chapter 31 (blend in)
"What are we gonna do now?"
We were hiding behind some barrels. We had manged to escape the guards when we inter the village, but it was hard to blend it.
We had totally different cloths on then the people here. It would be a matter of time before they would find us.
"We need to blend in." I whisper looking around.
My eyes landed on some clothes that were hanging around. Someone most of have hanging them there when they did their laundry.
"Come on." Slowly and staying in the shadows against the walls we made our way to the clothes.
Logan was right it is dark here. It was like the sun never shine here.
I look around before taking the clothes. I'm sorry to the person they belong to, but I really don't have a choice right now.
I gave some of them to Libby.
"We need to change?" She asked looking at the black clothes in her arms.
"Yeah we have to blend in. Our normal cloths don't blend in very well in this sea of blackness."
All the people here are dressed in black or grey. All I can see are dark colors. I didn't really expected something else.
Seeing that in Aura everyone wears earths colors like brown, green, so that they can blend into to the forest.
Then in Terraite with my grandmother they mostly wear white, light blue, like the snow and the winter.
In Pytha they were yellow, brown, purple, which reminds me of all the potions they make.
In Ficansvena well they don't wear much. The wolves are always warm so they only wear like shorts or a tank top that are mostly black or brown. The vampires well they are always cold, but they don't feel it and they probably wanna show of their body. Most of them wear black or red. I didn't see any other colour there. Not that I pay much attention.
Meadow is like the only place I have seen where they actually wear normal colors.
"Where do we have to change, because I don't want to so it here where everyone can see it." Libby said looking around.
Okay I didn't think about that. There isn't much place's we can go to change.
"There." I pointed at a barn that stood a bit further away from the crowd.
Libby nodded here head and began to walk towards it. I look back at the house were the cloths belong and saw some shoes. Well we can't run around with converse. I grabbed them before walking after Libby.
Somehow we manged to get to the barn without anyone noticing it. Carefully I open the door and look inside. Nobody was here except some cows and pigs. We when inside and I quickly close the door behind us.
"Here wear this too." I gave her some black boots while I took the brown ones.
My eyes when to Libby's arm and I stopped her. "
Wait let me heal that first." She look down at her arm before looking back up at me.
Gently I lay my hand on the burn wound that didn't look good. Slowly my hand began to glow and I could feel Libby relaxing under my touch.
"I'm sorry that this happen to you." I didn't look away from her wound.
"It's not your fault Hazel. You didn't hurt me." I shook my head.
"Yeah, but if it wasn't for me you would be save home with your brother not knowing of this world." The wound was healed and I let go of Libby's arm.
"Hazel thanks to you I know now where I came from. I know what I can do now." I sigh running a hand through my hair.
I pick up the pile of cloths and looked at them. Okay I have a black bodysuit with two zippers on it and a scarf that I can use as a hood that would cover the halve of my face.
Good that way nobody can recognize me.
I quickly undress myself before putting the clothes on. They weren't bad and I kind of feel badass in them. I put on my brown boots on before standing up.
"So what do you think." I look up to look at Libby.
"Wow." I breath out.
She looked like a totally different person.
"Is it bad?" I shook my head.
"No you just look different."
She had a t-shirt on with long rips hanging on the bottom. You couldn't see the black short she was wearing over her black tights. She was wearing a black jacket with a hood, so that just as me they couldn't recognize her.
On her knees she had a pair of kneepads. She looked really badass in them.
"Do you think the will know it's us." I shook my head putting my hood on.
"I don't think so. We just need to get to the forest and find a way to a other land."
Libby put her hood on and looked at her other cloths. "What are we gonna do with our cloths?"
We can't just leave them here on the ground. If someone come inside they will know we have different cloths on.
"Uhm here hide them." I took my cloths and put them under some hay. Libby did the same and we made sure that there was enough hay on them to cover everything up.
"Ready?" I asked Libby putting my hand on the door knob.
She nodded her head and I gave her a small smile.
"It's going to be fine Libby. Just act natural and stay close to me." I said when I could feel that she was nervous.
"Okay." She breath out. Let's do this. I open the door and stepped outside. We made our way back to the main street where all the other people were. I don't want to walk alone to the side.
People would notice it when two people would walk alone.
It wasn't that crowded on the street, so I could look around. If we just keep walking down the street we would come to edge of the forest.
Yelling came from behind us and we both turn around. "Search everywhere! They can't have gone far!"
I watch how Abraham, Felix, Tanya and Ragnar stood there looking around. Guards were rushing around looking everywhere where you can hide.
I grabbed Libby's arm and pulled her back around.
"Hazel?" Libby whisper.
"Yeah?" I look around at everyone who passed us.
"They're getting closer." I knew that, I could feel the earth rumbling underneath my feet while the guards ran around.
"Just keep on walking."
The Nimfen here were very different than that I have seen before. Some of them looked like monsters with a human body. Others have red eyes. Some dark creatures were walking around here. Well some of them were crawling.
I could see the end of the village. We're almost there. Just a little bit further.
"Girls."
We both stopped in our tracks when a big guard stepped in front of us. We look up and I saw that he had red eyes.
"Have you seen the savior and her friend. They escaped the castle and are in the village right now."
I lick my dry lips before answering. "No I haven't see them."
The guard nods and turned his head at Libby.
"And you?"
I could hear Libby swallowing hard. "No, I didn't see them either."
I know she was trying not to make her voice crack. "If you girls see them report them immediately."
We both nodded our heads and the guard walked away. I grabbed Libby's arm and pull her further.
"That was close." I hear her breath out.
"Yeah a little bit too close."
When we past the end of the village we started to run to the forest. I don't know what is in the forest, but I know it can't be good.
It's filled with dark creatures who can kill us in a sec.
We have to be quick, but also very careful. I don't know if I can protect myself and Libby, but I can't let her die. We both need to survive this.
The sounds of the village disappeared when we inter the dark forest. It was so dark I couldn't see a thing.
"Hold on." We stopped with walking and I made a light in my hand.
I throw it in the air so that we could see something.
"It's so dark here." Libby put her arms around her stomach looking around.
"I know it's going to be dark for a long time." I said with a sigh.
I look at the light above us that gave us some light to see around us. It's gonna follow us when we are going to walk in the dark here.
"Let's go the sooner we start the sooner we will find our way back home."
