he was sitting with.

"Haha. Yeah, get his behind beat. I would never say anything wrong. I'm a good child. Right big sis?" He questioned, putting his arm around me and hugging me.

"You wish." I remarked.

Landyn was eating his food in silence, Tae was about ready to pull my hair, and Mom and Dad were shaking their heads in disappointment.

"I really missed you all." Carmen gushed.

Camryn and I were currently in my room, having a conversation about what we've been up too. She was also brushing my hair since I just got out of the shower.

"Wow. I can't imagine how stressful it must be to be a college student."

"Yeah, it's pretty rough. But you shouldn't worry so much. You're still so young and youthful. Besides, you have amazing grades and an amazing personality. Just that alone can get you really far in the journey of being successful in this world." She said, her love for me radiating off of her.

I smiled at the thought of who I would be in the future. I would own a big house, have a stable and success career, and I would have a wonderful family to go along with it.

"So. Tell me about that boy you were talking too."

My fantasy came to an abrupt stop and my heart started to beat rapidly. A small smile started to find its way onto my face.

"He's just someone I met at school today." I replied quickly. Maybe a little too quickly.

"Oh really. Then why were you two holding hands when I walked out of the car? And why did he walk away when he saw me?" Carmen asked. I turned around to face her, unsure as to why this situation was so important.

"He's just a new friend that happened to be my tour guide for today. All he was doing was handing me a piece of paper with all of my classes with him on it. Besides, he probably had to go home like everyone else did." I told her, hoping she'd believe my white lie.

She looked at me with straight face signaling that she didn't believe me.

"Are you sure you don't like him. He looks like an adorable little boy who you could really get along with."

"He's fifteen." I cut her off.

"Aww! So you do like him. Young love is so cute." She replied.

I scoffed. "How can I like him when I literally just met him today?"

"Irene. You hate hugging or touching anyone when you first meet them, yet you were fine with holding his hand? You don't have to lie to me, I'm your big sister, and you absolutely don't have to hide your secret boyfriend from me." She declared while rubbing my arm, knowing that I hate when anyone does that.

"Are you crazy! I've never had a boyfriend before. Why would any boy want to date me? Have you seen me?" I questioned.

"My dear, dear sister. I too had my first love as a freshman. I even had my first kiss. And as your guardian, I give you permission to date this young man."

"Am I a joke to you?" I groaned.

She then started to laugh like a maniac.

"Shut up in there!" Landyn yelled from his room.

Carmen then yelled some things that must not ever be repeated.

"Oh, you have no idea what fun high school is going to be." She said, walking out of my room and down the stairs.

BEEP!

I look over to my phone and see a text message on it.

"Big sis?"

By the way, don't let Landyn see you talking to that boy. You know he's nosey.

As if I didn't already know that.

As if on cue, Landyn walked into my room and sat on my bed. He then started to lie down slowly and text someone.

"Um. What do you think you're doing?" I asked him.

"Tae's getting beat up by Carmen and they're screaming too much."

I rolled my eyes at him.

"You know that you made your door soundproof, right."

"Yeah."

"So why exactly are you in here?"

"I'm bored and I have nothing to do. So why not bother my dear little sister."

I ignored him at looked at my bag for the piece of paper that Elijah gave me. I put his number in my contact list and thought of something to say.

Would I be desperate to text him on the first day I met him? No. It's not desperate at all if he told me too. But it's only if I need his help. Hmm.

I contemplated with myself for a few minutes before deciding to just text him.

Hey! 👋🏽 It's Irene.

I smiled to myself as my heartbeat sped up. I put my phone down to fix my hair up for tomorrow. I stopped brushing it when I heard a beep.

Hey 🤗

He replied with a really cute emoji that made his response more meaningful.

I just wanted to thank you again for showing me around the school. I really appreciate it. 💕

I smiled to myself while writing it, but my smile grew even more when I saw what he replied with.

It was no problem. I enjoyed my day with you. ❤️

I pressed the button on my phone to let him know that I loved his meassage.

I then felt someone breathing on my neck and I looked up to see Landyn staring my phone and I down to every detail.

"Who are you texting and sending hearts to?" He asked me, trying to take my phone away from me.

"It's none of your business!" I responded with a glare.

"What are you turning into? My own little sister, getting a boyfriend on the first day of school! I knew that outfit was way too revealing!" He told me while shaking his head.

"Why does everyone think I have a boyfriend?" I said, realizing that I said it way too loud. Luckily my Mom always has her headphones in while she watches her movies and Dad is always asleep at this time.

Taemin then pokes his head into my room. He looks like he just died and walked out of his grave.

"You have a boyfriend? On the first day of school? This is why we don't let you wear crop-tops. Boys are always wanting your body." He said me, shaking his head in disappointment.

"I knew it! You do have a boyfriend!" Carmen yelled.

"Who has a boyfriend?" My dad asked, looking confused and angry as to why we just woke him up.

"Me. It's me. I finally found the love of my daddy." Carmen said, with none of us buying her act.

"Really? That's great honey! I'm glad you found someone who'll make you happy. I have to meet him soon." Dad gushed.

"Yeah well he just left on a plane to go to London for an assignment. He'll be gone for a few weeks." Carmen said, pretending to sound sad.

"I'm sure he'll be back to see to see you. And make sure you keep in touch with him. Once you find the right guy, you can't ever let him go." Dad told her.

Tae, Landyn and I were watching this performance for a while before we finally all went to our rooms.

I walked over to my phone to get a notification that Landyn put a heart on my message as well.

I sat on my bed and did my hair before going to sleep.

"I wonder what tomorrow's going to be like." I said out loud, wishing that tomorrow could somehow be better than today was.
