Chapter 27

"T3, 2, 1,100,000."

The whole auction house went into an uproar.

1,100,000!

That's no small amount!

Most of the people on the second floor looked at one of the third floor rooms.

Whoever were on those rooms, they're backgrounds won't be just any simple manner if they could just fish out 1,000,000 just like that.

On one of the third floor rooms, Rodel was already frowning. He didn't expect the woman from the room beside them to fish out a million on one of the items that he was ordered to obtain.

"How much are we currently holding now." Asked Rodel.

"Let me check, alright, we have 5.5 million on the card." Replied Jose.

Breathing in deeply, Rodel knew he can't stall for long or else the Droid would end on this woman's hands.

"Ask our superiors for more funds, this won't be an easy fight."

.....

The Muscular man didn't understand what was happening.

Fishing out a million, that's crazy!

No one has ever done that when he was in an auction.

He glared at the room from where the woman's voice originated.

"Alright, if you want a fight. I'll give you one!" He thought.

But before he could say his next bid, another voice was heard.

"T3, 1, 1,300,000."

"........."

"........."

"........."

Silence.

This time everyone on the first and second floor was silenced when this bid came.

200,000 thousand increment?

1,300,000?

What?

Followed by this questions, an even huge uproar dawned on the auction house.

Even the auctioneer couldn't believe what he just heard.

He wanted to shout like what the people on the floors were doing.

Even with the huge uproar created from this bid, the woman obviously didn't stop from fighting over this item.

"T3, 2, 1,650,000."

The uproar stopped, what was that now?

1,650,000?

250,000 increment?

How rich are these people?!

Another huge sweeping uproar was about to happen, but was silence when the male competitor's voice was heard again.

"T3, 1, 1,800,000."

After this was heard, that was the moment that finally triggered the shouts of disbelief these people were about to do.

.....

"Jose, this is serious. With such a contender, getting those items would be but a pipe dream."

At this moment, Rodel's face was already looking grave.

1,800,000 was no small amount. That alone already burned a third of their current funds.

They have to do something.

"Jose, did our superiors respond now?"

"Not yet, they haven't replied to our message yet."

Rodel started to have a headache, if there's no response then they can't make a major move.

Furthermore...

"That woman, who is she..."

.....

On one of the third floor rooms, a woman in her twenties was sitting gracefully on her seat. Behind her were four other men.

Two of which wore business suits and the other two wearing tuxedos and black glasses.

One of the men wearing business suits then started to talk.

"Mam, is bidding on an item like this really necessary? Do we not have our veteran trained bodyguards with us? Why would we need such a thing?"

The woman just smiled. Not even glancing at the man, she replied.

"I am not dumb Marcos. After the fog event, did you not see the buildings that we're once thought to be tough enough to withstand earthquakes turned into nothing but rubbles. The government is hiding something from us and to ensure my own safety I decided to get one more capable guard."

The man named Marcos didn't spoke another word. Even though questions were raised on why the infrastructures built to be tough enough to withstand earthquakes, fell and turned to nothing but rocks, were being thrown at the government. No absolute answers were given by them.

The government merely said that plane crashes, due to lost of control, bombarded the buildings causing it to fall to nothing but rocks. They even proved it by showing the crashed military planes.

But of course, this didn't stop people from speculating on what's the truth.

Things like 'why are the military Jets and planes, the only aerial vehicles that crashed during the fog event' were continuously asked.

There were even some saying that they heard loud roars and screeches that came from unknown sources. Although this sounded nonsense, it also became a speculation since many people have said the same things.

So, to the most of the populace, what the government said sounded like bullsh*t to them.

It even made more proof that what they said was bullsh*t since they didn't even refute it.

However, they still kept silent about it.

Because of this, insecurities ensnared most of the populace.

The demand for veteran, skilled, or ex-military bodyguards increased, especially to those well-off and wealthy families.

And to the woman that the man named Marcos is following, she is one of those wealthy ones. The only difference is that her guard would be on hard metal rather than the soft flesh.

The woman made another bid, this time she added an increment of 100,000.

The war on who gets the auctioned item continues...

.....

Bids after bids came. The price increment may have lowered to 100,000, but that's it. At most, indications of slowing down were non-existent.

Eventually the muscular man was forgotten and the people became more composed as they here the incresaing of the prices in such a hot, solid, competition.

It was until the price reached 2,900,000 that the male competitor stopped saying his bids in a straight manner.

This time, the former 100,000 increment decreased to 80,000. And it further made its way down to 25,000. Eventually the male competitor stopped.

Everyone thought he stopped bidding for it and saw that fighting against this demonic female voice that throws money like it was pebbles was impossible to be defeated.

On the third floor room were Marcos was in, the woman was already smiling gleefully.

"You think your taking this big boy of a guard with you back to your home just like that. Well guess what, I ain't giving you an easy fight. So, won't you just give me the metal boy? That would just make things easier for me and you, you know." She thought.

The auctioneer looked back and forth between the two third floor rooms. He was already happy for the two people competing for the item made the original expected price of 2,600,000 increase it to the current bidding price of 3,125,000. So, he, the auctioneer, was really overjoyed when the price passed the expected price.

The auctioneer counted to three before saying the famous words of an auctioneer. The words, "Going once, Going twice?"

As seeing there was no activity within the competing third floor room with the male voice, he then said his next words loudly.

But before he could he say it, the same male voice was once again heard.

"Wait, I'll increase the bid to 3,300,000."

"......."

"......."

"......."

And then the single word 'heh?' was heard.
