chapter 32 (Cave)
"Are you sure we are going the right way?"
I had no idea which way we are going, but it's better than going back to that town.
"Uhm we are going an way." I said hesitantly.
"You have no idea where we are going don't you." I sigh and stop with walking.
"Nope, but I guess if we just keep walking eventually we well find something." I look around, but only saw darkness.
The light above us didn't gave us that much light. I could only see what was right in front of me in the reach of my arm, but that's it.
"What if there isn't an end? For all we know we could just keep walking in circles." Libby said in a whisper.
I turn to her and saw she nervously looked around.
"Libby there have to be an end noting is for forever."
She nodded her head still looking concern.
We kept on walking not knowing if we were ever closer to the end or not.
"You know I was thinking." She suddenly spoke up.
We have been walk for what seems like hours and yet we hadn't seen anything or anyone.
"What were you thinking?"
It would be helpful if I know if it's day time or night time, but because we are here I don't know.
"Well you're pretty much all light and we are in a place that is filled with darkness. None of these creatures have ever seen light."
I frown my brows, but kept on walking.
"Yeah so?"
"So, shouldn't these creatures attacking you? You told me that you're less powerful here and that's why Logan didn't want you to bring you here in the first place."
Logan indeed told me that it was bad for me to be here. I need the sun, the light of the sun to feed my power or the light of the moon, but the sky here. It's just all black.
"These creatures are dark and they can feed of your power of light, so why didn't they come for you yet." She whisper taking my arm to face her.
I look at her and saw how concern she was.
"I don't know Libby I haven't thought about that."
If they really feed on light then I'm in huge danger and most importantly so is Libby. We need to get out of here before anything bad happen.
"Maybe it's better if we just keep on walking?" I suggest looking around.
"Yeah."
Before we could even take a step fire raised from the ground blocking our way. I stumbled back when I felt the heat on my skin.
"Nice try with the clothes, but you can't fool me."
We turn around and saw Abraham standing there. The fire and my light when out leaving us in complete darkness. I grabbed Libby's arm pulling her closer to me.
"You know I didn't think you had it in you to create that light." His voice came from all around us.
I had no idea where to look to find him.
Suddenly I felt Libby being ripped away from me followed by a scream. Something felled to the ground and I had no idea what it was.
"Libby!"
No answer not even from Abraham. A fire appeared next to me lighting up the trees around me. I look around and my eyes widen when I saw Libby laying on the ground.
Immediately I ran towards her, but was stopped when Abraham appeared in front of me out of flames.
His hand when to my throat before pushing me up against a tree. My hands when to his wrist trying to get him off of me.
"You thought you could escape? That you could save your little friend over there?" My eyes when to Libby who was still laying on the floor not moving.
"You thought wrong. You may defeat my daughter, but me Hazel. No I'm something else. I'm more powerful than her or then you."
It was getting harder to breath the more he talked. His hand on my throat began to tighten. My eyes began to close slowly, even though I was fighting to keep them open.
To my surprise he let go and I fell to the floor. I took a deep breath coughing in the progress.
"It was stupid to run away Hazel. You were more saver in the castle then out here." He circle around me looking amused at my pain.
"The longer you're out here the weaker you are gonna get. You're gonna be so weak that you can't even stand on your own feet. You're not even gonna have enough strength to crawl."
I feel pretty weak already or it's maybe because I'm almost just got choke to dead a couple of seconds ago.
"I'm really tempted to just take you back with me to the castle and leave her behind."
He can't do that! She will die out here.
"But I'm not going to do that. I wanna see how long you can survive out here. Just the two of you."
If he thinks I won't survive this, he's wrong.
I'm strong enough to find a way out of this.
"If you think you're scaring me you're wrong."
Abraham crocked his head to side looking at me with curious eyes. "You think you're stronger then this?"
He moved closer licking his lips.
"I know I am. I wouldn't let anything happen to her, so I will do whatever it takes to bring her save home to her brother."
He was standing right in front of me looking down at me.
I still have to remind myself that this isn't Logan. This is Abraham in the body of Logan.
"We will see how strong you are if one of the dark creatures rips her apart limp, by limp. Her screaming will be thanks to you, her blood will be on your hands." I close my eyes when he disappeared in flames leaving me in darkness.
"So he threaten you by killing me?"
We were walking further after what happen with Abraham.
"Well he threaten that the dark creatures will kill you." I remark.
You're not helping Hazel. You should be able to tell her that everything will be fine, not scaring her more. But I can't lie to her. I can't tell her something that isn't true. Lies have destroyed so many things in the past and I'm not doing the same.
"We really need to get out of here."
I agree with that.
If only I knew a way out of these woods. I'm not like Lina who can communicate with the trees, plants or animals. I'm not born here like Logan. I'm powerless right now.
"I wish I know a way out of here, but I don't. I wish I was more helpful." I said stopping with walking.
I don't know why I stopped, but I just had the urge to stop. I didn't want to go any further.
"Hazel."
I shook my head.
"No Libby I am powerless and stupid. I'm not the savior. I'm just a teenage girl who somehow got into this mess of magic!"
I was so angry and sacred that I can't defend myself out here. Or even worse, that I can't defend Libby.
"Hazel."
"Stop Libby! There is noting that you could say that will change my mind."
She rolled her eyes at me before turning me around.
My eyes widen when I saw a cave right in front of us. It was at the foot of a big mountain. I could hear whispers coming from the inside. Something is off about this place and I don't like it one bit.
"What is this place?" Libby asked looking at the black hole that is the entrance of the cave.
"I don't know." There is a powerful darkness inside.
Something that scare me so much by just standing here. We shouldn't be here.
"Why did you bring us here?" I frown my brows looking at her.
"What?"
She turned away from the cave to look at me.
"You brought us here."
I did? I can't remember doing that. I thought I was just walking in a random direction.
"I didn't. I mean I didn't know I was going this way."
Why would I bring us here if this is such a bad place.
"Maybe something want you to go inside?" I bite my lip looking at the cave.
Maybe there something inside that wants men but the question is why?
