I walked down the dark corridor, following the natural light that poured in from random holes in the ceiling. Slowly a brighter light showed. It grew bigger and brighter until I saw the source of the light. It was a door way with a barred door that hung ajar. It led to the outside world.

I stopped five feet away from the door, crouched down and listened.

It was quiet. Not a sound came from a living soul. This place was lifeless. I took a deep breath and walked passed the barred door. I had left the dark and humid corridors of the dark palace and came out into an arena of sorts. I looked around the arena and then in the stadium where there were seats. It was empty. Until I saw the reserved area. I stiffened as I focused on the black figure that stood in the shadows casted by the ceiling.

"Lux" he said stepping into the sunlight. "I started to believe you wouldn't show brother" he said and jumped down from the stage and onto the arena floor. He landed with his fist down and on one knee. A superhero landing.

He stood and looked at him with his body turned at an angle.

I kept a straight face. "Tenebris, you have gone too far this time" I said. "The council allowed your minor actions but killing the great Deus has forced their hand"

"Brother, you and I know the Deus was not great" he said growling. "The spineless worm sent countless people to their death and refused to acknowledge the very people he ruled"

"Murder was not the answer" I retorted. "The council would have taken care of the matter-"

"But it would have taken time the people did not have" he interrupted. He looked me dead in the eyes and held out his hand. "Join me brother. We can rule the kingdom as brothers." he turned his outstretched hand into a fist and held it up. "With our powers combined, no one would dare stand against us!"

His eyes had changed to a shade blood red surrounded by darkness. I looked away defeated. I had lost my brother. Before me stood but a mere shell of his former self. A darker and more evil presence resided inside him now.

I shook my head. "Tenebris. Brother." I started. "I do not know if you are truly in there or not but...I implore you to look at reason."

He growled and clenched both of his hands into fist. "I implore you, brother, to join me" he said with a harsh and cold tone. "If you don't I will see you as a threat and will remove you"

I stayed quiet and didn't move.

He sighed "so be it." with that both his hands glowed red. He launched dark energy at me with deadly precision and speed.

I blocked them with light energy and dodged as many as I could.

He laughed maniacally "dance brother! Dance!"

I blocked one of his shots but a second one came too fast for me to block. It went right through me and I gasped as I felt all the warmth from my body heat. I was left cold and weak. My legs turned to jelly and my arms weighed like lead. I dropped down to my knees and then onto all fours. I shivered as the cold spread. Draining my body of all warmth and strength. "W-what k-kind of, ah, m-magic is this?, nnngh!"

"It is leach magic. My darkness is stronger than any light you can produce, little brother" I heard him say but his voice was distant. Like he was telling me this from another place in the arena. "I was always stronger then you" he said as I felt his foot slam into my gut.

I grunted in pain as I felt my body leave the ground and go flying through the air. I slammed back down onto the ground, rolled, and slid to a stop. I tried getting up but I had no strength left in me. Simply breathing was a struggle for me.

"I will rule as king" he said. "And Katrina will be at my side. As my queen"

My eyes widened and my heart quickened. My future wife Katrina appeared in my mind. She would never join Tenebris willingly but with his new found powers he would take her away.

Katrina was so innocent she wouldn't know that he is a threat until it was too late. No.. I can't let that happen. I wont let it happen!

I started pushing myself back up onto my feet. "Tenebris, you will, nnnng, never have her." I said as I got to my knees. "She is mine" I panted "and I will kill to keep her safe. Even you dear brother"

He growled. "You are weak! I will destroy you and claim her as my own!"

I smiled as I fully stood and sucked in the light enegery that came from the sun. "I may not be as strong." I said as my eyes turned blue. "But I'm more agile"

He snarled and charged at me, yelling at the top of his lungs

I charged at him and did the same.

We clashed in the middle with a ear splinttering boom.

I will always protect you Katrina. Dead or alive, I will keep you safe
