Chapter 36
Breathing a sigh of relief, Lucilia looked at the retreating pirate ship.
The ship's crew moved fast in leaving her range making her unable to make a move on it.
"Hmm?"
Her brows scrunched slightly. The other ships behind the retreating pirate ship have now started to......... disperse.
"What are they doing now?"
Seeing this, she immediately raised her vigilance even more. Although she was unbeatable within 800 meters, beyond that was the area of 'I can't do anything to them' point.
An addition to this, the pirates has magicians with them. Although she didn't know who and why would this kind of such people would work with pirates, knowing that they didn't have kind intentions was enough for her to act against them.
"Captain, the crew members that has their own families have been evacuated already. By now they should have already left the vicinity earlier. Even our watchman no longer sees them."
Lucilia nodded, this news was a reliever for her as she was also trying as best as she can to make sure that those people of hers would not get noticed.
Noticing the movements the pirates were currently doing, she immediately had a hunch that they're probably going to take them from both sides.
She then looked at the other members of her crew that helped her defend earlier.
"To those that uses magic, what elements can you use?"
Her men looked at each other and then answered. The answers she got was that most of them were water magicians. A quarter of these water magicians were Minera magicians, the secondary stage of the water element. The remaining miniscule were Fire magicians.
After contemplating for some moments, she then said,
"Set up water barriers on both sides of the ship. They may have stopped for now but I'm sure that they have something else up they're sleeves."
"To the Minera and Fire magicians, you guys can either help in attacking the enemy ships or help in defending our ship."
Her men nodded and immediately went into action.
Magic circles of red and blue, big or small, then alighted on the La Camesa. If one were to observe the La Camesa from a distance, they would probably see that the stern of the ship was covered in golden brown while the left and right side would be covered in red and blue.
Lucilia then looked back at the pirates with confidence filling her eyes, however, there was this heavy feeling weighing down on her somehow, and she doesn't know what it is.
.....
The increase in activity on the La Camesa did not escape Molu's eyes.
Seeing the preparations being done by Lucilia, Molu knew he can't make this fight last longer.
9 people, both men and women, wearing robes landed on the main ship of the pirate fleet. This ship was also the ship Molu was in.
One of the men wearing robes looked at Molu sternly, after staring for a while, that man said,
"What now? Captain." Said the man in undisguised contempt.
"We can't get close. We also can't overpower
a tertiary magician. What other tricks can you do now huh?"
Molu looked at that man with anger in his eyes. But nevertheless, he can only endure since this was the Empire's people.
After calming himself, he then showed a gloated sneer at the man, he then pointed at the deck of the ship.
The man felt humiliated with such a sneer from Molu but he still followed where he pointed to just to see this trick of his.
When he saw where Molu pointed though, he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.
"A mid rank magic cannon? More so there's two of it."
With the still gloated sneer on his face, he then said.
"Would this trick work then."
The man coldly snorted and turned around. Although a tertiary magician is powerfull in some aspects, magic cannons are still a force not to be reckoned with.
"The plan this time is just simple, you guys just need to make sure that they won't notice the cannons. When their ship is decimated, then that's the time we come in for the kill."
The mages immediately left and headed to the ships that are in front of the main pirate ship.
.....
Time passed, Lucilia could'nt help but start to feel nervous. The pirate ships surrounded them already. Although they kept up with their speed in order to be sure that they won't be overtaken, the pirate ships seems like just to do that.
Just follow them until they stop, Moreover, she felt helpless since none of the enemy ships have entered her range.
She looked at her own crew, her own people, and she herself could clearly feel the tension they're feeling as of the moment.
Lucilia shook her head, she needed to break the stalemate somehow.
While she was racking her brains on what to do, the helmsman suddenly called out,
"Ca-captain! Th-the light disappeared!!"
"Heh?"
"What did he just say?"
Hearing this, Lucilia blanked out.
"The light disappeared? Then how would we get to the port? How would we navigate our way through there?"
She began to feel a headache. Keeping her vigilance to numerous enemies was already taxing for her, and now that this particular situation appeared, she couldn't help but start to stagger.
"Captain! Incoming!"
Long trails of fire headed towards the stern of the ship, where Lucilia was currently standing at.
Due to being muddle-headed for a short moment, the magicians on the pirate ships immediately took that short chance to launch an attack.
Lucilia immediately cleared herself and formed a series of hand formations to create a stone shield, however, with the sudden attack, she was afraid that she won't make it in time to set up the shield.
In a flurry of seconds, water barriers immediately appeared in front of her and consecutively blocked the fire trails.
By the time the shield was finished, the fire trails were all dispersed, which have then calmed the crew members of the La Camesa.
That sudden calmness though was immediately destroyed when they suddenly heard a shrill cry ringing on their ears.
Looking for the source, all of them raised their heads, when they did so however, they were all astounded at what they saw. Even Lucilia was dumbstruck.
"Th-?!! Isn't that a fire Phoenix!?"
With the appearance of the Phoenix, Lucilia could'nt help but shudder. Creating a Phoenix would need at least a tertiary stage fire magician. And based on the skill sets that the magicians threw at her, she was sure that there were no tertiary stage fire magicians.
The Phoenix looked down and immediately headed towards the La Camesa. Due to the sudden appearance of the Phoenix, most the crew of the La Camesa was shut frozen on their places.
Lucilia's expression immediately turned grave as she raised her hand to block the Phoenix attack with the stone shield she had created.
Although she can procure a much better, stronger shield, she just didn't have the time to create it.
When the shield made contact with the Phoenix, Lucilia immediately felt heavy and was forced kneel on one knee due to the pressure she was given.
For onlookers though, staring straight when the Phoenix made contact with the shield would have probably burned their eyesight already due to the bright light emmited when the contact between the Phoenix and the shield was made.
When the light finally disappeared, the aftermath was then seen.
The shield was charred black, there were also traces of the shield melting.
The ship, La Camesa, also had burnt wood on some of its surfaces. The stern in of itself, had signs of collapsing due to the most of it being charred.
The crew of the La Camesa stood there, frozen on their places.
